"I don't know why," Hinata said with a frown, "but my Byakugan is completely useless here."
"Is that so?" Kaien nodded. "I've already figured out the patrol patterns. I'll take you out now."
"Okay!" Hinata nodded firmly.
"Go? Go where?"
An eerie voice suddenly exploded in their ears.
Cold sweat instantly soaked Kaien's back. He stiffly turned around—and standing there was Ōtsutsuki Toneri.
"I didn't expect you to find this place," Toneri said, narrowing his eyes as he scrutinized Kaien.
"Draw! Draw!" Kaien shouted to the system in his heart the moment he saw Toneri.
He didn't know how he'd been exposed, but that didn't matter now. What mattered was pulling something useful—right now.
Ding! Congratulations to the host for drawing a consumable — Getsuga Tenshō!
Kaien's eyes lit up. Without hesitation, he used it.
A massive phantom cleaver materialized in Kaien's hand. He swung it down at Toneri.
"Getsuga Tenshō!!!"
A pale-blue, crescent-shaped slash roared out from the curved blade, tearing through the air straight toward Toneri.
"Whoosh!"
Toneri's pupils contracted. He could tell this attack was no joke. He didn't dare underestimate it and instantly raised his right arm in front of his chest.

The slash slammed into his arm, a terrifying force erupting and sending Toneri flying backward dozens of meters.
Boom!!!
His body smashed into a wall, shattering it as debris exploded outward.
"Sister-in-law! Let's go!" Kaien grabbed Hinata's small hand, leapt into the air, and bolted toward the outside of the palace.
"Swish, swish, swish!"
The puppets immediately reacted and gave chase.
"Kaien, where are we going now?!" Hinata asked anxiously, glancing back at the pursuing puppets.
"We get out first," Kaien replied while running. "Brother Naruto and the others must be rushing here after hearing that noise."
"Mhm!" Hinata nodded obediently and fled with him toward the palace exit.
"Pfft!"
Toneri slowly stood up from the ruins. His clothes were torn and disheveled, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Enduring the severe pain in his right arm, he spat out another mouthful of blood.
His right hand was already broken—but even more horrifying was the shallow wound carved into his arm.
"What terrifying attack power…" Toneri muttered, his pupils shrinking.
He could clearly sense that Kaien was only a Chūnin.
Yet both now and before, Kaien had given him an overwhelming sense of danger—one that even carried the threat of death.
"If that attack had gone any further, even I would've paid a heavy price…"
Toneri gritted his teeth. His strength was at the Six Paths Realm. Aside from Naruto and Sasuke, no one should've been able to threaten him.
"No matter what," he said coldly, killing intent filling his eyes, "I cannot let them leave."

Toneri vanished.
In the next instant, he appeared directly in front of Kaien and Hinata, flipping his palm and striking toward Kaien.
"Kaien, be careful!" Hinata cried out, her face turning pale.
Kaien's eyes narrowed. He hadn't expected Toneri's speed to be this terrifying.
"Getsuga Tenshō!!!"
The shout alone made Toneri's heart jolt. Remembering the previous strike, he abruptly halted his attack and immediately poured chakra into defense.
He was afraid—afraid that same attack would come again.
But Kaien no longer had it.
Getsuga Tenshō was a one-time consumable.
As Toneri realized he'd been bluffed, his eyes darkened. A Chūnin couldn't possibly spam such a technique.
He immediately resumed the pursuit.
Kaien dragged Hinata along while shouting in his heart again, "Draw! Draw!"

Seeing Toneri frozen in place, Kaien knew it had worked.
He grabbed Hinata's hand and ran.
The puppets were already closing in. They had to break through—now.
"Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists!"
The moment the puppets lunged forward, Hinata activated her ultimate technique without hesitation.
Two massive chakra lions formed around her fists and smashed forward.
Boom—!
A violent explosion erupted, smoke billowing everywhere.
"Hmm?"
The blast jolted Toneri out of the illusion. He looked up sharply.
"…An illusion?"
His expression darkened, and he immediately gave chase.
"Oh no! He broke free!" Kaien's face changed drastically.
They were surrounded by puppets, and Toneri was closing in fast.
Bang!
Just as Toneri's strike was about to land on Kaien, a deafening impact rang out. A golden light slammed down in front of Kaien and Hinata, blocking the attack.
Wrapped in his Tailed Beast Cloak, Naruto stared coldly at Toneri.
"You're Ōtsutsuki Toneri, aren't you?"
