The X-Men moved immediately.
Students were ushered back into classrooms and secured behind reinforced doors. Emergency lockdown protocols engaged across the campus.
Moments later, the team assembled outside.
Professor Charles Xavier, pushed by Jean Grey, rolled forward to face Karl and Tony.
Wind from the hovering Stark helicopters whipped across the courtyard.
Charles spoke first.
"Mr. Karl… I apologize for my actions. There is no need for conflict. I was not acting of my own will alone."
Karl's eyes glowed with cold light.
"Too late, Charles."
His voice carried like ice cracking.
"You invaded my mind. When you failed, you used Peter to reach me. That line cannot be crossed."
Shadow energy rippled outward.
Figures emerged.
Hundreds.
Then more.
Then an army.
Shadow Ninjas filled the grounds.
Each carried Stark weaponry:
RPG launchers
Gatling guns
missile systems
heavy assault rifles
mortar launchers
Three units rolled forward Jericho missile platforms.
In seconds, over a thousand armed shadow soldiers formed a perimeter around the Xavier Institute.
Some weapons were trained on the X-Men.
Others… on the school buildings.
Jean stepped forward immediately.
"Wait! Please— we can talk!"
Her voice carried urgency.
"It doesn't matter what you do to us — but the children—"
Logan's jaw tightened.
Scott Summers' visor tilted toward the missile platforms.
Storm's eyes darkened with gathering clouds.
Tony glanced sideways at Karl but said nothing. He understood the message:
Karl was forcing absolute leverage.
Pyro (John Allerdyce) slowly shifted to Karl's flank, flame flickering between his fingers.
If he incapacitated Karl quickly…
the standoff might end.
Karl's gaze shifted to Jean.
"Talk? About what?"
His tone turned colder.
"You haven't even unleashed the Phoenix. What exactly do you intend to negotiate?"
Jean froze.
Charles's expression tightened.
Only a handful of people on Earth knew about the Phoenix Force sealed within her.
Tony looked between them.
"…Okay, that sounded important."
The First Strike
Pyro moved.
A fireball erupted toward Karl.
Karl's lips curved slightly.
The fireball stopped mid-air.
Reversed direction.
Slammed back into Pyro.
BOOM
Pyro was hurled across the lawn, crashing into stone.
Tony reacted instantly, launching into the air.
Repulsor blasts fired.
Colossus stepped forward, transforming into organic steel and shielding Xavier and Jean.
Cyclops pulled Xavier backward.
Storm raised her arms as winds surged.
Shadowcat phased into the ground.
Wolverine lunged.
Iceman formed an ice shield and launched forward on a frozen slide.
Beast moved toward the school building, evacuating remaining students.
Jean remained rooted in place — torn between restraint and catastrophe.
If she lost control…
the Phoenix might awaken.
Battlefield Ignites
Karl activated the Niga mask.
The Shadow Ninjas opened fire.
Missiles streaked toward the buildings.
Jean's eyes flared.
Every projectile froze mid-air.
Telekinetic force hurled them into empty structures beyond the campus.
Explosions thundered in the distance.
Karl watched calmly.
He knew Jean could not maintain that level of telekinetic interception indefinitely.
Ice vs Ice
Karl raised his hand.
A colossal ice dragon formed overhead and crashed downward.
It struck Wolverine and Iceman directly.
Logan was driven into the ground.
Bobby Drake cried out as the impact froze his ice constructs solid and shattered them.
His organic body, not yet at his Omega-level potential, struggled to reform.
He collapsed, nearly immobilized.
Logan rose again.
As always.
He charged.
Adamantium vs Heat Vision
Karl's eyes burned crimson.
Twin energy beams slammed into Logan.
The blasts hurled him backward repeatedly, scorching flesh faster than it could heal.
Logan roared in pain yet forced himself forward.
Scott saw the opening.
He twisted his visor control.
A full-power optic blast struck Karl.
Tony shouted:
"KARL!!"
Karl's torso shattered—
into ice.
Fragments reformed instantly.
His body reconstructed in seconds.
Tony stared.
"…That is completely against several laws of physics."
Karl glanced back with a faint smile.
"I told you. He can't kill me."
Air Combat
Above them, Tony engaged Storm and Colossus.
Storm summoned violent crosswinds to destabilize his flight vector.
Tony compensated with thruster stabilization.
Colossus hurled debris upward.
Tony intercepted with repulsor fire.
Shadowcat phased through incoming shrapnel and attempted to reach Tony from below.
Jarvis warned:
"Phasing entity detected."
Tony boosted altitude.
Battlefield StatusPyro: incapacitated
Iceman: critically slowed, near immobilization
Wolverine: repeatedly regenerating under laser assault
Jean: intercepting heavy weapons, nearing overload
Storm & Colossus: engaged with Iron Man
Cyclops: providing suppressive optic fire
Beast: evacuating students
Shadow Ninjas: maintaining overwhelming perimeter
Tony landed beside Karl briefly.
"My God… are you even human?"
Karl's eyes glowed icy blue.
"We talk later."
His gaze returned to the X-Men.
"For now…
they pay the price."
