Chapter 125 - Chapter 125 : Stuck Up Angel

Henry slowly rose from his chair and started moving toward the door. He really didn't want to be standing in front of Castiel any longer than necessary.

This wasn't the Castiel who would eventually question Heaven, rebel against orders, or start thinking for himself. This was the soldier — millennia of loyal service, a believer, by-the-book, following orders without hesitation.

That was exactly why Henry wanted out of the room. As far as Heaven was concerned, anything outside God's design was an abomination. Henry was a hybrid of human and angel. If Castiel realized what he actually was, there was a real chance the problem would get solved on the spot.

Castiel didn't react. Didn't even look at him. His attention stayed fixed entirely on Dean.

Henry slowed. Something about that felt wrong.

Wait... that's the wrong reaction.

A half-angel standing a few feet away should have been impossible to miss. Castiel should have noticed instantly.

Don't tell me he can't sense it.

He studied the angel carefully. Not pretending. Genuinely unaware.

Well, that's convenient.

Bobby had reached the limit of his patience. "What the fuck are you?" he demanded, loading his shotgun.

Castiel finally shifted his attention away from Dean and looked toward the weapon.

The reaction was immediate — the shotgun flew out of Bobby's hands before anyone could react. Metal twisted, wood splintered, crumpled like it had been crushed by an invisible hydraulic press before dropping to the floor in a useless heap.

Dean's eyes widened. Bobby stared at what remained of his gun.

"There is no need to be alarmed."

"Yeah, see, when people say that, they're usually not crushing somebody's gun at the same time."

Castiel seemed unfazed. "My name is Castiel. I am an angel of the Lord."

The room went silent.

"No," Dean said finally, pointing at him. "Let's back up. You're telling me you're an actual angel?"

"Yes."

Dean looked toward Sam. Sam looked toward Bobby. Neither seemed any more convinced than he was.

"Okay. Either you're crazy or we're crazy."

"I assure you, Dean Winchester, I am quite real."

"I have been sent by Heaven because the first seal has been broken. The Apocalypse has begun, and if the remaining seals fall, Lucifer will walk free. We require your assistance."

Dean didn't listen. The moment Castiel finished speaking he grabbed the nearest chair and swung it straight at his face. The chair exploded into splinters. At the same time he pulled the demon-killing knife and drove it into Castiel's chest.

Castiel looked down at the blade. His expression never changed. Slowly he pulled it free and let it drop.

Dean froze. That knife had worked on every demon they'd ever used it on.

"You assume violence will provide answers."

The lights flickered. The windows rattled. The air turned heavy.

"I assure you, it will not."

Dean stepped back. "What are you?"

"I told you."

A brief flash of white light filled the room. For a fraction of a second, enormous shadows resembling wings stretched across the walls before vanishing. Sam looked away instinctively. Castiel remained calm.

"Angels aren't real."

He tilted his head. "You have fought demons, ghosts, shapeshifters, vampires, and creatures older than recorded history. Yet angels are where you draw the line."

Nobody had an answer for that.

"The first seal has been broken. Events that were never meant to occur are already in motion. Heaven has become aware of unusual activity surrounding this region. I was sent to investigate and determine the cause."

His focus never shifted toward Henry near the doorway.

"There are forces moving now that neither of you fully understand. Whether you believe me is irrelevant. Those forces will continue moving regardless. A danger approaches. Be vigilant."

With that, he disappeared.

The room fell silent. Dean looked at the empty spot where the angel had stood, then at the destroyed shotgun, then at the knife on the floor.

"What the hell was that?"

"Dean, that was an angel."

"No."

"Dean."

"No." Dean folded his arms.

"You stabbed him in the chest and nothing happened. He crushed Bobby's shotgun without touching it and vanished into thin air. At some point you're gonna have to accept maybe we just met an actual angel."

Dean rubbed his forehead. "I hate this."

Bobby wasn't listening anymore. He was looking at Henry. Castiel had talked about seals. Henry had talked about seals. Castiel had talked about Lucifer. Henry had talked about Lucifer. That wasn't a coincidence.

"How'd you know?"

Henry looked up from his beer. "Know what?"

"Don't play dumb. That angel just repeated half the things you told us earlier."

Dean and Sam both turned toward him.

"First seal. Lucifer. Apocalypse."

Henry sighed. "Here we go."

"No, boy. Here you go." Bobby's eyes narrowed. "How the hell did you know all that?"

"Actually, yeah," Dean said. "I'd like an answer too."

Sam stayed quiet, but he was clearly waiting.

Henry kept his expression flat. "I told you already — I dreamed about it . I didn't even know it was true until just now."
