Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Raid Boss’ freedom

"HE WHAT!?" the guild receptionist replied after hearing from Exiled, Kit, and Noobie's explanation of the intent and the actions.

She restrains herself from spouting out language that's too profane for her area of work as she readjusts her posture.

"Wait here…" She reassured us, "I would have to wake up the guild master for this."

It'd take a long time; the sun was starting to show as dawn came. Exiled, and Kit kept watch as I'd constantly played with the candles in the emptied tavern now.

Then the guild master, followed by the guild receptionist and guild maids, would enter the tavern from the area behind the counter. They'd summon the 4 of us to the rear quarters, where they sealed the area with magical orbs to block off sound and detection magic.

Kit and Exiled would declare the course of action they wish to take: they wish to report the nobleman's actions to the guild, in accordance with the guild's law against harming adventurers who have successfully completed THEIR request and were not supposed to be harmed before, during, and after.

The guild master studied the case, and he listened with his eyes closed. He then stood up and looked out the back window, seeing the town bustling.

The guild master would refuse to help, as it's not a request he can issue himself; it would draw too much attention to the guild and could prompt other nobles to stop paying the guild altogether.

However, the Guild master then points out a loophole in the system to Exile and Kit, explaining that THEY can post up the request AS an investigation for adventurers to inquire and apprehend the nobleman. The guild master would have to pretend to have his hands tied to avoid the nobleman's connections to other commissioners.

Finally, without further ado, the guild receptionist provides Exile with a request paper, and Exile provides his own Omega seal, making the request officially instated as of now.

The request form was completed and posted on the notice board. Once morning had allowed operating hours to start and the taverns came to life, every Platinum adventurer who saw the request IMMEDIATELY ACCEPTED without question.

REQUEST FORM: INQUIRE INFORMATION ABOUT THE NOBELMAN

CLIENT: TEAM OMEGA

CONDITIONS: NOBLEMAN MUST REMAIN ALIVE AND CAPTURED TO BE PROSECUTED ACCORDINGLY TO GUILD LAW PER ADVENTURER CODE.

PAYMENT: AS REQUESTED BY GUILD

NOTES: The nobleman has employed assassins and mercenaries as his bodyguards.

SIGNED: (OMEGA SEAL)

Would it work, I wondered?

Then I saw it, an ARMY of platinum adventurers on horseback as they galloped to the nobleman's estate in haste. I followed by the window as they galloped through the town.

We'd hunker down in the guild taverns' employee bunk area, as that was the only safe place; nowhere else was any safer.

It took until the next day, from what I've heard, for the Platinum adventurers to assemble and surround the estate. The next morning, the nobleman awoke to shouts, taunts, and emotes from the adventurers as they charged into the estate.

The nobleman surrendered without question.

His bodyguards and elite assassins scattered without a fight; the adventurers were numerous beyond counting.

The adventurers apprehended the nobleman and investigated his estate; sure enough, down in the basement, they found a multitude of dungeons, housing a mass of elven girls, young and middle-aged. Mixed with humans and demi-humans in between.

The adventurers would escort both the nobleman and the captured girls to the guild headquarters at the capital.

The nobleman would be executed for misconduct of sex trafficking on multiple offenses, as well as a "NO LOOSE ENDS" adventurer law that was established to protect adventurers from dying to clients.

When the news reached me from the receptionist. We both cried, I was in her arms, because we were both elves, and for once we both shared that soft, gentle humanity relief.

The next day, I wore my clothes as usual. I went out into the tavern hall to find Team Omega's 3 stooges standing there waiting for me as usual.

But something was odd today.

"Oi…here's a request paper for you." Exiled said proudly as he handed the paper to me.

"Heh, geez, this guy." Kit smug self-inserted.

Noobie smiles.

I was puzzled, then I looked at the Request form.

REQUEST FORM: FREE BOSS GIRL FROM CORRUPTION

CLIENT: THE ELF GIRL WHO LOOKS CLUELESS ABOUT EVERYTHING (IN BAD HANDWRITING)

CONDITIONS: BOSS GIRL REMAINS ALIVE AND WELL.

PAYMENT: 3 COINS

NOTES: She's got enough gear and income to start adventuring, perhaps make a name for herself, and even help or contribute to making the world a better place. Don't displace your trust in her; she'll always perform well.

SIGNED: (OMEGA SEAL) (NOOBIE'S SEAL)

As I lifted my gaze away from the form and stared up, Exile and Kit were already gone, leaving only Noobie behind. He handed me 3 more gold coins, smiled, and nodded in approval as he left.

"Wait-" I shouted.

"You're free to wander and go as you please; you are not obligated to follow Team Omega, nor are you allowed to do so." He turns his head to his shoulder, "I believe you will do great…"

I was speechless. There weren't any words to say to thank him and his group for what they've done.

Then he'd exhale a sigh of relief as he started to walk on a long journey once again to follow his party members, as his flame sprite appeared on his shoulder once more, keeping him warm.

Then, to my surprise, I didn't notice it before, but my health bar no longer had Noobie's on top of mine, or Exile's, nor Kit's.

My health bar was all alone.

The guild receptionist, who had finished processing paperwork and had overheard the conversation, then shared her remarks after Noobie was gone.

"You know, the seal on that summoning companion wore off long ago…" the guild receptionist said in a taunting manner, sounding a bit jealous, "How it must have been adventuring with the Team Omega."

I cried, the tears flowing down my cheeks as I stared back at her while she made her way around the reception desk to comfort me.

Will I ever see them again?
