Chapter 34 - A New Path
Kai stared out of his cell, his eyes trailing across the runes carved into the walls.
Kai mentally spoke, "Item Box."
A screen appeared before him. Inside were two things: a short sword and a short katana.
Kai spoke, "How much can I place within the Item Box?"
The system once again spoke emotionlessly.
[You can fit 5 items within your Item Box.]
Kai smiled as he ate the food Nova had left for him.
Kai spoke mentally, "Activate Sharp Sight."
Kai closed his eyes, yet even with them shut, he could mentally see the entire area around him.
In fact, he could see far more than that.
There were many more cells surrounding him. Around 200 cells surrounded Kai's own. His cell was one of the closest to the main door.
He quickly realized he was underground at a depth of nearly 50km because he could not see above himself clearly. There was only endless darkness before he noticed people he did not know moving around. They wore the clothes of second years.
Kai silently realized he could not really use all 50km around him at once, but only in one direction.
However, when he tried to see the entire area around him, his vision dropped drastically all the way down to 50 meters.
Kai kept his eyes closed as he looked around his tiny cell. It only had two rooms and a bathroom.
Kai chuckled.
"Not even the bathroom is safe from the runes, huh?"
Kai went silent for a moment before speaking again.
"System... you said I gained Bloodline Training. Can it change the rank of my bloodline?"
[Yes. It can.]
A slow grin appeared on Kai's face.
"Well then, how do I start?"
[First, the same way you learned mana control, but with your bloodline. If you look into your body while using Complete Vision, you will see two very unequal liquids. The gold one is mana. The red one is bloodline essence that is created within your bloodline core inside your heart.]
Kai slowly nodded.
[You must learn to control the red energy and spread it throughout your entire body as your bloodline core naturally creates more and more essence. This process will put great strain on your bloodline core. In your world, this is called 'Secondary Awakening.' It is as if your bloodline core has awakened once again to a new standard, but in reality it has merely been pushed to a new limit.]
For most of Kai's skills, he did not even need the system to activate them for him because he already knew how they felt when they activated. Because of that, it was easy for him to replicate the sensation himself.
Kai silently activated a sub-skill of God Eyes, Complete Vision.
Just like the first time, the world exploded into colors before him, yet unlike before, it was red instead of a golden mist.
[The red shows areas where you are unable to use mana.]
The runes that swallowed mana glowed with a deep amber color.
Kai took a deep breath as he diverted his gaze toward his own body.
