I wasn't planning to come to the party.
Marcus dragged me here after practice, claiming I needed to "stop sulking."
Which was annoying.
But the moment I step inside and see Autumn standing across the room-
Talking to Evan-
My mood shifts instantly.
Marcus notices.
"Oh."
"What?"
"That's why you're here."
"I didn't know she'd be here."
"Sure."
I ignore him and start walking across the room.
Autumn notices me halfway there.
Her eyes widen slightly.
Evan turns too.
His expression immediately hardens.
Great.
Exactly the situation I wanted tonight.
I stop in front of them.
"Hey," I say to Autumn.
"Hi."
Evan folds his arms.
"You follow her everywhere?"
I glance at him.
"No."
"She was here first."
"Then I guess I got lucky."
The tension thickens instantly.
Autumn sighs, loud enough to draw attention. Ever the dramatic one.
"Can we not do this, please?" She asks softly.
Evan looks at her.
"You deserve better than him."
My jaw tightens. Fists starting to clench slightly.
Autumn's eyes flash. She notices this.
"Evan, stop."
But he didn't, he keeps going.
"He's bad news, Autumn. You should know"
That's when I step forward slightly. But enough to make my aura more intimidating.
"Careful," I say quietly.
