Max tightened his grip on the handle of his hammer.
His shield remained raised in front of him.
And on the other side of the room stood the creature.
The monstrosity Will had become.
The black wings flapped erratically.
The caveman's muscles contracted beneath gray skin covered in scars and metal plates.
Fragments of the android continued releasing tiny electrical sparks.
And the face...
The face barely resembled Vesper's anymore.
Max swallowed.
Then he turned toward Thara.
"Thara."
The drow looked up.
"What?"
"Do you have one of those seals you said could send summons back to their own worlds?"
Thara's eyes widened slightly.
Then she nodded.
"Yes. I'm almost certain I do."
Max felt a bit of relief.
"Perfect."
"I should be able to find it."
She said.
"I wrote it down in my notebook."
The drow immediately began flipping through pages.
Her fingers moved rapidly through notes.
Diagrams.
Experiments.
Formulas.
Decades of research gathered in one place.
