Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Thoughts on the Aozaki Family

The Aozaki Family is considered a heretic, renowned Magus family within the Mage's Association, and also one of the few land administrators in Japan with a "distorted spiritual pulse." Touko's grandfather, for example, was a Magus with secret arts. However, such a great figure did not bestow any favors upon his children or disciples.

The members of the Aozaki Family lost Magic Circuits every year, to the point where Touko's parents had almost none left. The history of the prestigious Aozaki Family was thought to end with that generation. But heaven bestowed upon them a child prodigy. Was it a rebellion starting from scratch, or was it as her grandfather had intended?

Among the successive heirs of the Aozaki Family, a Little Girl with a top-tier number of Magic Circuits was born. Thus, she was educated as the heir of aozaki. She was Aozaki Touko, Aoko's older sister by two years.

Although her quantity was average, Touko possessed beautiful Magic Circuits with a precision that surpassed others and innate Mystic Eyes. Her five senses could perceive the subtle aspects of the world, and she knew how to temper her uniqueness to an appropriate degree. She showed no abnormal behaviors, truly a concentration of talent.

Because there was no need for her to approach modern society like other Maguss, she was purely cultivated as an "egg of a Magus," a pure Magus child prodigy. At the same time, she received attention from the Mage's Association as a child who might become a Magus in the future. At just ten years old, many prestigious Maguss came to visit her.

However, none of the other Magi, who would soon become her peers, ever appeared before her. She could somewhat sense the meaning of this, but before a definitive answer arrived, she was, of course, still the genius everyone around her expected her to be.

To be raised as the heir to the Fifth Magic, Touko lived separately from her sister. As a result, Touko had never attended school even by the age of eighteen. Although she often met and spoke with her sister Aoko, Touko was a genius Little Girl who didn't even know the basics of the world.

She didn't have the aura of a hermit; she possessed an excessive amount of Magus talent. She was also a calm and good older sister. She would listen to Aoko's strange failures and offer serious advice and comfort. Towards her sister Aoko, who lived a normal life, she held a complex sisterly love. They could be said to be a warm pair of sisters.

To inherit the aozaki's Magic, Touko's education and training, leaning towards the activation of grand Magus, continued.

However, she herself preferred more delicate things; not to move the world, but to recreate what was left of it. Yet, it seemed she endured special expectations while facing her grandfather, who was called a monster, with both fear and respect.

After the age of fifteen, to repay her grandfather's expectations, Touko's eyesight began to decline. Although they were rare Mystic Eyes, they were still insignificant compared to Magic.

Aoko was born into the Magus world with Magic Circuits as a child of mediocre ability, and she wasn't meant to be involved with Magus. She grew up cherished by her loving parents.

"Luckily, all my troubles can be pushed onto my sister."

Aoko, who was enjoying such an ordinary daily life, was suddenly informed on her sixteenth birthday: "Hmm, the heir of the Aozaki Family is still Aoko after all."

Aoko was thus forcibly brought into the Magus world, working and training as an apprentice Magus at the Kuonji household. Afterward, Touko severed ties with the Aozaki Family after various events, killed her grandfather, and accumulated power with the intention of snatching back the Magic Crest of the Fifth Magic from her sister Aoko.

This was all the information about Aozaki Touko at the moment. Rin sat upright on the sofa, resting her chin on her hand, recalling everything.

Rin had no aversion to Touko killing her mentor and grandfather, the previous Old Magician Aozaki; in fact, she wanted to applaud her, because that old man was clearly asking for it from every angle!

He clearly knew the talents and aptitudes of the aozaki sisters inside and out, so how could he not know who was more suitable for the Fifth Magic? And how could his initial choice of heir not have been carefully considered? The possibility of a sudden change of heart was zero.

Aozaki Touko was chosen as the heir from birth, almost like Alice, she began receiving Magus training in the cradle, even more thoroughly isolated from the world, never even attending school before the age of 18.

And Touko herself wholeheartedly strived for 18 years to inherit the family and the Fifth Magic, even experiencing a decline in strength due to excessive effort. All of this was to repay her teacher's expectations, to become a qualified heir to the Fifth Magic.

Aozaki Touko's effort, talent, and ability were witnessed by the entire mysterious world; she was a true genius. At that time, almost the entire mysterious world believed that Aozaki Touko would become the next Fifth Magus, including Touko and the current Fifth Magus, Aoko.

However, that old man changed his mind at the last minute! He passed the Magic Crest to Aozaki Aoko as if it were a joke.

So, what about Aozaki Touko? How would her 18 years of desperate effort and sweat be accounted for? She bore the heavy burden of family expectations and responsibilities, struggling for 18 years of her life, all to repay her teacher's expectations. In the end, it was her teacher who betrayed her.

He abandoned her like a discarded puppet, leaving her to stand before the world like a clown. 18 years of effort, 18 years of life, 18 years of responsibility, 18 years of tears and sweat! All for nothing, utterly meaningless. That year, she was 18...

Aozaki Touko raised her butcher's knife against her once revered grandfather and teacher, severed ties with the Aozaki Family, and traveled the world to accumulate power, all to reclaim what was rightfully hers. And the once loving sisters were also torn apart, never to reconcile again.

"It makes no sense. What kind of mindset did that old man have to do such a ridiculous thing?"

Rin jumped off the sofa, a lollipop in her mouth, pacing back and forth, completely baffled. Around her, a circle of her Yakuza subordinates stood in the shadows.

A group of five-foot men surrounded a Little Girl no taller than 1.3 meters, silent as mice, not daring to make a sound. Their gazes towards Rin were both fearful and held a hidden, fervent admiration. Just seeing their boss in such adorable distress was enough for them.

"Oh dear, where is the problem? Where is it?!" Rin, whose head was throbbing from trying to figure it out, scratched her head vigorously. Her twin-tails were almost completely messed up. Unconsciously, she paced to a subordinate, then pointed at him with a sudden outburst of bossy temper, demanding, "You tell me! Under what circumstances would a dead old man make such a foolish, suicidal decision?!"

Based on past experience summarized by their boss, if they immediately answered "I don't know," they would have their toes stepped on and be called "useless." If they didn't answer, they would be kicked directly into a corner and wouldn't be able to get up for half a day. If their answer didn't satisfy the boss, they would be slapped and called a "pig's head." If the boss was satisfied, they would hit the jackpot!

Although each option was tempting, no matter how they calculated, answering was the most profitable!

"Report, Boss! That old man clearly wanted to die!"

Rin froze, repeating to herself, "Wanted to die? That old man wanted to die?!"
