"Take this!"
Riko Amanai's shout interrupted Suguru Geto's thoughts.
Riko jumped up and tried to kick Satoru, but her foot hit his Infinity and she bounced back.
Splash!
Riko fell backward into the rising tide.
Salty seawater rushed into her nose. The sensation of suffocation gripped her throat like a pair of hands.
Suddenly, a thought entered Riko's mind.
Maybe it's better to die like this. To die in the happiest moment...
Riko's body went limp, allowing herself to sink into the ocean.
The blue water reflected the boundless sky. Bubbles floated up like pearls.
A colorful fish swam past her eyes, sunlight glinting off its scales in a beautiful halo.
In this moment, Riko felt all the pressure in her heart vanish. She felt incredibly light and free.
Just before she closed her eyes, she heard a splash, and Satoru Gojo's face filled her vision.
His pure, flawless blue eyes shone as bright as the sky and sea combined.
Satoru grabbed Riko by the waist and swam toward the surface.
"Puh... Haa~"
They broke the surface, gasping for air. Satoru looked annoyed. "Hey! Did you get a cramp?"
Riko spat out water furiously. "You bastard! You're the one who bounced me away!"
"Ha? Don't you know I did that to protect myself?"
"You almost drowned me! Great protection!"
"Damn brat, believe it or not, I'll dunk your head back in the water!"
"Who are you calling a brat?! You're barely older than me... glub glub..."
Misato Kuroi shouted frantically from the shore, "Please stop, Mr. Gojo!"
Souma watched Satoru and Riko fighting and remarked with interest, "Suguru, don't you think they make a cute couple?"
"Ha?"
Geto rolled his eyes. "Even though Satoru seems to like hanging out with Riko, elevating it to a romantic relationship is a bit weird."
Souma spread his hands. "Can't help it. As an older brother, I have to think about my little brother's future happiness!"
Geto was speechless. "Isn't that too fast? They're not even adults yet!"
Then Geto glanced sideways. "Speaking of which, how are things going with you and Shoko?"
"HA?"
Souma jumped up, looking panicked. "Oi, oi, oi! Suguru! What nonsense are you spouting? Impossible! Absolutely impossible! That's completely fantasy talk!"
Watching Souma blow all his cooldowns just from a single basic attack, Geto smiled silently.
"What's with that face, you bastard!"
...
Time passed as they chatted and joked.
As the sun set and darkness fell, the smile on Riko's face gradually faded.
The night passed without incident.
The next day, under orders from the higher-ups, the group rushed to the airport.
Kuroi wanted to follow them, but Souma suddenly pulled her aside to say something.
Satoru grinned like a gossiping auntie. "Whispering behind our backs? Could it be..."
Geto frowned, remembering the email Souma sent Yaga yesterday.
Soon, Kuroi nodded solemnly, bowed deeply to Souma, took one last look at Riko in the distance, and left.
Souma returned to the group but offered no explanation.
They flew back to Tokyo and arrived at the base of Jujutsu High.
Step by step up the stone stairs, the mood grew heavier.
Riko was anxious, but she put on a brave face.
She looked at Satoru proudly, pointing at herself. "Hey! I'm about to merge with Master Tengen. After the merger, you better show me some respect, understand?"
Satoru rolled his eyes and looked away.
"Don't get cocky. Once I dump you at the school, I'm running away."
Soon, they reached the school's barrier.
Satoru sighed with relief. "Finally made it!"
Geto smiled too. "You and Souma have been maintaining the Limitless for so long. You can finally rest."
The barrier of Jujutsu High was set by Tengen himself. It had an alarm system that reacted immediately to any unregistered sorcerer crossing the perimeter.
It was considered incredibly reliable!
However, Souma didn't think so.
He knew exactly what kind of useless bum Tengen was.
Kenjaku lived for a thousand years and had both power and brains. Tengen... let's not talk about it.
The next moment, they stepped inside the barrier.
Satoru stretched his arms and deactivated his Limitless technique with a relaxed face.
Geto and Riko relaxed too.
We're inside the school. We should be safe now, right?
Only Souma didn't think that. He focused entirely on Satoru's back.
Any second now, the Heavenly Tyrant, whose zero-cursed-energy body allowed him to bypass the barrier undetected, would appear behind Satoru and stab him.
Still smiling like an idiot, my foolish little brother...
SHK! SHK!
Souma's thoughts were interrupted by a sharp pain.
He looked down. A bloody blade was protruding from his own waist.
And at the same time, Satoru's pupils constricted. He had been stabbed through the chest from behind.
Toji Fushiguro held a short sword in each hand. His ambush successful, he wore a cold, confident grin.
Just like in the original plot. At the moment they were most relaxed.
The Tyrant of Heaven, descended!
Being stabbed himself was something Souma hadn't expected. But when he saw where they were stabbed, he nearly lost his mind.
What the hell?
You stab Satoru in the chest, but you stab me in the kidney?!
"Souma! Satoru!"
Geto was shocked. He reacted instantly, swinging Playful Cloud at Toji with enough force to create a sonic boom.
However, Toji's reaction speed was godlike. He dodged the attack instantly, leaping away and hopping in and out of the "incredibly reliable" barrier set by Master Tengen.
"What's going on? The barrier isn't reacting?"
Geto broke out in a cold sweat. He felt zero cursed energy from this man.
But the sense of danger was unlike anything he had ever felt before!
Dangerous! Extremely dangerous!
"Suguru!"
Souma shouted, clutching his bleeding side. "Don't forget what I told you! GO!"
Geto froze for a split second, then grabbed Riko's hand and sprinted into the school grounds.
Satoru, though he didn't know what his brother had told Geto, knew that getting Riko away was the best move.
Now, it was Six Eyes Twins VS The Heavenly Tyrant!
"Bro, you okay?"
"Can't die yet!"
Souma looked at Toji Fushiguro, forcing a grin. "Zenin... oh no, Toji Fushiguro. Long time no see!"
Toji raised an eyebrow. "I'm honored the Young Master of the Gojo clan remembers a monkey like me!"
"Speaking of which, how long has it been?"
"Eight years!"
"Right. Eight years!"
Toji swung the Split Soul Katana in his hand with interest. "For old times' sake, step aside and let me take the girl. How about it?"
Furious, Satoru was about to speak, but Souma beat him to it. "Not a chance!"
Souma took a fighting stance. "From the first moment I saw you, I knew we would fight eventually. If you want to pass, you'll have to kill me!"
"And me!"
Satoru stepped forward, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Souma, staring down Toji.
Toji scratched his head helplessly. "Eh~ Then..."
"Please die."
