This is exactly the situation I wanted to avoid.
Luca and Evan standing two feet apart, glaring at each other like they're just seconds away from punching something. Or each other.
"Both of you stop," I say. Trying not to raise my voice too loud to draw more attention.
Neither of them listens.
Evan scoffs.
"You think you're tough?"
Luca's voice drops.
"I think you talk too much."
People around us start noticing the tension more now. More eyes are on us and I can feel some people shuffling towards us.
A small crowd forms.
Great.
A public fight.
Exactly what every girl dreams of.
"Luca," I warn.
He doesn't take his eyes off Evan. They are a deep blue as if an icy fire has been lit in them. Sharp, crisp color.
"Relax."
"Relax?" Evan snaps. "You already punched someone this week."
My head whips toward Luca.
"You did what?"
Luca mutters something under his breath. I couldn't quite catch it.
"Not helping," I say.
Evan smirks.
"See? Even she didn't know."
The air feels like it might ignite. Just one tiny spark and everything will blow up.
Then Luca steps back slightly.
"Not worth it," he mutters.
The crowd groans in disappointment.
But the moment passes.
