Chapter 23 - Attack

"Keep going...lead them deeper..." Commands continued to be heard from inside the car.

Following the instructions, those in charge of luring the zombies seemed to be trying their best to lure them into following their direction.

Slowly but surely, their group's objective was slowly making its way towards the Takagi family's main entrance.

Meanwhile, the guards on duty at the Takagi family's main area...

Sensed something was amiss when they discovered that the east entrance led directly to the main gate.

The guards on duty didn't respond when the main members on duty at the headquarters asked about the situation several times.

"Something's wrong! Quickly contact the commander and inform him that something seems to be happening at the guard post to the east," those on duty at the headquarters quickly informed their superiors.

However, due to their delays, and because it was break time,

Some matters that should have been resolved quickly were ultimately postponed.

And taking advantage of this moment, those carrying out the attack immediately seized the momentum.

Less than 10 minutes later, hundreds of zombies suddenly swarmed towards the main gate.

And from there, their numbers continued to grow. "Not good... the main gate has been attacked by a horde of zombies!!" A guard on duty at the gate noticed this and immediately reported to the others.

"Bang... bang... bang..." Gunshots rang out through the miserable darkness.

This caught the attention of those currently under the protection of the Takagi family.

In the general tent area designated for evacuees, the continuous sound of gunfire immediately woke those who had fallen asleep.

"What's going on?!"

"Why are there so many gunshots?" One by one, the refugees woke up and emerged from their tents.

Seeing what appeared to be chaos at the main gate, the refugees became anxious and quickly sought out the guards inside.

"Knock, knock, knock... sir, there's an emergency!" A rapid knocking sound rang out in Takagi's parents' room.

Mr. Takagi, who was currently asleep with his wife, suddenly woke up to the urgent sound.

"What's wrong?" He immediately left his room and asked the guard who was knocking.

"Sir, there's an emergency. Many zombies have broken through into our territory, and the guards are currently trying to hold them back at the main gate!!" With a slightly pale expression, the guard immediately informed Mr. Takagi of the situation.

Hearing the report from his subordinate, Mr. Takagi was shocked and incredulous. However, he noticed the guard's serious and slightly pale expression.

Due to the faint noise coming from outside, he quickly realized that the report was likely true.

"Hurry back to the post and wake everyone and tell them to take shelter." Without further thought, Mr. Takagi, with his experience, immediately ordered his men.

"Yes, sir," replied the guard, and immediately rushed out to carry out the order.

"I have to go out, and you wake me and my friends, inform them of the situation and prepare for the worst." Mr. Takagi changed his clothes, then spoke to his wife and gave some further instructions.

"I know," realizing the seriousness of the situation, Yuriko also quickly got ready.

Soon, the two of them finished their preparations and each went in different directions as they exited the room.

Saeko, who had been waiting for Akira to arrive, was one of the quickest to realize what was happening, having decided to wait for him.

Saeko, who had been keeping an eye out her window, noticed a strange phenomenon while she was waiting. Unfortunately, her room faced the opposite direction from the main gate.

She was essentially unable to Despite seeing the true situation, she could still clearly see that something was amiss.

The street, which should have been quiet and devoid of activity outside the high fence surrounding her house, was suddenly filled with activity from the zombies that had suddenly appeared. Seeing this, Saeko didn't take it too seriously. Because she basically felt it was normal for zombies to walk around at night, especially since she didn't know exactly how my parents managed their home.

However, the longer she looked at the path, the more Saeko felt something was wrong, and finally, she remembered.

"Isn't the outside of my residence basically blocked off and guarded by my family's security team?

So how could these zombies have gotten in? Doesn't this just mean that the guarded outside area has been breached? This is definitely not good news!" With a serious expression, Saeko quickly changed her clothes.

She quickly grabbed her sword and prepared to wake the others.

At the same time, the noise outside my parents' room further confirmed her suspicions.

Not long after, my mother, Miss Yuriko, was heard knocking rapidly on their bedroom door, demanding that they come out immediately.

Shortly, the sleeping group was awakened by the knocking and quickly rushed out of their rooms.

At this moment, my mother, Yuriko, along with Saeko and Saya, were waiting for them in the front room.

Seeing that all of Saya's friends were present, Yuriko immediately announced, "There's an emergency. Zombies have broken through the barricade and are currently being held at the main gate of the house. However, to avoid any untoward incidents, Auntie asks you to prepare for the worst, so please follow Auntie and bring your equipment." Yuriko wasted no time and immediately ordered them to prepare and follow her.

Meanwhile, each of them, upon hearing Yuriko's explanation, had a different expression on their faces.

Hirano and Takashi, upon hearing the news, were slightly shocked but then reacted quickly, grabbing the equipment they had brought.

Rei and Shizuka, on the other hand, were also shocked and in disbelief, but after seeing the seriousness of the situation, they obediently followed orders.

As for Saeko, she had a slight look of anxiety on her face when Akira still hadn't appeared.

However, she didn't want to act rashly; she still remembered the instructions Akhira had given her when she left to sneak out of Saya's house.

("Wait for me as usual. There's no emergency. You should stay with your group and wait for me to come back to find you.

Just remember to always carry the communication device I gave you, because from there I can track you in case of an emergency.")

With this in mind, Saeko tried to calm her mind, but Shizuka's questioning voice made the group realize that one of their members was missing.

"Saeko, where's Akira?" Shizuka's innocent voice, with a hint of curiosity, immediately caught their attention.

Stared by her group, Saeko simply replied...
