Chapter 108 - Chapter 108: The Mortal Examination, the God’s Game, the Art of Creation

Yet Lin Sen… did not move at all.

At the very instant that crimson beam was about to strike him—

"The first level of the 'Dao' of defense," Lin Sen's calm voice rang out in everyone's ears, "is reflection."

He didn't even raise his eyes.

With nothing more than a thought—

The red beam froze abruptly just centimeters from his chest… then, at a speed even faster and fiercer than before, it shot straight back along its original path!

With a loud boom, it slammed into Sirius Black's own Shield Charm, sending the seasoned Auror—chair and all—skidding backward several meters!

A collective gasp swept through the room.

Reflecting a high-level spell… with a single thought?

"But this… is only the most superficial level of the Dao," Lin Sen continued, ignoring the shock around him.

"Because it still remains at the level of confrontation. True defense is not confrontation… but creation."

His gaze shifted to Harry Potter.

"Mr. Potter, your Patronus Charm is quite excellent."

Harry flushed instantly, sitting up straighter in excitement.

"But it is merely an 'energy construct' that repels darkness—a hollow projection."

Lin Sen raised his hand.

"The higher level of the Dao… is materialization. To imbue your will—your finest emotions—with… true life."

Softly, he spoke the familiar incantation:

"Expecto Patronum."

Yet what surged from his palm was no longer any known silvery Patronus.

Instead—

A radiant, golden brilliance erupted forth, as if forged from pure life itself and divine law!

Within that light, a creature… beyond description… slowly took shape.

It bore the body of a lion, the head and wings of an eagle. Its feathers shimmered like flowing gold; its eyes burned like twin suns, radiating boundless majesty and sanctity.

A griffin?

No—something far more sacred than any griffin of legend.

The golden divine beast let out a piercing cry that seemed to make all darkness tremble—then gently nuzzled Lin Sen's hand.

It… was alive.

A true living being, with its own will.

The classroom fell into utter silence. No one could think anymore.

So… the end of the Patronus Charm… was the creation of life?

"But whether reflection or creation," Lin Sen went on, "both still exist within the rules."

With a casual wave, the golden beast dissolved into countless motes of light.

"And the ultimate Dao of defense…"

A divine light flickered in his eyes.

"…is the power to define the rules."

He raised his hand and lightly clenched the air before him.

"For example…"

"I declare that within this classroom, all offensive magic… is nullified."

The moment his words fell—

An invisible, supreme force of law enveloped the entire room.

Kingsley, Lupin, and Sirius—all top-tier wizards—turned pale instantly.

They could feel it clearly: every offensive spell within them had been completely sealed.

They could still cast levitation charms, cleaning spells—

But even the simplest Disarming Charm… was now impossible.

Not due to lack of magic.

But because the rules of this space… no longer allowed it.

This was a miniature demonstration of [Eternal Barrier].

This… was what a god called true defense.

Reflect spells.

Create life.

Define laws.

In less than five minutes, Lin Sen had revealed the insurmountable gulf between mortal, legendary, and divine realms.

The class ended in a silence so profound it bordered on suffocation.

No one even remembered how they left the room.

In their minds remained only three images—and one figure like a creator god.

Dumbledore personally recorded every detail of the lesson into a memory crystal.

In the years to come, it would be known as:

"The Revelation of God."

It became the eternal first chapter of every Defense Against the Dark Arts textbook—unmatched, unchallenged, and destined to be revered for generations.

As the term drew to a close, tension spread among the seventh-years.

The N.E.W.T.s (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests) were approaching.

The most critical—and most difficult—exam of a wizard's life.

The library burned with light day and night.

Common rooms were piled high with books.

Even Fred and George Weasley had put aside their jokes to study seriously.

Hermione had practically become a walking library, helping others while preparing herself.

Everyone was pushing to their limits.

Everyone… except one person.

Lin Sen remained as relaxed as ever.

Most of his time was spent in his private laboratory atop the Institute of Myriad Spells, researching incomprehensible runes of world origin.

Occasionally, he would sit by the Gryffindor fireplace reading Muggle science fiction novels—as if the upcoming exams meant nothing at all.

And no one found it strange.

After all—

Asking a being who could define laws… to review basic spells?

That would be an insult.

At last, the exam day arrived.

The examiners—led by the strict and respected Griselda Marchbanks—entered Hogwarts with full authority.

But the moment she saw the first name on the candidate list—

Her hand trembled.

The parchment slipped from her grasp.

Her face was drained of all color.

"C-Candidate List—Hogwarts Examination Center"

First: Lin Sen

Panic spread instantly.

"Lin Sen? That Lin Sen?!"

"We're… testing him?"

"What right do we have to test him?!"

Their authority shattered completely.

Finally, Marchbanks whispered in despair:

"We… what qualification do we have… to examine him?"

Ancient Runes Exam

The paper was placed before Lin Sen.

He glanced at it.

Then shook his head.

Too simple.

Primitive.

Using such crude symbols to describe magic… was an insult.

So—

He did something unprecedented.

He didn't use a quill.

He raised a finger.

Golden light gathered at his fingertip.

And he began to write directly onto the parchment.

Not in any known language—

But in a brand-new script composed of profound, living symbols.

Each character burned like fire, flowed like water, spun like stars.

They were not symbols.

They were laws.

A divine language.

He titled his essay:

"On the Origins of Magic and Its Fundamental Connection to World Laws"

When he finished—

The parchment erupted in radiant golden light.

It had become… a sacred artifact.

Marchbanks approached in a daze.

Though she couldn't understand it, she felt the truth within.

A lifelong bottleneck… shattered instantly.

Tears streamed down her face.

This exam—

It was already decided.

And then came the next test:

Potions Practical Exam

The task:

To brew one of the most difficult potions in N.E.W.T. history—

Felix Felicis (Liquid Luck).

And this time—

The examiners would witness not just brilliance…

But true, overwhelming, dimensional superiority.
