Sora's hair stood on end instantly. His heart tightened violently as if he had fallen into an icy abyss.
A deadly sense of crisis engulfed his entire body.
This was not a Tailed Beast Ball launched by a jinchuriki.
It was fired directly by the tailed beast itself.
That meant its power and firing speed were on a completely different level.
"What terrifying chakra," Sora thought grimly.
Everyone present could feel the bone-chilling killing intent emanating from Shukaku as the massive black sphere condensed in its mouth.
This time the killing intent was completely different from before.
Previously Shukaku had been playing with him.
Now it truly intended to kill him.
The fact that it had used its unique tailed beast technique proved just how furious it had become.
Especially after Sora's Soul Devouring Hand had inflicted serious damage.
Watching this scene, Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Temari, and Kankuro were all struck with horror.
"I'll smash you into nothing!" Shukaku shrieked as the Tailed Beast Ball launched forward.
The massive sphere tore through the forest like a meteor.
Everything in its path was annihilated.
The speed was terrifying.
Even Sora had no time to dodge.
He could clearly feel that Shukaku had locked onto him completely.
Escape was impossible.
He could only resist.
"Blood Qi Burst!"
Sora immediately activated his strongest defensive technique and pushed it to its absolute limit.
Even so, he could not guarantee it would block the Tailed Beast Ball.
If he were a jonin—or even a Kage-level expert—the Blood Qi Burst would definitely be able to withstand the attack.
But he was not.
He was only a chunin.
Facing the strongest technique of a tailed beast, the outlook was grim.
Boom!
The collision produced an enormous explosion.
The violent clash of energy twisted the surrounding air.
Invisible shockwaves spread outward, flattening the ground for hundreds of meters.
"Summoning—"
Hidden nearby, Shizune's expression changed drastically.
She was about to rush forward to help Sora when she suddenly stopped.
Amid the smoke and ruins, Sora stood on a shattered rock.
His clothes were torn.
Blood hung from the corner of his mouth and stained his body.
But he was still standing.
His injuries were serious, yet not fatal.
Tsunade had been confident in allowing Sora to face Shukaku because she understood how powerful his Blood Qi Burst defense was.
Even a Tailed Beast Ball could not kill him while that technique was active.
Combined with Sora's powerful physique and numerous life-saving trump cards, Tsunade had felt reassured.
Especially with Shizune watching nearby.
"Blood…" Sora muttered quietly as he wiped the corner of his mouth.
"It's been a long time since I've been injured this badly."
Naruto and the others believed he was severely wounded.
In truth, they were correct.
Although Blood Qi Burst had blocked most of the Tailed Beast Ball's power, Sora's internal organs had still suffered serious damage.
For a moment he had truly felt the breath of death.
"You're still alive?" Shukaku snarled. "You have nine lives! But no matter how you struggle, you won't escape this lord's attacks!"
Seeing Sora covered in blood enraged Shukaku, but it also excited it.
This time it attacked again.
However, instead of a Tailed Beast Ball, it fired another Drill Air Bullet.
"I have to help him," Shizune said as she began forming hand seals.
"Shizune, don't interfere."
Sora's voice suddenly echoed through the air.
Shizune froze just before completing the final hand seal.
Her eyes widened as she stared at him.
"Shukaku," Sora said slowly as he raised his head, "to thank you for bringing me to the brink of death just now, I will repay you."
Both of Sora's eyes had turned completely crimson.
Previously only his pupils had changed color.
Now his entire eyes glowed blood red, radiating a violent and manic aura.
"I still cannot fully control it," Sora said quietly.
"But right now, it doesn't matter. This is my gift to you. And my gratitude for your help. Without you, I would not have awakened this ability so quickly."
"Blood Frenzy… activate."
Sora roared like a ferocious beast.
A terrifying killing aura erupted from his body as massive crimson light shot into the sky.
His blood began burning.
Scarlet flames formed around his body like a raging inferno.
"ROAR!"
Sora spread his arms as if embracing the heavens.
A violent whirlwind spread outward.
The surrounding people felt as if they had fallen into a sea of blood.
Just before the Drill Air Bullet struck him, Sora raised his right hand.
A crimson flame wrapped around his palm.
He grabbed the attack directly.
Rip!
The Drill Air Bullet was torn apart.
"What is that?" the surrounding people gasped.
Even Shizune felt suffocated by the terrifying aura.
Behind Sora, it seemed as if waves of blood were surging endlessly.
Whoosh!
Without anyone seeing his movement, Sora suddenly appeared directly in front of Shukaku.
His hand pressed against the giant beast.
"Soul Devouring Hand."
"AAARGH!"
For the first time, Shukaku screamed in pain.
Its enormous body was blasted backward more than a hundred meters, crushing trees and boulders along the way.
"Hiss!"
Everyone present inhaled sharply.
It was too terrifying.
Sora had become unbelievably powerful.
"It's not over yet!"
In an instant, Sora appeared above Shukaku.
He stomped downward violently.
"Heavenly Foot of Pain!"
The tremendous force crushed Shukaku's stomach inward as the ground shattered beneath them.
"Take my final blow."
"Blood Qi Burst."
Sora slammed both hands onto Shukaku's body.
An enormous pillar of crimson light erupted outward, several times larger than before.
Rip!
Shukaku's body was pierced through instantly.
The violent impact awakened the unconscious Gaara.
Blood burst from Gaara's mouth as the connection collapsed.
"Ah! No! I don't want to go back so soon!" Shukaku shrieked.
"I'll remember you!"
The massive beast disappeared instantly.
Due to the severe damage, Gaara could no longer maintain the transformation.
He reverted back to his original form.
"Shizune."
Sora's voice suddenly appeared beside her.
In the next moment, Shizune appeared beside him and quickly supported his body.
Without hesitation, she prepared to retreat immediately.
