Chapter 75 - Decisive Attack

The clash of the angel of light and the Devil of ice and shadow continued to rage on.

Every strike was more than just steel clashing with steel; it was two primordial elements clashing within a physical domain.

A fight as old as time, light and darkness; they cannot exist without each other, and now they were being formed as weapons to tear a human body apart.

A blade of light slashed at Selen's torso, cutting her; in return, a claw of ice and shadow tore Ezekiel's body apart.

Severing his right arm.

Yet he let go of the sword, grabbed the arm, and reattached it like it was nothing.

Meanwhile, Selen's size had grown with the shadows and ice, making her look more like a demon made of black ice than a human made of flesh and blood. So the cut didn't let any blood seep out; only a chunk of ice fell to the ground and was quickly replaced.

The battle was now only a matter of time before one or the other exhausted their nova and could no longer heal their wounds, bringing the fight back down to that of mortals.

Cut after cut, slash after slash, string after string, shadow after shadow.

The two tore each other apart.

Until the two clashed in the air and sent each other flying back, each landing on a pillar of ice.

Selen reduced herself back to her normal form and looked at the heaving angel, blood dripping from myriad wounds.

Selen was in only slightly better shape; her nova was almost exhausted, and the feelings it was removing were slowly being added back; with them came the memories she didn't want to recall, causing her bright, determined smile to dim and waver a little bit.

The angel looked at Selen and spoke.

"Shall we end this, Ice Saint?!!"

Selen gritted her teeth and then readied herself.

The arena went dark; all of the light disappeared into nothing.

But Selen didn't need the light; she could see in the dark.

She stared at the man, who held the light, as he opened his palm; a flash of light severed the darkness, shooting at her at the speed of light.

Yet Selen didn't waver; she didn't move; she instead called upon the darkness around her.

And ate the light.

As Ezekiel's eyes slowly widened, she moved and cut him, severing his torso and legs.

Selen straightened and dismissed her claw back under her skin.

It took a moment for the lights to return and to reveal the bisected angel and the victorious saint.

"SELEN, THE MOON'S CHOSEN SAINT HAS WON!!!!!!!!"

Selen let out a dry chuckle as the Announcer called out her victory.

With a polite wave and an exaggerated bow, Selen left the arena and made her way back to her seat.

In the stands, Solaris was in awe of the final attacks each of the contenders released.

Ezekiel taking the light, and then Selen eating the light!

Each on its own would've made Solaris's jaw drop to the floor, but together, he was overwhelmed by amazement.

Looking over at Lucian, Solaris asked.

"What did you think of that? You still think shes scary, or do you now think shes just amazing, as I do?"

Solaris looked at him with an I-told-you-so look, yet Lucian looked over with a dumbfounded expression.

"Wh-WHAT! YES SHE'S TERRIFYING!!! In fact, I'm even more scared than before!"

As if Lucian's words weren't enough, Ania added in agreement and disagreement.

"Yes, my litt.. Little icy can be quite terrifying, most certainly, but I mean, look at her shes sooooo cute!!! And don't worry, my blondie, I'll help you sleep tonight."

As Lucian shivered with fear over Selen, he let out a quiet thank you to Ania.

Solaris looked at the two with a confused look on his face.

He wasn't put off by that remark- what? He must really be scared of Selen.

Letting out a slight chuckle, Solaris looked over at Sami, who had a big smile on her face.

Noticing his gaze, she looked over and smiled a little bit brighter.

"Did you hear? They used the nickname I gave her!!!"

Solaris nodded.

"Yes, I heard. I like it much more than her others; personally, I think it fits her."

As soon as Solaris finished his sentence, Selen made her way back to her seat and sat down.

Before Solaris could congratulate her, she turned to him.

And smiled.

"Did you see?"

Seeing Selen smile, Solaris's heart skipped a beat; this was the first time he had ever seen it.

So cute... I need to make her smile more.

Returning the smile, he spoke.

"Yes, it was amazing; I had no idea how incredible you really were."

Selen frowned and looked at Solaris angrily, her face up, and responded.

"How rude, you thought I was useless? Why, because I'm a cute girl?"

Solaris looked at Selen, his heart pounding harder and harder.

So cute!

"NO, I didn't mean it like that, I... I.. I just meant I've never seen you go all out, is all."

The frown slowly broke, and a bright smile let itself back onto her face, yet this time it was slightly blocked by a hint of repression.

As if she was holding something back.

"I'm just kidding, no need to get so worked up."

Selen said as she poked his cheek.

Solaris let the smile back onto his face.

As the announcer called for the next contestants, Selen excused herself, claiming that she needed to wash and change.

There were only a few battles before Solaris fought.

The next few were not going to be as interesting as the previous ones, mostly because Solaris didn't know the contestants personally.

The next one would be between two Extramicy users Solaris had never heard of before. Lucian said one had an ability related to wind, and the other to water.

Although he was curious as to how this fight would go, Solaris opted to also excuse himself, wanting to prepare for his battle with the second-in-command herself, Arias.
