Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: System

Roy was eating food in his room, he was a little confused. "(She will wait for my answer, but what was the question?)"

Rosy was standing beside him, quietly.

"Hey Rosy, my memories are blurred after waking up. Can you answer some of my questions?" Roy said.

Rosy smirked. "Hmph, of course young master It's my job.."

Roy's mind filled with joy. "(A tsundere maid, thank you god.)" Roy took one bite."Tell me everything about my family."

"Let me see, You are the third son of king Alaric. I heard that you were complaining about business books. But you should know that you are his third son; and the third son always inherited the Valemort business." Rosy gave him a glass of water. "It's the rule of the Valemort house. The firstborn inherits the throne and the rest… adapt. the second born will be commander, and the third born will manage their business."

Roy ate all his food.

Rosy picked that plate. "That's all I know." She turned to leave the room. "You should rest now. If you need anything. You can tell any maid. She will inform me but I will come whenever I want."

"(Love you.)" Roy stood up and walked around the room. "Now I have some details of this world. But it's not going to be enough. If I have to survive then I will use human's biggest weapon. But if I am here then where is Lucian's soul." Roy stopped for a second. "If he died. It means… I become a variable in this world. If I have to survive in this world, then I have to become constant."

[Anomaly detected a candidate]

[Congratulations, you have been selected.]

A cracked grey-coloured window appeared in front of Roy. Cracks were glowing golden in colour.

"hmm, a system." Roy's intelligence went down and nerd Roy came back. "Yes,Now it's time to become unbeatable." Roy got crazy when he saw a system window.

[Installing….]

[System installed]

Roy's happiness faded. When he saw the system. "What kind of system is this? Where are the strength, stamina, and agility sections? And why is this locked?" Roy got annoyed. He was wildly clicking on the screen.

Roy used 'Fate Vision' eyes pupil turned red. Roy, but he didn't see anything.

[–4 FP]

"What, 4FP is already used; on top of that, this skill doesn't do anything." Roy scratched his hair.

[Quest]

[Your core stability is below 50%; make it above 50%.]

[Reward: magic and Threads will unlock.]

[Hint: Absorb mana from surrounding.]

"So it's like a cultivation, hmm. I should trust a little on this system." Roy sat down on his bed in a straight pose and closed his eyes. He connected his index fingers and thumbs together to complete the mana circuit. "It will work. Thank you, my cultivation novels."

It's Roy's first time doing core training, but he was doing better than an amateur.

The sun had already set. Roy opened his eyes.

"Haaa…." Roy got relaxed and calm. "Let's see my core stability. System." Nothing happened. "Hmm, screen." Still nothing popped up. "window, memory, status."

He tried everything but the system didn't pop up. He got furious. "What kind of 'Fate' i have? Ev…." System appeared.

[Core stability: 20%]

"Whatttt…" He was shocked. "I cultivated for the whole day and gained nothing."

Roy lay down on the bed. "Again a failure. I don't want to live in this new world."

Roy turned his head to the right side. He saw a bowl of water that Rosy was using to wet the towel. And wet cloth was on the wooden desk.

"Water will ruin wood." Roy stood up and put that wet cloth in a bowl. He saw a thumbnail-sized blue stone in a bowl.

He picked that stone. When he picked up that stone, in an instant that stone was banished.

[Mana absorbed.]

[Congratulations, your core has been fully healed.]

A faint smile appeared on his face. "So, the problem is the low density of mana in my room. Now I know what I should do?" He went outside from his room. He saw a guard standing in the corridor. Roy went towards him.

A guard bowed in front of him. "Good evening, young master Lucian."

"I want some mana stones. Bring me some." Roy tried to order him as a Lucian.

The guard was stunned for a second. "My apologies, young master. I am unable to bring you, young master."

"You should have a better reason to say 'no' to me." Roy tried to force him.

"As a queen, she controls mana stone distribution, and it's very difficult for anyone to ask her for mana stones." That guard was scared. He got between two nobles.

Roy noticed him and tried to calm him down. "It's fine; I'll ask her myself. Can you tell me where she is?"

"The queen is in her office, Milord." The guard pointed in the direction. Roy went in that direction.

That guard was shocked. "You changed quite a lot, young master. When did you become this soft?" He murmured.

Roy was walking in the corridor. He didn't know where to go. He was just roaming around. Today his luck was at its peak. He saw Rosy cleaning the window in the corridor.

He went near her. "Rosy, can you tell me where my mother's office is?"

Rosy told him directions. "But why are you asking for a queen?"

"It's nothing; I just want some mana stones." Roy told her.

Rosy smirked. "I hope your wish comes true." After saying that, she started cleaning windows again.

Roy moved towards Nayra's office while taunting Rosy. "Does she know her tongue is quite sharp?"

Roy finally reached his destination. He knocked on the gate, and Nayra was allowed to enter. When Roy entered, he saw Nayra was sitting on a chair in front of him. She was reading some documents while wearing glasses. There was a window behind her that gave natural light in the office.

"What do you want?" She said without looking towards him.

"Good evening, Mother." He bowed in front of her.

She raised her head and saw her son was standing there. She glassed off. "What happened, dear? Is there something you need?"

"I want some mana stones." Roy said without hesitation.

She smiled calmly. "I may have a large stock of mana stone, but do you know, dear, there is nothing free in this world? So, if you want mana stones, then you should give me something."

"(Interesting… so she doesn't rely on Father's treasury.)" Roy thought for a second and said with a calm face. "I'll give you the answer that you asked me."

"Ohh, great! Tell me your answer." She leaned on the table.

"Ask again to remove any misunderstanding." Roy asked confidently. He was scared from inside because he didn't know what the question was.

"As you say, so tell me, dear, which branch you are going to choose from our company." She asked him again.

Roy calculated every branch, and he chose his best. "I'll choose a dungeon company."

"Sorry, but you can't." She refused his choice.

Roy was shocked, but he calmed himself. "You asked for my answer, and I gave you it. Then why are you refusing it?"

"Because you can't use magic, and in the dungeon company there are S-rank adventures that you can't handle without your power." She gave him her reason why he couldn't choose a dungeon company.

Roy looked directly in her eyes. "People are loyal to whoever feeds them."

Nayra was stunned when she saw his eyes. She saw an abyss in his eyes. She saw hunger. "It's not your money, dear. It's my husband's money."

"Then I'll make it. Far greater than father." Roy's words showed his confidence.

"Great, I like your confidence." Nayra stood up and went to the book shelf placed on the right side.

She took out one book from the shelf. There was an aether plate behind that book. She cut her thumb with her teeth and put it on a plate.

That plate glowed blue. She lowered her hand. The whole book shelf moved to the left side. There was a locker box behind that shelf. She opened that box. That box had many big mana stones. She took out two mana stones. Their length was palm-sized.

She put that in a bag and handed it to Roy. "I don't know what you will do with these stones. All I can say is be careful. I don't want my favourite son to hurt. And be ready in the morning. We will go to the dungeon branch as promised."

Roy left her office and went to his room. He started mana core training again.

He sat down on the bed like before. But this time he placed a mana stone between his index fingers and thumbs.

Next day

In the morning. Roy was dressing up for his new journey. "Let's go; my journey begins now. But before that let's see the system and my rewards."
