Chapter 44 - Ch 44- Each with Their Own Hidden Agendas

A few days later, the appointed time: October 31st, Shibuya.

Probably because Mount Fuji was still in a state of potential eruption, there were naturally far fewer Humans compared to the massive crowds in Shibuya in the original plot.

At 19:00 sharp, a Curtain with a radius of four hundred meters was cast, centered on the Tokyu Department Store Toyoko Branch.

The opening of the Curtain meant that Kenjaku's side and the Cursed Spirits were about to begin their move.

Just as they met, Kenjaku noticed that Jogo, whom he hadn't seen for a while, had Cursed Energy that was completely incomparable to before.

In an instant, Kenjaku thought of Mount Miharayama, which had erupted recently, and Mount Fuji, which had been in an unstable state during this period.

Increasing his strength by creating panic?

He could understand this tactic because, in essence, it was a form of diffusion of the source of the curse.

However, compared to typical incidents that could be contained merely by a Curtain, Kenjaku hadn't expected that with the spread of modern information, such a level of efficiency in improvement could be achieved in such a short time; this was indeed beyond Kenjaku's expectations.

But at this moment, Kenjaku's gaze was not on Jogo, because based on his knowledge of the four calamities, Jogo alone would never have thought of such a tactic, so it could only have been Mahito guiding him.

Kenjaku increasingly felt that Mahito was quite strange; too many coincidences had occurred around him: 'accidentally' turning Kento Nanami into a Cursed Spirit, easily killing the contemporary Special Grade Sorcerer Tsukumo Yuki, suppressing Satoru Gojo for a short time through Black Flash enhancement, and now using the influence of modern technology to boost strength—no, chronologically, this last point might have happened even earlier.

Coincidences refer to sporadic events, but with so many coincidences converging now, they could no longer be summarized as a mere coincidence; Mahito definitely had something wrong with him.

Kenjaku began to feel relieved that he had made some preparations in advance; otherwise, if he had acted according to the original plan, he might really have had no way to deal with a potential betrayal by the Cursed Spirits.

Mahito looked at the Humans filling the underground passage, their numbers not decreasing at all despite Mount Fuji's activity, and couldn't help but praise Kenjaku.

"You actually managed to find so many Humans? As expected of Geto. So, they are the means to restrict Satoru Gojo?"

Kenjaku nodded slightly and said, "That's right. These Humans are meant to prevent Satoru Gojo from opening his Domain, 'Limitless Void,' and also to restrict his movements so he can't use his Cursed Technique as he pleases. Whether it's the teleportation of 'Blue' or the use of 'Red,' he won't be able to avoid these Humans."

Although Mahito already knew, he still put on a satisfied expression and pressed further.

"If we do this, to what extent do we have to fight?"

Kenjaku held up two fingers and replied, "Twenty minutes. I hope you can hold out for twenty minutes. After that, it'll be my turn to appear with the Prison Realm. However, remember not to use your Domains. You have no chance of winning in a battle of Domains; you should know that, right?"

On the side, Jogo felt Kenjaku's contempt, and the Cursed Energy he had been hiding began to fluctuate. He spoke up in annoyance to retort.

"Who do you think you're looking down on!."

Before Jogo could finish, Mahito covered his mouth and took over the conversation with Kenjaku.

"You're right. That time at the reservoir, I was lucky enough to get a boost, and in the end, I was only slightly superior to him. Satoru Gojo's Domain is indeed terrifying."

Kenjaku wasn't listening to Mahito's words; instead, he felt Jogo's Cursed Energy, which had already surprised him, and realized it wasn't even his full strength, causing him to frown.

And this slight change in Kenjaku's expression was clearly captured by Mahito.

After thinking it over, since it had come to this, perhaps showing a bit of strength wouldn't be a bad thing.

He changed the subject, pointing at Choso nearby and asking Kenjaku.

"He's not a human, is he?"

"Is he one of yours too?"

"Yes, he is Choso. He's also responsible for stalling Satoru Gojo along with you. If there are no other questions, I'll go inform Jujutsu High to have Satoru Gojo come here," Kenjaku said, as he left the area alone.

Because the plot was different from the original, Choso had no interaction with the Cursed Spirits at this time. He was also sizing up the four great Cursed Spirits.

Mahito walked over slowly, waving and greeting him with a smile.

"You're Choso, right? Don't look so grim. We'll be comrades fighting together in a bit, so give us a smile~"

Even though the place was full of Humans, Mahito didn't care at all; after all, he was a Cursed Spirit, and he wouldn't be seen anyway.

"Hello."

Choso's reaction was relatively cold. As an Incarnated vessel, he hadn't actually decided whether he would live as a human or a curse in the future, so he didn't know how to react to Mahito's mention of being "comrades."

There was another reason: he had only agreed to help, not to risk his life to seal Satoru Gojo.

Mahito walked up to Choso, patted his shoulder, and whispered in his ear.

"Come over to the Cursed Spirits' side after Satoru Gojo is sealed. Don't you want to know where the guy who toyed with your mother is now?"

After hearing Mahito's words, those originally lifeless eyes suddenly widened.

"What..."

Just as Choso wanted to ask something, Mahito reached out a finger and made a silencing gesture.

"Don't get too excited. He can see."

Mahito spoke softly, his gaze glancing toward a corner at a Cursed Spirit Kenjaku was using for observation.

Then he smiled and made an 'OK' sign, while mouthing to Kenjaku on the other end.

"We'll get along just fine~"

Seeing Mahito's lip-reading, Kenjaku was actually amused by the audacity.

From Kenjaku's perspective, he had no idea what Mahito had said to Choso to cause such an obvious emotional reaction.

"Mahito..."

...Outside the Curtain, unlike the original story, Satoru Gojo, who should have entered the Curtain at 20:31...

The moment he received news of a Curtain appearing in Shibuya, he arrived on the scene earlier than anyone else by using the teleportation effect of 'Blue.' The time was currently 19:10.

At that exact moment, Satoru Gojo's phone rang. When he picked up, Yuta Okkotsu's anxious voice came through.

"Wait a moment, Gojo-sensei! Don't go in alone! Doing something like this in a busy downtown area is clearly a trap!"

[At this time, the message from inside the Curtain demanding Satoru Gojo's entry had not yet reached the outside world.]

Satoru Gojo simply said, "It's fine. I'm the strongest, after all."

"No! Twenty minutes, no, ten minutes! Gojo-sensei, wait ten more minutes until everyone arrives before we act together! Have you forgotten what happened in Kyoto that day?!"
