"What changed?"
Rome was quiet for a moment. Long enough that Nolan wondered if he was going to answer at all.
"Everything. Nothing you'd believe if I told you."
"Try me."
"Not tonight." Rome stood up. Moved toward the door with the kind of unhurried confidence that Nolan associated with people who had already won whatever fight they were walking into. "Tonight I just wanted to tell you that we're on the same side for the exhibition match. That fighting each other only helps the people watching us fail. That Aurora deserves better than two idiots tearing each other apart over territory that was never ours to claim."
"That's a lot of words to say nothing concrete."
"Yeah. It is." Rome paused at the door. Hand on the frame. "But I figured you'd appreciate the honesty more than the details."
"You don't know anything about what I appreciate."
