Thiago looked personally attacked when Santiago's gaze landed on him.
"In my defense, I always carry one," he said.
"That does not improve your defense."
Thiago sighed heavily. "Fair."
Beside them, Nicolas quietly looked away, clearly deciding not to involve himself further in Thiago's funeral. Meanwhile, Valentina had gone strangely quiet, frowning slowly while she studied Santiago more carefully now, like pieces inside her head were finally beginning to connect properly. Then realization crossed her face, and her eyes widened.
"Wait," she said, and nobody liked that tone immediately.
Valentina slowly looked toward Daniella, then toward Santiago, then toward Thiago, and finally, the entire disaster fully connected inside her mind. Her expression shifted instantly into horror.
"Oh my goodness."
Thiago already looked tired beyond human limits. "What now?"
Valentina pointed weakly toward Daniella. "She's his wife?"
