Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Pani's Confusion

Bai Lian placed her on an examination bed, and Pani skillfully picked up a nearby diagnostic tool, beginning a thorough inspection of Su Yaoyao's leg wound.

Throughout the examination, Pani's expression was intensely focused. His eyes were glued to the data displayed on the instrument after the scan, and he would occasionally furrow his brow.

This made Bai Lian extremely nervous, terrified that something might happen to the little female.

After a moment, Pani finally stopped what he was doing, looked up at Bai Lian, and said, "It's nothing serious. It's just that human genes make for slow wound recovery."

After speaking, he glanced at Su Yaoyao again, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. He seemed quite interested in the unique genetic makeup of humans.

Pani stroked his chin, thoughtfully saying, "Actually, a Beastman's saliva can accelerate wound healing, and it has no side effects. I think it would be an excellent remedy for a human's wounds."

"Saliva?"

Su Yaoyao glanced at the wound on her leg. 'Saliva? Does he mean... for Bai Lian to lick my wound?!'

Su Yaoyao's face flushed red, and she dared not think about it any further.

Bai Lian remained silent. He had actually thought of this method long ago, but he couldn't just touch the little female's body so casually.

An act as intimate as licking a wound should only be performed by a Beast Husband chosen by the female.

Although he had expressed his desire to be Yaoyao's Beast Husband, it was clear that Yaoyao wasn't mentally prepared to accept him yet.

"I'll just change the dressing every day. That's how I always dealt with it on my home planet. It should be fine in a few days."

Su Yaoyao's soft voice piped up. Bai Lian had already helped her so much, she felt bad for troubling him further. And licking a wound was just... too much...

Hearing this, Bai Lian looked at Su Yaoyao with a pang of pity. Unable to heal quickly every time she was injured, even small wounds took days. Wouldn't a large wound mean months of pain?

Seeing this, Pani didn't insist. He had only offered an effective suggestion.

Pani's gaze fell on the gauze on Su Yaoyao's leg. The blood that had seeped through had dried into a dark, dull color.

He frowned slightly, turning to pick up the antiseptic solution, clean gauze, and new ointment from a nearby tray.

He looked at the little female with a concerned expression and, mimicking how Bai Lian addressed her, said, "Yaoyao, your wound needs to be redressed. Leaving it won't help it heal." As he spoke, he prepared to step forward.

Su Yaoyao opened her mouth slightly, about to nod in response to Pani, when she saw Bai Lian quickly extend an arm to block him. She couldn't help but freeze for a second, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes.

Bai Lian's eyes held an unquestionable resolve, his tone calm yet decisive. "Pani, thank you for your kindness, but I'd like to change Yaoyao's dressing myself."

Pani was taken aback for a moment, a flicker of confusion in his eyes, but he quickly understood. He smiled, nodded, and handed the medical supplies to Bai Lian, teasing, "Alright, it seems you're even more attentive than I am, the doctor."

Su Yaoyao leaned against the side of the bed, watching Bai Lian, a wave of shyness washing over her.

This feeling of being treated so specially left her feeling both flattered and overwhelmed.

Bai Lian took the supplies and walked over to Su Yaoyao. His movements were as gentle as a passing breeze as he carefully helped her sit up, letting her lean against the side of the bed.

Then, he slowly crouched down, half-kneeling on the floor, his gaze fixed intently on the wound on Su Yaoyao's leg.

Bai Lian first used a pair of tweezers to gently grip a corner of the old gauze, slowly peeling it away. Every movement was meticulous, as if he were afraid of hurting Su Yaoyao.

His gaze would occasionally drift to Su Yaoyao's face, watching for any change in her expression. The moment he saw her brow twitch, he would pause and ask softly, "Yaoyao, did I hurt you? Tell me if it hurts, and I'll be gentler."

Su Yaoyao's cheeks flushed slightly as she avoided Bai Lian's overly gentle gaze.

She shook her head lightly, her voice soft and sweet. "I'm fine. You can continue."

But in reality, her heart was racing. Bai Lian's proximity and meticulous care made her feel both nervous and shy.

Only then did Bai Lian resume his task, finally removing the old gauze completely.

He picked up a cotton ball, dipped it in an appropriate amount of antiseptic, and began to carefully clean the skin around the wound with gentle, practiced movements.

After cleaning it, he squeezed out some ointment and spread it evenly over the wound.

The cool, soothing ointment and the touch of Bai Lian's fingertips were impossible for Su Yaoyao to ignore.

Her gaze followed Bai Lian intently. Watching his focused and earnest expression, her heart felt like a calm lake into which a stone had been tossed, sending ripples spreading across the surface.

Bai Lian's every subtle movement, every soft-spoken question, was like a key, slowly unlocking the doors to Su Yaoyao's heart.

She gazed at Bai Lian, the blush on her face never once fading.

'How can this man be so gentle?' she thought to herself. 'A tenderness like this could make a person lose themselves completely, with no way to escape.'

Pani leaned quietly against the wall, silently observing the unspoken feelings brewing between the two.

'Why is everyone falling for Su Yaoyao?' he mused. 'Ever since her arrival, all the males on the base have been gossiping about the little female's beauty every day. Some have even brazenly declared they want to be her Beast Husband. And just today, I heard that Admiral Bai Lian punished Reg by sending him to the brig first thing in the morning for being disrespectful to the little female, just to serve as a warning. Only then did the chatter die down.'

Pani took a bite of a sweet carrot, the juice satisfying his taste buds. 'Could the little female be even tastier than a carrot?'

'To make an SS-level Admiral fall in love at first sight...'

Pani suddenly looked at Su Yaoyao with curiosity. Before, his mind was filled with nothing but medical research, but now, he really wanted to study a human female.

Suddenly, the sound of rushed, frantic footsteps shattered the quiet atmosphere.

A young soldier appeared, his face flushed red and his uniform disheveled, with sweat rolling down his forehead.

He stumbled his way into the medical department, his eyes filled with anxiety and alarm.

"Admiral Bai Lian! Where is Admiral Bai Lian?" the soldier shouted, his voice trembling with extreme nervousness.

Everyone in the medical department turned to look, completely bewildered by the sudden commotion.

Pani hurried forward, trying to stop the reckless soldier. "Don't panic. Calm down. Admiral Bai Lian is changing the little female's dressing. Whatever it is, you can say it slowly."

But the soldier was frantic. Seeing Admiral Bai Lian in the treatment room was like seeing his savior. He lunged forward in a single bound. "Admiral Bai Lian, something terrible has happened!"
