Chapter 36 - endgame

The Malhotra Industries headquarters was surrounded by chaos.

Sirens.

Smoke.

Security running everywhere.

Aarav's car stopped sharply outside.

He stepped out first.

Eyes dark.

Focused.

Kiara right beside him.

No fear.

Just determination.

Inside—

The building was half in darkness.

Emergency lights flickering.

Tension everywhere.

"He's inside," Kiara said quietly.

Aarav nodded.

"Stay close."

They moved in together.

Step by step.

Silent.

Alert.

At the top floor—

The doors opened.

And there he was.

Vikram Khanna.

Standing near the glass wall.

Calm.

Like he had already won.

"I was waiting," he said.

Aarav didn't waste time.

"It's over."

Vikram smiled.

"You really believe that?"

He pressed a button.

Suddenly—

Doors locked.

Security shutters dropped.

Trapped.

Kiara's eyes scanned quickly.

"Backup plan," she whispered.

Vikram stepped closer.

"You two are predictable."

A pause.

"You fight. You lose. You come back stronger."

He tilted his head.

"But this time…"

His voice dropped—

"You don't walk out."

Aarav stepped forward.

"You talk too much."

And then—

Everything exploded into motion.

Vikram's men attacked.

Aarav fought back instantly.

Fast.

Precise.

Brutal.

Kiara didn't stay back.

She grabbed a metal rod—

Defended—

Struck—

They fought like a team.

Like they had done this a thousand times.

But Vikram wasn't worried.

He watched.

Waiting.

Then—

He pulled out a gun.

Aimed.

At Kiara.

Time slowed.

Aarav saw it.

Too late.

Gunshot.

Kiara froze.

But nothing happened.

Aarav stood in front of her.

Breathing heavy.

The bullet had grazed his shoulder.

"Aarav—!"

He didn't let her speak.

"I'm fine."

His voice was rough.

But steady.

Something inside Kiara snapped.

She turned.

Eyes burning.

And ran straight at Vikram.

He didn't expect that.

She hit him.

Hard.

The gun fell.

Aarav joined.

Together—

They overpowered him.

Vikram struggled.

But this time—

He was outnumbered.

Outplayed.

Aarav grabbed him by the collar.

Pushed him against the glass.

"It's over," Aarav said.

Low.

Final.

Vikram laughed weakly.

"You think you won?"

Kiara stepped forward.

Cold.

"No."

A pause.

"We ended you."

Police sirens echoed again.

Closer.

Louder.

Vikram's expression changed.

For the first time—

Fear.

Aarav let go.

Police stormed in.

Weapons raised.

"Vikram Khanna, you're under arrest."

He didn't resist.

Because he knew—

This time—

There was no escape.

Silence slowly filled the room.

Kiara turned to Aarav.

His shoulder was bleeding.

"You're hurt," she said softly.

Aarav looked at her.

Half-smile.

"I've had worse."

Kiara shook her head.

Stepping closer.

Her hands gently holding him.

"This is over," she whispered.

Aarav nodded.

Looking at her—

Not the chaos.

Not the war.

Just her.

"Yeah," he said.

And for the first time—

There was no fight left.

No past chasing them.

No enemies waiting.

Just them.

Because finally—

Everything that tried to break them…

Failed.

And love—

For once—

Was stronger than the lie.
