Chapter 80 - Chapter Seventy Nine: The Arrival of the First Judges

The sky did not simply darken.

It bowed.

Clouds that had drifted peacefully moments before were suddenly pulled into a vast spiral above Celestia's palace. The wind stilled, as if the air itself feared to move.

Across the realms, watchers felt it.

Not power.

Authority.

Ancient. Absolute. Unquestionable.

Six figures descended slowly from the heavens.

Their wings were not the soft white of modern celestial envoys. These wings burned like living constellations, each feather carrying symbols older than language itself.

Their armor was not decorative.

It was carved with law.

The Seraphim of First Judgment had arrived.

Lucien stepped forward onto the balcony, phoenix fire rising instinctively along his arms.

"Well," he muttered.

"They definitely look like executioners."

Beside him, Celestia remained still.

Her eyes followed the descending figures carefully—not with fear, but with recognition of what they represented.

The Spirit Guide appeared again, its silver form brighter than before.

"They have awakened fully," it said.

Lucien glanced at it.

"Do they always make such dramatic entrances?"

"They were designed to," the Guide replied calmly. "Their presence alone compels truth."

Lucifer, still leaning casually against the far pillar, watched the descent with visible interest.

"Oh yes," he murmured.

"I remember them."

Lucien shot him a look.

"You've met them before?"

Lucifer's smile was thin.

"Once."

"And?"

"They tried to erase me."

Lucien blinked.

"And you're still here."

Lucifer shrugged.

"I was very persuasive."

The Seraphim touched the ground slowly in the open courtyard.

The moment their feet met the stone, the entire palace trembled slightly.

Each one stood taller than any angel Celestia had ever seen. Their faces were calm, almost expressionless, but their eyes glowed with pure radiant fire.

They were not warriors.

They were verdicts.

The lead Seraphim stepped forward.

When it spoke, its voice echoed through every realm simultaneously.

"Celestia. Bearer of Balance."

Celestia stepped forward to meet them.

"I am here."

Lucien remained beside her, flames flickering across his shoulders like a living shield.

The Seraphim's burning gaze moved briefly to him.

"Phoenix heir."

Lucien nodded once.

"Judge."

The Seraphim continued.

"An accusation has been brought before First Judgment."

Celestia's voice remained steady.

"I know the accusation."

"State it."

"That I carry an unsanctioned convergence."

The Seraphim's wings shifted slightly.

"Correct."

The other five Seraphim spread out silently around the courtyard, forming a circle—not threatening, but unmistakably authoritative.

Across Heaven, the High Order watched anxiously.

This moment would determine everything.

The lead Seraphim spoke again.

"Balance has created life outside celestial authorization."

Celestia met its gaze.

"Yes."

The Seraphim continued.

"Phoenix bloodline is historically classified as controlled anomaly."

Lucien raised an eyebrow.

"Controlled?"

Lucifer chuckled quietly from the shadows.

"Try not to take it personally."

The Seraphim's attention returned to Celestia.

"The convergence within you must now be judged."

Celestia placed her hand calmly over her abdomen.

"Then judge."

The courtyard fell silent.

The lead Seraphim raised its hand.

From its palm emerged a sphere of white light. It floated slowly toward Celestia, stopping just inches from her.

The light pulsed.

Scanning.

Reading.

Understanding.

Lucien watched carefully, his fire ready to explode if anything went wrong.

But the light did not harm her.

Instead, it expanded.

Within the glowing sphere, a faint image appeared.

The unborn child.

A small, golden spark surrounded by threads of silver and flame.

Across the realms, gasps erupted.

The life inside Celestia was visible to everyone.

Lucien's eyes softened briefly.

"That's him…"

The Seraphim studied the image silently.

One of the other Judges spoke.

"The convergence is stable."

Another added.

"Balance does not resist the Phoenix flame."

A third voice followed.

"The child's essence shows no corruption."

High in Heaven's council chamber, tension exploded.

"That is not the conclusion they are supposed to reach," the Grand Adjudicator hissed.

Back below, the lead Seraphim lowered its hand slowly.

Its burning gaze shifted back to Celestia.

"Bearer of Balance."

"Yes?"

"Why was this life created?"

Lucien blinked.

"That's the question?"

Celestia answered simply.

"Because we chose it."

Silence.

Not hostile.

Contemplative.

The Seraphim seemed to consider her words carefully.

Then the lead Judge turned slightly toward the sky—toward Heaven itself.

"High Order of Heaven."

Its voice thundered across the celestial realm.

"You invoked First Judgment."

In the celestial hall, the Adjudicator stepped forward reluctantly.

"Yes."

The Seraphim's wings spread wider.

"You requested termination under Foundational Doctrine."

"Yes."

The Seraphim paused.

Then it spoke the words that sent shockwaves through every realm.

"The doctrine you invoked does not apply."

Silence fell like a collapsing star.

The Adjudicator's voice shook.

"Explain."

The Seraphim's response was calm and devastating.

"The Foundational Doctrine forbids forced convergence of primal powers."

Its burning eyes returned to Celestia and Lucien.

"This convergence was not forced."

Lucifer's smile slowly widened.

The Seraphim continued.

"It was chosen freely by both sources of power."

Lucien folded his arms proudly.

"Told you."

The Seraphim concluded its analysis.

"Under the original law of the Father of All… voluntary convergence is permitted."

The realms erupted with whispers.

The Adjudicator's face drained of color.

"That cannot be correct."

The Seraphim's gaze turned toward Heaven again.

"The law is older than your council."

Lucifer began clapping slowly.

"Magnificent."

Celestia exhaled softly.

The lead Seraphim looked back at her one final time.

"The child may live."

Lucien grinned widely.

"Best verdict I've heard all century."

But the Seraphim had not finished.

Its voice lowered slightly.

"However…"

The courtyard went still again.

Lucien sighed.

"There's always a however."

The Seraphim's burning eyes fixed on Celestia's abdomen.

"This child will alter the balance of the realms."

Celestia did not deny it.

"Yes."

The Seraphim's wings flared slightly.

"And because of that… he will also attract forces far older than Heaven."

Lucifer's smile faded slightly.

Now that was interesting.

Celestia asked quietly.

"What forces?"

The Seraphim's answer carried the weight of ancient memory.

"The ones who existed before celestial law."

Even the Spirit Guide dimmed slightly at those words.

Lucien looked up slowly.

"So…"

He cracked his knuckles.

"Now we're dealing with things older than angels."

The Seraphim turned toward the sky again.

"Our judgment is complete."

The six Judges began to rise back into the heavens.

But before leaving, the lead Seraphim spoke one last sentence.

"Prepare yourselves."

Its voice echoed across every realm.

"Because the birth of this child…"

The Seraphim's wings ignited like stars.

"…will awaken the First War."

And with that—

the Judges vanished into the sky.
