The two evening self-study sessions passed quickly.
Ian Donovan waited at the entrance of Class One.
When he saw Nina Donovan come out, he hurried forward. "I'll walk home with you."
Nina was surprised. "Are you sure you want to go back? The atmosphere at home isn't great."
Ian shook his head. "It's fine... I want to go back too, to see my sister."
Thinking of Lily Donovan, Nina nodded in understanding. "Right. After all, she's the only sister you acknowledge. Let's go together then."
Ian wanted to say something.
But Nina didn't wait for him at all.
Even her tone was casual, as if she hadn't taken his past words to heart. It was like he was the only one taking it seriously.
Jasper Sherwood walked past him and, amidst the bustling crowd, deftly grabbed hold of Nina's backpack.
"Wait."
Hearing that familiar voice, Nina had a gut feeling. 'This guy is definitely up to no good again.'
