"Hmm? Is it because your friends are there? The Philippines is not bad except for its politics. But changes are happening at the moment there, i hope it will continue. Also, remember to visit your grandparents" Mom said while reminiscing about that place
"Yeah, i will visit them. Jack always talked about things there and i want to study there" Nyx of course, visited the Philippines in those years that passed. And he was more familiar there than here in America.

Nyx was awoken by the cabin crew.
"After several hours of traveling, I finally landed" he said. Waited for a few minutes before they disembarked the plane and a few more security checks until you can get outside
"Fresh air! Damn, so hot" i forgot the feeling of this temperature. Average 86 degrees Fahrenheit or exceeded 105 degrees Fahrenheit
I waved my hands to call for a taxi. Grab or other car booking is not common yet in the Philippines. The way you do things is when you spot a taxi, you raise your hand and wave to get their attention
A taxi stopped in front of me "Where are you going, sir?"
"BGC manong"
(Manong was what they used to respectfully call a man whom you don't know)
"Oh, you know how to speak Tagalog? Hop in sir. The usual rates were 300-500 pesos, depending on the traffic" the driver said

It takes 30 minutes to arrive at the place. BGC was a place where foreign or rich people live or buy things. It was an advanced place in the Philippines.
"Sir, 380 pesos. No traffic today and we arrived faster" the driver said
I reached into my pocket and gave him a $100
"I don't have peso in me manong. I only have this. You can follow me to the hotel and exchange the money there"
"This is too much sir. 10x more than what you need to pay me" The driver was shocked and kept pushing the money to my side
I keep insisting that he has no choice but to accept it. He keeps thanking Nyx until he doesn't see me anymore
A 3rd world country, the people here only get $10 for working 8 or 10h a day. It's small compared to other countries, but the living expenses here are not that pricey.
Nyx walks around BGC to stretch his body. After a while he chooses a hotel to stay in
"Hello sir, how can i help you"

"Of course sir. What room do you want? We offer a presidential room" the clerk said
"Okay. I'm staying there for a week" i handed her my card and she swiped it. After that, she gave me a card key

I just smiled at her and asked "Do you do money exchange here?"
"We do sir. But it has much lower rates. For 1 USD it will be 49 pesos and you can only exchange for a maximum of $200"
"200 only? That's low. Do you know where any nearby banks are?"
"There is. Just turn left after you leave the building and 100 meters there's a bank office there sir"

"Hello, can i talk to your manager?" i asked
"Wait a minute sir. I will inform him" The teller stood up and left her table

"Good day sir, what can i do for you? Come, let's sit in my office" the manager invited Nyx to his office
"Hello, call me Nyx. I wanted to open a bank account, and once i have one, I'll be transferring money" Nyx said
"You can. Foreigners can open a bank account once they follow all the requirements needed" the manager said
"I'm a dual citizen, so i can open without a problem. The problem for me was how long it took to get an account"
"Usually it will take 3-5 days to get the card" the manager said
"I can pay just make it possible to acquire it as soon as possible" Nyx said. He knows what needs to be done in this situation
In the Philippines, if you need something or want to get it faster, you need to bribe them and they will do the work
"Sure sir. You can get the card in an hour. How much money are you intending to transfer?"
"50 million"
The manager can't help but stare at Nyx for a minute. $20,000 was already a super big sum for them let alone $50 million.
The manager explained to me that if i need to transfer that kind of money, they need to use an international wire transfer and it will take 3-5 days
"Ahhh, why so conflicted" Nyx sighs, he doesn't have any choice at all but to wait
"Actually there's another way sir. Private banking transfer, Very wealthy individuals usually have accounts with private banking divisions of major global banks. With that they can transfer much faster 1 hour or maximum 1 day" the manager said
"Oh? Wait a minute, let me make a call" Nyx said
"Take your time sir" the manager smiled
"Criiiing! Nyx? What's the problem?"
"I'm already here in the Philippines. Say, Dad, do you do private banking transfers?"
"Of course. Why did you ask?"
"Good. I'm here in the bank and wanted to transfer $50 million but it needs some time and i need to use an international wire transfer. But with private banking, it won't take that long"
"Oh okay. Send me your account and I'll transfer the money"
"Okay, wait a few minutes" Nyx ended the call
The manager was secretly listening to what Nyx was talking about. After that, he decided to do something. He was sure that Nyx was a high client
"Sir, let me have a suggestion. I can recommend you for private banking. Don't worry sir, this won't take much longer. Maximum 1 day. I will do anything to finish all that is needed, so that you can use them as you please without restrictions"
"Usually, even if you have billions, there's still a limit on how much you can spend. But with private banking, you can transfer millions in an instant, you just need to call your bank manager."
"Nice. Okay, I'll follow what you said"
"Fill this up sir so i can create your bank account. After that, you can inform your father about the account and can start transferring the money. After receiving, I'll start doing my work for you to acquire the private banking of our bank" the manager said
"I thought it would take an hour?"
"Making the card will. After making it, they will deliver it here. Fortunately, it was near here. As for getting an account, that will take 2 minutes only sir" the manager said
"You're a good manager. Don't worry, i won't forget about you" Nyx said and smiled at the manager
After making the account, Nyx called his father again to transfer the money. After waiting for an hour, he received the money. He chatted with the manager a little and left after assuring him that the manager would call him tomorrow morning.
Nothing to do, Nyx roamed around and when he got bored, he returned to the hotel and just watched a movie all day

The manager said that the private banking was established and if he needs something, he just needs to inform the banker's manager and it will be done

"How rare for you to join us, Jack. Did you inform your mom that you will waste your precious time with your useless friends?" a female voice said

"Hahaha shut up. It's your luck that i grace you with my presence mongrels" Jack laughed and mocked them
"What should we do today? Why don't you treat us, Jack? You are gone for 2 years, studying in the USA" this time a male voice said
"Why would i treat you? I didn't work there. I study there! Hayst, I miss my friends there especially Nyx"
"Who's that? I thought you would be bullied there because your asian"
"Not really. I have a friend there, and he was half Filipino. Super handsome, if you saw him, I'm sure you'd be head over heels"
"Why? You didn't become gay because of that right?" a male friend tried to distance himself
"Ah never mind. Even if you know him, you just lose your confidence to like him." Jack said
"I don't believe you. Anyway, you will study college here right? Or return to the USA?"
"Were not rich enough for me to study there. I'm just good at studying that's why they sent me as an exchange student."
"Maris and I will study in Enduran, how about you, Jack?" Mariel
"I may not have a wealthy family like you guys, but all the universities I applied for scholarships to were approved" Jack proudly said. His group of friends all came from wealthy families, except for him but he was treated with respect and as a family
"Why not study at UST with me? We can help each other there" Bryan said
"As for me, I'll study in FEU, if you choose there, at least i have friends with me there" Prince
"Ateneo is where I'll be going. Come with me, Jack, I'll pay for everything" Alexa with a serious face
"Me and Alexa are in the same university. Why not go there? We need a man to protect us from those predators" Daniella dramatically said as if she was scared
"Join you? Two actresses with me? I'll pass on that. Your fans are crazy" Jack rejects their offers. Before he could talk more, his phone rang, it was an unfamiliar number
"Hello? Who's this?"
"My boy Jack. It's nem Nyx, I'm already in the Philippines, where are you"
"Nyx?! You already here? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"Even my grandparents don't know that I'm here in the Philippines. So where are you? Let's meet and catch up"
"I'm with my friends right now, how about later?"
