The after effects of the night spent out meant that now the other adults in the village were much more overtly hostile torwards Kabel.
The children on the other hand mostly avoided him which Kabel was happy too return. With two expectations Cole and Betta actually took the initiative too talk to him.
"You know the rest of the kids are probably doing somthing more interesting than watching me read in the grass" Kabel said as he looked at Betta and Cole who were laying down In the grass just below him.
Betta smile and responded "True but none of the kids are as interesting as you though" Cole ears perked up and as he shouted "Yea how the hell are you so fast! I'm like the fastest person in the village" Kabel knew the reason why but he had been forbidden to mention the orb and anything related too mages in general by Miranda so he could only smile and say "I'm skinny so I'm fast"
Cole merely squinted his eyes as he could tell that it was a fruitless endeavour. Bettas ever present smile still glowed as she jokingly said "Give up now cole he's got the face of a brick and acts like it" Cole laughed and they started too banter each other.
Kabel couldn't read in peace with all the chatter but even still he didn't quite mind the disruption. He took his eyes off his book and lay down fully watching the world turn and the winds blow the clouds until he fell asleep.
Years passed like that. Miranda would come and teach magic and what he would need if he were too become a mage all while disguising it as common sense. Betta and Cole only got more attached and the three of them a had a weekly game of trying too chase down and find where the hell Kabel was reading now.
As he grew older he grew stronger and taller his freedom gradually expanded too beyond the village infact the trio often visited and spent time in the impression in the ground where the cloud whale once lay. However more often then not Kabel would find somewhere new and strange yet comfortable.
He was laying on top of a tall tree who's leaves by themselves could support his weight which made it feel more comfortable than that plank and rags he had back in Rotunds house that he called a bed.
He sat re-reading a book called "Classifications of species and the symbiotic realshonship with their environment" He put down the book and looked at the sun. Cole and Betta would take awhile too find him here so he held a smug expression while studying. That was until the sun had already passed the midway point and he hadn't even seen a glimpse of them yet.
"Is somthing happing today?" Kabel doubled and triple checked his memory but still found nothing. When more time passed he deicide "Well I've already read this book more than once I'll go back and while im there I'll check up where they are"
He rushed back too the village with speed surpassing an adults run speed let alone a 13 year old like Kabel. When he got close too the village he could hear somthiny like a person talking but incredibly loudly. He ran even faster pushing his body to his limits and as he ran the voice talking only got clearer "I repeat I am a familiar of your lord sir bansworth the second it is highly recommended you leave your homes and flee to the nearest major city due too beasts going wild and highly aggressive I repeat" The voice kept looping and repeating it's message.
Soon he got too the village entrance where everyone was assembled and arguing about what too do. Everyone turned as he arrived sprinting out of the bushes. Rotund spoke up loudly and announced "Since everyone is now here I'll begin the discussion!"
