"What?"
A chill fell down their spines. The air seemed colder, and they took a sharp breath.
"The new Dark Lord?" Basil asked, unaffected by the tense atmosphere.
Dumbledore nodded. "Yes, I taught him personally. He was talented and was the perfect boy to the teachers but he also enjoyed bullying others in the shadows."
"He was already evil in school?" Colin asked.
"You could say that," Dumbledore replied.
"Do you think it's has other purposes, other than opening the chamber of secrets?" Basil asked.
"I'm not sure, but from what I know of Tom, he wouldn't leave something like this anywhere."
Dumbledore sighed and closed the diary. Turning back to his students, he asked. "Could I borrow some of Miss Weasley's time for a moment? I have something to ask."
Seeing Ginny terrified, he added. "Don't worry, you won't be expelled or punished. Many wise wizards have been tricked by Voldemort."
It reassured Ginny a little bit and she calmed down.
"Okay," She whispered.
The others saw this and turned to leave. Soon only Ginny and Dumbledore were left in the office.
...
"Will Ginny be okay?" Colin asked nervously. It was his first time meeting the headmaster, so he was very nervous in the office.
"Don't worry she'll be fine," Basil was unconcerned, he knew Dumbledore well enough.
"What will you do now?" Luna asked from the side.
"I'm gonna sleep now," Basil said as he looked out the window towards the bright moon.
"I'm waiting for Ginny," Ron said as he stopped next to the gargoyle.
"I'll also wait," Colin said stopping as well.
Ron shook his head. "No, you go I will stay."
"But," Colin said but was interrupted by Basil, who shook his head.
"She'll be fine."
So Ron was left behind at the gargoyle and the rest went to their dormitories.
...
"Would you like some tea?" Dumbledore asked as he took out two teacups and a teapot.
"Yes please," Ginny said, hoping that the tea would calm her.
She took the teacup that was handed to her, it was warm and the warm aroma filled the air. She took a sip, the warm tea slowly slid down her throat.
"How Is it?" Dumbledore asked.
"It's good," She answered, she felt her nervousness melting with the tea and the Gryffindor inside of her slowly appeared.
Dumbledore noticed this and chuckled. "I already feel the difference in you."
Ginny shyly lowered her head, the courage that bubbled up inside her slowly faded, and she asked Dumbledore. "Why did you want me here?"
"Ah yes, I noticed that you seemed to know more about this diary than the others. Could you tell me more about it?" he asked.
"Um... well, I found it in my school books, originally I thought it was a gift from my father but after writing in it I found out that it could write back...
She continued to talk about the diary for several hours, while Dumbledore asked some more questions. Finally at midnight Ginny was finished and was finally allowed to leave.
As she passed the gargoyle, it pointed beside him and said. "Take him with you."
She looked over and saw Ron slumped against the wall.
"Sigh."
"Get up."
She shook him awake.
"W-What?" Ron said, startled.
"Get up. It's midnight," she repeated.
"Oh, are you okay?" He asked. Standing up, he grabbed Ginny's shoulders and checked her face.
"I'm fine now," she replied, shaking off his hands.
"Stop bothering me and get lost," the gargoyle suddenly said.
Startled, they nodded and started walking towards the Gryffindor common room.
They were walking silently through a hallway, moonlight shining through the windows. Ron was constantly glancing towards Ginny. He thought he was being sneaky but she couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.
"I'm fine now, you don't need to keep looking at me."
"Are you sure?"
She sighed as a smile slowly formed. Her brother was protective, but it didn't feel that bad.
They continued to walk towards the Gryffindor common room. As they walked through the entrance they noticed Hermione reading a book by the fireplace.
"Hey, are you guys okay?"
Hermione noticed them as they came in and closed the book she was reading.
"Yeah she is fine," Ron said, glancing at Ginny.
Hermione sighed in relief. "Ok, that's good."
"Let's go to bed, or we'll have a hard time waking up." Ginny said.
"It's already midnight, we're gonna to be tired tomorrow." Ron replied with a groan.
Hermione chuckled at Ron's expression and led Ginny towards the girl's dormitories, with Ron going to his.
