The Arundo Club was as elegant and quiet as ever.
Ivy Holden arrived early, so there were few other guests. Susan Spencer was speaking with a manager at the bar, but she looked up, saw Ivy, and hurried over to greet her. "Good evening, Miss Holden. I just heard from my staff that you made a reservation. Why didn't you just call me? Next time you want to dine here, let me know directly. I'll be sure to arrange everything for you."
Ivy Holden smiled. "You're too kind, Ms. Spencer. It's nothing important, I'm just meeting a friend for dinner. I came because I love how peaceful it is here."
Susan Spencer led Ivy Holden further inside. "How is your grandfather?" she asked. "I called President Holden first thing this morning, hoping to pay him a visit, but he said your grandfather needs quiet rest and isn't seeing visitors, so I didn't dare disturb him."
