Chapter 15 - The Assembly Of Azure Wind

The Crimson Cloud main hall had never felt so crowded, yet no one dared speak loudly. Twenty banners hung in a semicircle around the chamber, each embroidered with the crest of a recognized regional sect. The air itself felt dense, not from formations, but from the collective weight of Golden Core pressure restrained behind polite expressions.

At the highest platform stood Sect Master Han of Crimson Cloud. To his right, the Grand Elder Han Zhenyu. Behind them, the Supreme Elder remained seated in quiet observation, eyes half-closed, aura deep and unreadable.

Before them stood the leaders of the region.

Moon Pavilion Sect Master Yun Shuxia — elegant, sharp-eyed, Mid Golden Core.Thunder Ridge Sect Master Lei Ba — broad-shouldered, High Golden Core, temper barely concealed.Verdant Mountain Sect Master Gu Liang — calm, calculating.Azure Wind Sect Master Lan Qingyun stood slightly to the side, robes simple, expression steady.

Other sect masters filled the remaining positions — some High mid golden Core, some low, several Peak Foundation Establishment leaders of smaller sects.

The atmosphere was not hostile. But it was not friendly either.

Sect Master Han raised a hand. "The matter at Western Rupture Valley concerns all sects present."

Lei Ba of Thunder Ridge folded his arms. "You call us after losing three Peak Foundation Establishment elders." His voice was not loud. But it carried.

Han did not react. "Losses were sustained in preliminary containment. That is precisely why regional cooperation is required."

Moon Pavilion's Yun Shuxia smiled faintly. "Required… or convenient?"

A ripple of restrained amusement passed through several sect leaders.

Grand Elder Han Zhenyu's eyes hardened slightly. "You question the urgency?"

"I question the transparency," Yun Shuxia replied smoothly.

Verdant Mountain's Gu Liang stepped forward.

"We have heard only that a 'demonic instability' has appeared. No detailed account. No artifact recovered. No relic displayed. And yet we are told to mobilize elites."

Silence followed.

Han's gaze swept the hall. "You are not here for relic division."

"No," Lei Ba said bluntly. "We are here to assess risk."

The Third Elder of Crimson Cloud spoke for the first time.

"The realm is not an inheritance ground. It is a degraded suppression node."

Now attention sharpened.

Lan Qingyun's eyes flickered slightly.

Gu Liang narrowed his gaze. "Suppression of what?" he continued "A demonic remnant."

Murmurs spread not panic but Calculation.

Moon Pavilion's Yun Shuxia tilted her head. "And what level of remnant?"

The hall grew quiet again.

Grand Elder Han Zhenyu answered this time. "Unknown. But stable enough to resist Peak Foundation Establishment anchoring."

That changed the room. Now the weight was real.

Lei Ba frowned. "You attempted to anchor with Foundation level?"

"We assessed outer layer first," Zhenyu replied evenly. "And failed."

"We didn't had enough knowledge."

Yun Shuxia's voice remained smooth. "You lost three elites."

Han stepped forward. "And prevented rupture."

The hall stilled. Lan Qingyun observed silently. No one denied that losing three Peak Foundation Establishment elders was significant. But if the rupture had spread unchecked, far worse could have followed.

Verdant Mountain's Gu Liang spoke again. "If it is a suppression node, why not collapse it entirely?"

"Because collapse is not destruction," Supreme Elder Han Qiming said calmly for the first time.

His voice was soft. But the entire hall went silent.

"If the seal ruptures violently, demonic qi disperses beyond containment. Fragmentation multiplies instability."

Lei Ba's jaw tightened. "So it must be stabilized."

"Yes."

Moon Pavilion's sect master folded her sleeves. "And who bears primary burden?"

That was the real question the suffocating Silence stretched.

Sect Master Han did not answer immediately. Instead, he let the tension sit.

Then he spoke evenly. "The anchoring array requires multiple stable cores to redistribute backlash."

Gu Liang's eyes sharpened. "How many?"

"Minimum three High Golden Core equivalents."

The air thickened. Now eyes shifted subtly across the hall.

Thunder Ridge had two High Golden Cores.Verdant Mountain had one confirmed.Moon Pavilion had one.Crimson Cloud had several.Azure Wind…

Lan Qingyun's aura remained steady at Mid Golden Core.

Yun Shuxia smiled faintly. "And if insufficient High Golden Core anchors are present?"

Supreme Elder Qiming answered calmly. "The realm will choose the most stable core available."

Now the political edge was unmistakable.

Lei Ba's gaze flickered briefly toward Lan Qingyun, then back to Han. " So you purpose a shared expedition and risk ,"

"And shared benefit?" Yun Shuxia added lightly.

Han's expression did not shift. "There is no inheritance."

Moon Pavilion's leader laughed softly. "In every crisis, there is opportunity."

Grand Elder Zhenyu's voice hardened slightly. "This is not a treasure hunt."

Verdant Mountain's Gu Liang folded his hands.

"If we commit High Golden Core anchors, we require assurance."

" Just State it," Han replied.

"Post-stabilization mining rights within controlled perimeter."

Lei Ba added immediately, "And ranking acknowledgment based on contribution."

Now it was clear the Top Five sects were negotiating leverage not survival.

Han's gaze remained composed. "Crimson Cloud will not surrender territorial sovereignty."

"No one requests sovereignty," Yun Shuxia replied smoothly. "Only proportional recognition."

Lan Qingyun finally spoke the hall shifted slightly at his voice.

"If this is a suppression node connected to larger network structures, mining is irrelevant." Eyes turned toward him he continued calmly. "Disturbing structural flow post-stabilization risks reactivation."

Silence followed Gu Liang studied him. "You are confident in that assessment?"

Lan Qingyun met his gaze evenly. "I have encountered degraded seals before."

Several elders exchanged glances. Supreme Elder Qiming's eyes opened slightly. Interesting.

Lei Ba frowned. "You speak as though you understand the structure already."

Lan Qingyun did not smile. "I speak as someone who does not wish to fight the same battle twice." That line landed quietly.

Han observed him carefully.

Moon Pavilion's sect master tilted her head. "Azure Wind will participate?"

"Yes." replied Qingyan

The hall shifted subtly. Not because of Azure Wind's strength, but because of its composure.

Gu Liang's gaze narrowed slightly. "How many will you commit?"

"Appropriate strength."

Thunder Ridge's Lei Ba exhaled sharply. "Enough politics."

He looked at Han. "What is the plan?"

The Third Elder of Crimson Cloud unfurled a projected spiritual map. A glowing image formed midair. A circular altar at center. Outer rings marked unstable.

"Outer perimeter will be secured by Foundation Establishment teams.""Mid-ring suppression by Mid Golden Core units.""Inner anchor by High Golden Core equivalents."

Gu Liang studied the projection. "And who leads coordination?"

Han answered without hesitation. "Crimson Cloud."

Yun Shuxia smiled faintly. "Convenient."

Han met her gaze. "We discovered it. We bear initial blame if rupture occurs. Leadership remains ours."

No one openly challenged that. It was logical. But not comfortable.

Lei Ba nodded slowly. "Very well."

He turned to the hall. "Each sect declares committed force."

One by one, they spoke.

Thunder Ridge — two High Golden Core, three Foundation. Moon Pavilion — one High Golden Core, two Mid Golden Core. Verdant Mountain — one High Golden Core, one Mid Golden Core. Several mid-ranked sects offered Mid Golden Core leaders.

When it came to Azure Wind All eyes shifted subtly.

Lan Qingyun spoke evenly. "One High Golden Core equivalent."

The hall went silent for half a breath Subtle. But significant.

Yun Shuxia's eyes flickered.

Gu Liang's expression did not change but his attention sharpened.

Lei Ba stared openly now. "You advanced."

Lan Qingyun did not confirm nor denied the claim. "I will anchor if required." That was enough.

Han's gaze sharpened almost imperceptibly the atmosphere shifted.

Azure Wind was no longer background now it was variable.

After commitments were recorded, Sect Master Han concluded:

"Three days. Western Rupture Valley.""No independent exploration.""No private claim attempts.""If sabotage is detected, joint retaliation will follow."

As sect masters began to disperse, tension did not dissipate. It condensed.

Whispers began immediately Azure Wind's rise. Crimson Cloud's losses. High Golden Core anchors. Ranking implications.

And beneath it all the quiet awareness that this expedition would change regional balance.

Lan Qingyun exited the hall without haste. Behind him, Supreme Elder Qiming's gaze followed him thoughtfully.

The seal was degrading; the region was unstable.

And in the shifting currents of demonic qi.

New powers were rising.
