Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: [World-Tuning]

Whether it was proper or improper made no difference to Lynn's good mood.

What people called "power from beyond the world" could, in his case, just as well be called "power from within the world"—

Because it belonged to his world-incarnation.

Before the Will of Teyvat fell back into slumber, it had mentioned in its final message to him that the reason it had given him the Pyro Authority was to help conceal the aura released when Lynn used his own power, and, together with the concealment it had already put in place, further reduce the chances of him being discovered.

Naturally, this so-called "his own power" did not refer to the little strength possessed by Lynn's original body, but to the power of his world-incarnation.

Lynn understood very clearly that this was also, in a way, a warning. A warning for him to take it easy and use his own power sparingly. For minor matters, using this portion of authority to deal with them would be enough. After all, Teyvat's planetary will was only a planetary will, battered and worn down, about to fall asleep, and the concealment it had set up was limited in strength.

If there really came a time when he needed to use his own power, this authority could also add a layer of disguise on the surface. Even if he accidentally broke through the concealment, it could still reduce the chances of the mechanisms governing the universe noticing him and drawing the force of rejection down upon him.

Lynn was the kind of person who listened to good advice. He could tell what was said for his own good.

But just as Teyvat had only told him to take it easy, not never use it, he naturally had to have some sense of proportion himself.

The external environment was hostile, and he was not asking to bring every single thing he controlled to its fullest possible expression. But at the very least, he needed to know how much effect a given amount of power could produce, so that if a real necessity arose, he would not act without measure. Whether he underestimated himself or overestimated himself, neither would be a good thing.

That was how the earlier "magic trick" had come about.

In essence, by relying on the connection between his original body and his incarnation, Lynn used himself as an anchor to draw in the power of that incarnation as a projection, covering the area around the Cargo Ship beneath his feet and replacing the world's original operating laws there with the rules of his own.

In that way, his will naturally became, just as it had when he entered his world-incarnation, the Will of Heaven, ruling over everything within that area and freely modifying and tuning reality.

Repair the ship?

Simple.

He only had to reverse and refresh the state of the ship's matter. As long as he followed basic logic—conservation of mass and the like—he could casually pull some material from elsewhere to fill the gaps.

This was not some kind of telekinesis manipulating things directly. It was a temporary alteration of the rules, making reality such that "this is how it ought to be." The result did not violate logic, and once it was over, when the original rules returned, they would not change it back.

Because the world's operating laws followed fixed principles and ordinarily possessed no subjective initiative, unless they encountered something that did not conform to those rules.

And what Escoffier had sensed in that instant was naturally the internal environment of Lynn's world-incarnation. As the lover of the Will of Heaven, was it not only natural for her to be favored by every element within that world?

Of course, this kind of operation was not something he could use casually.

The place was only so large, and it already had an owner. If he suddenly barged in and seized a piece of it, naturally the existence originally occupying that area would strike back.

Most importantly, that "owner" was not Teyvat's planetary will, but the mundane order established by Phanes. It did not even possess a macro will. It was rigid to the extreme, and naturally would not allow Lynn to do whatever he pleased.

But this was undoubtedly an extremely powerful trump card:

With the world projection descending, and himself becoming the Will of Heaven, so long as he did not do something that violated basic logic, such as creating something from nothing, he could freely establish all rules at will—

Even doing things like creating something from nothing was not completely impossible. It would simply consume origin power, and Lynn obviously could not afford to play that way right now.

But this was enough.

In such a state, the most terrifying method was not energy bombardment, nor calamities descending from the heavens, but rejection, repulsion, denial, and even erasure from the level of rules themselves, beyond matter and energy...

So what if maintaining the world projection consumed a great deal?

What it consumed was not world origin anyway. It was something that could be restored at will.

And the most important point was this: even if he could not hold out for long, his enemy would not be able to hold out either.

Unless the enemy also possessed authority over rules, they would not even qualify to resist such a method.

And Lynn's world-incarnation was still only in its newborn stage. As it grew, its scale would rapidly increase, and the laws governing its operation would continue to improve.

For now, perhaps any random god could withstand the erasure of his world projection head-on, but it would not be long before things became completely different—

I wonder who the lucky one will be, the first to force me to use a method like this...

Escoffier came back, and just as expected, she had failed to find any clues.

However, she had found that Phlogiston bomb without any trouble.

"Here."

She handed the gem-like little object to Lynn, and after taking it, he put it away.

"Are you hungry? I just checked the kitchen. There are quite a few ingredients. If you're hungry, I can make something to eat. After we finish eating, you'll have to help me sail the ship."

After that, Escoffier got down to business.

The ship was fine now, but the people needed to sail it were gone. Fortunately, Escoffier was capable in that regard.

Still, as a chef, what concerned her more was whether Lynn's stomach was empty.

"Sail the ship?"

Lynn, however, suddenly had a flash of inspiration.
