The rain on Papaya Island had finally stopped.
After a night of torrential downpour, the tropical island looked freshly washed. The air carried the scent of sea salt, wet earth, and broad-leaved plants.
Sunlight pierced through the heavy clouds, casting golden beams onto the damp streets and raising thin mist from the ground.
The island's most famous restaurant, Full Belly Feast, was currently facing the greatest crisis in its history.
Or rather, the greatest business opportunity.
"Boss! Ten more bowls of rice! Make them large! And five more plates of that meat on the bone!"
The energetic shout made the chandeliers tremble slightly.
In a corner of the restaurant, stacks of plates formed a small fortress, completely hiding the diner inside.
Waiters ran back and forth in a frenzy, sweat soaking their uniforms.
"This is already the fifth round of extra orders…" the restaurant owner muttered, wiping cold sweat from his forehead while watching the bill climb higher and higher.
"Is that spiky-haired young man's stomach connected to another dimension?"
Behind the mountain of dishes, Goku devoured food at terrifying speed.
He grabbed a whole roasted chicken, chewed through bone and meat alike, and swallowed happily.
"Delicious! I've been eating wild fruit and grilled fish for three years. I almost forgot how good rice tastes!"
His cheeks bulged like a hamster's.
Across from him, Krillin appeared much more composed.
He held a cup of hot tea, gently blowing away the steam.
Although his appetite far surpassed ordinary people, since obtaining [Genius Intellect], he had learned to regulate his body efficiently.
His cells extracted energy from food at maximum efficiency, reducing the need for constant overeating.
"Eat slowly. No one's competing with you," Krillin said calmly.
His eyes subtly analyzed Goku's muscular frame.
Though Goku suppressed his Aura, Krillin could see it clearly.
Goku was like a dormant volcano, containing explosive power beneath the surface.
"So you've been training at the Lookout these three years?" Krillin asked.
"Mm-hmm!"
Goku swallowed a steak and burped.
"Mr. Popo trained me first. He's amazing. I couldn't hit him no matter what I did. He taught me Stillness, to be calm like the sky and fast like lightning."
A rare seriousness flickered across Goku's face.
"Later, Kami let me enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber."
Krillin's fingers paused, "The Hyperbolic Time Chamber?"
"It's terrifying. Endless white space, thin air, heavy gravity. I stayed for a month and almost went crazy."
Krillin nodded thoughtfully.
That place sharpened strength, but it also tested one's mind.
"But the coolest thing was going back to the past!" Goku said excitedly. "I met a young Master Roshi, and I even met Master Mutaito!"
Yamcha, who was eating nearby, dropped his fork.
"You went back in time?"
"It's true!" Goku insisted. "Now I can sense things better. For example…"
He suddenly closed his eyes.
"There's an angry Qi at the door. It's like burning fire."
The restaurant door slammed open.
Everyone turned.
A tall girl in a blue and red qipao-style martial arts uniform stood there. Her skin was pale as jade, her long black hair fluttering slightly.
Her delicate face was twisted with fury.
Her eyes scanned the room and locked onto Goku.
"Hmph!"
The sound carried enough grievance to crack a nearby wineglass.
Goku froze.
It was the girl from registration.
But who was she?
She had greeted him enthusiastically earlier, but when he failed to remember her name, she had stormed off.
The girl marched forward, boots clicking sharply.
Goku blinked at her, still holding half a chicken leg.
He slowly extended it toward her.
"Are you hungry too? Do you want this?"
Silence fell over the restaurant.
Her face flushed red with rage.
"You… you really don't remember me?!" Her finger trembled as she pointed at him.
"You big idiot!"
Goku turned helplessly toward Krillin.
"Krillin, do you know her?"
Krillin took a calm sip of tea.
Of course he knew.
Chi-Chi.
The Ox-King's daughter.
The future wife who would make the strongest Saiyan tremble.
"Probably a romantic debt from your past," Krillin said lightly. "Think harder."
"I really don't remember…"
Chi-Chi stomped her foot.
Crack.
The marble floor shattered in a spiderweb pattern.
"I'm never talking to you again, Goku!"
She turned and stormed out.
"What a strange person," Goku muttered while resuming his meal. "But her leg strength is impressive."
Krillin glanced at his System panel.

"This tournament has more drama than I expected," Krillin said with a faint smile. "Good luck, Goku."
The next morning, the preliminary hall of the Martial Arts Temple.
Hundreds of contestants filled the dim space. The air reeked of sweat, liniment, and tension.
A massive drawing box stood in the center.
"Line up! Same number means duel!" a staff member shouted.
In one corner, the Crane School trio stood out.
Tien Shinhan crossed his arms, observing everyone coldly.
Chiaotzu raised a pale finger discreetly toward the drawing box.
"Tien, should I separate us?" he asked telepathically.
"Yes. Don't let us meet in the preliminaries."
Psychic energy rippled invisibly.
In Krillin's perception, the world turned into flowing data.
[Mental Energy detected. Source: Chiaotzu.]
[Psychokinesis altering drawing order.]
Krillin could clearly see the numbered balls shifting unnaturally inside the box.
But he did nothing.
He didn't want to meet Goku, Tien Shinhan, or Piccolo yet either.
The finals were the real stage.
"Play as you like," Krillin thought calmly.
He stepped forward and drew a ball.
Number 8.
He glanced at his attributes.

Power surged like a rising tide.
On Earth at this time, this was overwhelming.
He exhaled softly.
"Being invincible can be lonely."
Hands in his pockets, he walked leisurely toward his assigned battlefield.
"I hope I at least break a little sweat."
