Chapter 16 - The Mastermind Headquarters

Meanwhile, somewhere far from the city—inside a private estate hidden in the Swiss mountains—the mastermind sits in a modern control room.

Large digital screens show global market data.

Financial maps.

Security intelligence.

He watches the disruption spreading through De Luca operations.

A Meridian Circle representative stands beside him.

"You promised results," the man says.

The mastermind smiles slightly.

"You'll have them."

"But De Luca is still standing."

"Of course he is."

The mastermind turns his chair toward the screen displaying Adrian and Elara leaving a recent charity event.

"You don't destroy a king immediately."

"You weaken the kingdom first."

Then he adds quietly:

"And you separate the king from his queen."

The Next Stage

Back in the city, Adrian receives a classified report from his security chief.

An unknown group is buying property near key De Luca facilities worldwide.

Airports.

Shipping ports.

Communication hubs.

Elara studies the map.

"This is infrastructure control."

The mastermind isn't just attacking.

He's positioning himself to control global logistics networks.

If he succeeds, he could influence trade across multiple countries.

Adrian looks at the map for a long moment.

Then he says calmly,

"He's building an empire."

Elara meets his gaze.

"Then we stop him before it's finished."

That night, Adrian and Elara stand together on the balcony overlooking the glowing city.

The wind is cold, but neither moves.

The war has grown bigger than either of them expected.

But they're no longer just defending themselves.

Now they understand the battlefield.

Adrian finally speaks.

"This isn't just about him anymore."

Elara nods.

"It's about the system behind him."

Adrian's voice becomes steady.

"Then we dismantle the system."

Elara's eyes harden with determination.

"Together."

--------------------------------

Same time another place somewhere far

Far away in the mountains, the mastermind watches the same city skyline on his screen.

And he smiles.

Because the game he has been preparing for one entire year has finally began

Three days after the global financial attacks begin, Adrian is in his private office at De Luca Consortium headquarters.

Night has fallen outside the glass walls. The city lights glow beneath the building like a sea of gold.

Adrian sits alone reviewing encrypted security reports.

Most attacks have been stabilized.

But something strange appears in the system logs.

One file is labeled:

"Archive – Pre-Consortium Operations."

Adrian frowns slightly and observing.

This archive contains records from the earliest days of his empire—before De Luca Consortium became powerful.

The file has been accessed recently.

But not by Adrian.

He checks the access code.

The name appears on the screen.

Victor De Luca.

Adrian's uncle.

The man who helped him build his first business empire.

A man Adrian trusts completely.

Adrian's expression becomes colder.

Because Victor retired from the company five years ago.

And he shouldn't have access to this archive anymore.

Adrian's Memory

Adrian leans back slowly in his chair.

Victor was more than an uncle we can say a father figure for him.

He was the man who taught Adrian how power works .

How to control and influence people under power.

How to handle everything.

When Adrian was young and building his first investment firm, Victor stood beside him.

He gave advice.

He opened connections for him.

He helped Adrian avoid dangerous mistakes and support Adrian in every steps.

Without Victor, Adrian's rise would have been much slower.

So why would Victor access secret archives now?

And more importantly…

Why do the timestamps match the mastermind's attacks?

Elara Notices Something

Later that night in the penthouse, Elara notices Adrian's silence.

He stands at the window, watching the city.

"You're thinking too loudly," she says softly.

Adrian turns slightly.

"is it That obvious?"

"Yes."

She walks closer to him.

She asked Adrian

"What did you find?"

Adrian shows her the file.

Elara reads the name carefully.

"Victor De Luca."

She looks up.

"Your uncle."

"Yes."

"And he accessed confidential records right before the attacks."

Adrian nods once.

Elara thinks carefully.

"Either someone used his credentials…"

"…or he wanted those files opened."

Adrian doesn't answer immediately.

Because both possibilities are dangerous.

Investigating Victor

Adrian's private intelligence team quietly begins checking Victor's activities.

What they discover is unsettling.

Victor has been traveling frequently during the past year.

Cities include:

• Geneva

• Vienna

• Prague

• Zurich

Every city connected to Meridian Circle financial operations.

But none of these trips were reported to Adrian.

Elara studies the travel records.

"This isn't coincidence."

Adrian asks one question.

"Is he a traitor?"

Elara shakes her head slowly.

"Maybe."

"Or maybe he's a piece on someone else's board."

The Confrontation

Adrian decides not to investigate secretly any longer.

He calls Victor to the penthouse.

Because he wants clarity.

The meeting happens late at night.

Victor arrives looking exactly as Adrian remembers him—calm, intelligent, dignified.

The older man studies Adrian's serious expression.

"This doesn't look like a friendly dinner invitation."

Adrian gestures toward the chair.

"Sit."

Victor sits calmly.

Elara stands quietly near the window, observing everything.

Adrian places the file on the table.

"You accessed this archive."

Victor glances at the screen.

"Yes."

Adrian's voice remains controlled.

"Why?"

Victor sighs slightly.

"I was wondering when you'd notice."

The room becomes very still.

Victor's Truth

Victor leans back in his chair.

And looking at Adrian.

"I didn't betray you," he says calmly.

"But I did meet them."

Adrian's eyes narrow.

"Meridian Circle."

Victor nods.

"They approached me last year."

Elara walk towards Adrian

"What did they want?"

Victor looks directly at Adrian.

"You."

Silence.

"They know your empire is growing too powerful," Victor continues.

"They wanted information about your systems."

Adrian asks quietly,

"And what did you give them?"

Victor answers immediately.

"Nothing."

Then he adds something unexpected.

"I joined them instead."

Adrian's expression doesn't change—but the tension in the room sharpens

The Real Twist

Victor explains carefully.

He joined Meridian Circle as a spy.

He wanted to understand the network attacking Adrian.

But something went wrong.

The mastermind joined Meridian Circle soon after.

And he quickly began reshaping the organization's strategy.

Victor looks at Elara.

"He talks about you often."

Her eyes narrow.

"I'm sure he does."

Victor turns back to Adrian.

"The mastermind isn't just attacking your empire."

"He's preparing to take control of Meridian Circle itself."

The Warning

Victor's voice becomes serious.

"You think this war is about business."

"It's not."

Adrian watches him carefully.

Victor continues:

"The mastermind wants to build a system where he controls global influence networks."

"Financial markets."

"Political pressure."

"Private intelligence."

"And he believes you're the only man powerful enough to challenge him."

"And he is somewhat obsessed with Elara too."

'He wants everything what's supposed to be his Power, Control, Influence over people live. '

Elara crosses her arms.

"So this is personal."

Victor nods.

"Very."

Adrian walks slowly toward the window.

The city stretches below him.

His empire.

His responsibility.

Behind him, Victor speaks quietly.

"The mastermind will strike again soon."

Adrian's voice is calm.

"I know."

Victor asks one last question.

"What will you do?"

Adrian turns back toward them.

His eyes steady.

"I Will stop him."

Elara steps beside him.

"But Not alone."

Victor watches them both.

And for the first time that night…

He smiles.

Because the mastermind may have started a war.

But now Adrian and Elara understand the entire battlefield.
