Chapter 38 - Preparations

On the morning of a new month, the first day of the ninth month. The church rang their bells, welcoming all to a brand new beginning.

The sound of the continuous ringing reached every house, every soul and every person. The Day of the dragon occurred on the first day of the eight month, just a month from today. Everyone hearts, minds, felt relieved that they will not face such event until next year.

"The first day of the month, just one week from now,"

Febia said from her room's window.

'I wonder what he's doing.' She thought.

The last time they met eyes was during breakfast; the breakfast he immediately left after he was done. Febia worried, Moonlight had not interacted with the house that much and plus, he carries that thing with him everywhere he goes. Febia's mind shivers, thinking about the rowl in Moonlight's room.

As she stretched in preparation for the day, Moonlight took his stand on his bed immediately after breakfast. He lay with the rowl beside him.

"Hey there, do you know where we are going?" He said to the quiet room and also to the rowl.

The rowl made no noise. To rest on Moonlight was pure bliss. Hence, it was too lazy to even think of purring even a little bit.

"Beginner Academy. They are a bunch of schools created by the church under the pretext that their aimed at developing the talents of all children."

Moonlight tossed the bed sheets to the air. He then picked and placed the rowl to his left. With a perfect flow, the wind directed the floating sheet back onto their body. However this time, it covered the entirety of it.

While under the sheets, Moonlight continued.

"You know, I could have gone to a bigger one, but it seems Great Uncle had already planned this out from the beginning."

His words were surrounded by genuine joy. As he spoke, a faint smile could be captured directly on his face. It was a sweet, corny smile.

"So what should I do? The answer, see what will happen."

He quickly rose up and crept out the bed.

"If I use my knowledge, going to a school meant for the poor would mean that…"

He paused and chuckled.

"Looks like my lonely life is coming to an end,"

Moonlight yawned and did his morning body stretch. He looked to the wardrobe at the corner of the room. The silence shook him but he shrugged it off.

"I should arrange my things."

With the disappearance of morning dew, the sun finally took its place along with its entourages, the spacious blue sky. The sky fell into Moonlight's room and also, the sky fell on a certain man named Rociv Victor.

Rociv has a fair skin and a tall build with an approximated height of 200cm. His black hair is always combed backward. Currently, he is wearing a simple black top and a green trousers, with a slipper on his foot. After checking his look, he thought to himself, 'Yeah this seems good enough.'

He came out on a small road, checked his pocked and brought out a small coin pouch. After staring at it for a minute, a tear dropped from his face and he immediately dropped it back to his pocket.

Rociv quickly slapped the tear back and decided to trek rather than use a carriage.

While on his way, in order to buy time, he began to recall memories involving how exactly he got in this situation.

Rociv Victor is a rising scholar whom was invited by the Holy Church to work as a teacher in one of their establishments. He was tasked with briefing the newcomers on the basics of education. Currently, he is headed to collect the files of those newcomers.

Where he walked reeked of life, traders passed carrying loads, farmers passed with their cultivated produce and he passed the road with an empty pocket.

"Why did she invite me here? I swear the school would've been better." He muttered on entering another street.

On entering and saw a hand waving at him. He waved back in turn and then quickly placed the hands in his pocket. Suddenly, his posture and walking style changed drastically.

The person waving at him was a lady in her 20s. She too had fair skin and an unusual tall build. She put on a purple top and grey trouser lined with dark paint.

"Victor! Come here!' She called one last time before stopping her relentless wave.

"Did you bring it?" Victor asked, the moment he stepped into conservation distance.

"Oh, come on. Stop being a workaholic."

The lady gave him a light tap on his broad back. "Don't worry I brought it."

The lady then brought out a hand bag filled with white paper. The papers were all folded in a way that Victor had to ask.

"Are my files okay?"

"Yes," She gave him a word of encouragement and pointed over to a café that was just down the road. "Let's talk there." She said.

Victor's throat moved and he glanced at his pocket once more. He thought to himself, 'Should I go?'

"Aren't you coming?"

Quickly, he hid the pouch in his pocket and gave a fake smile which told the answer 'yes'.

"Then let's go."

With no choice, he followed.

They took their seat outside the café as he instructed her that staying indoors during the heat was a horrible idea.

As he noticed she was comfortably seated, he prompted to begin. Victor brought his left hand out and said, "My files."

The lady's eyes narrowed to the hand and then to his face. They screamed one thing- disappointment. She then leaned on her chair and folded her arms. "And if I don't want to."

Victor did not reply but stayed quiet. He slowly returned his hand to his legs. A look of confusion spread on his face and with it, a hint of anger followed. 'Look lady, time waits for no man! Stop acting like a child and hand me those files.'

This was his internal thoughts speaking. Deep down, he knew this was going nowhere.

Time ticked, clouds moved, nobody spoke to each other until a worker from the café reminded them of reality. The lady stared and shrugged the worker off.

"Arrgh! Boring, just take!"

The lady threw the bag on the table and angrily stood up.

Victor could feel the raw anger in her voice. But, just as she was about to leave, he remembered something.

"Oh, Rose." He called.

The lady stopped and replied with a threatening, "Huh?"

"The Principal informed me that an Adna was enrolling. Is it true?"

The lady paused and clicked her tongue.

"Yes," She said and immediately left the scene.

Noticing she was gone, Victor stood up and prepared to leave. He changed the air around him so he could feel cool and remove heat from himself. He turned to the direction the left with and thought, 'Don't worry when I'm stashed, I will treat you.'

He then goes on his own way, muttering to himself.

"An Adna huh,"

Is this is a good omen or a bad one?"
