Uriel let out a long breath. "I know. I have been meaning to address it, but there was always something else..." He ran a hand through his hair. "I neglected this place."
"You were busy," Lin Yue said. "You can't be everywhere at once."
He turned to look at her, his gold eyes searching her face. "You are not angry?"
"I was angry.." she admitted. "Earlier. When I saw how bad it was, I wanted to curse you. But then I thought about everything you are dealing with, all of it—and I realized you cannot fix everything. No one can." She reached out and took his hand. "So that's why I'm here. To help with the things you cannot do."
Uriel looked down at their joined hands, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. "The halflings?"
