Reiji sat down in a chair opposite to Lord Fujioka, separating them was his desk.
"There are two tests. The academic and the physical test. The academic test is one test consisting of 30 questions that you have an hour to answer. The questions are related to picking the right option in certain situations and similar things."
In the corner of his desk was a stack of books that he slowly pushed to be in front of Reiji.
"...Motherfu-"
"Ah, ah, ah! You don't get to swear just yet."
Reiji's unprofessional response was cut off by Lord Fujioka who gestured with his index finger, as if scolding a child.
He then opened a drawer and pulled out a big sheet of paper that had some kind of layout on it.
"This is the layout of the headquarters of the royal guards. Your mission will be to infiltrate the office of the head of the royal guards."
"So…why the royal guards?"
Reiji asked.
"Because they are the right hand of the king or queen. That means that by infiltrating them we will know about the awareness or unawareness of the leadership of the kingdom about the monsters."
"...I guess I'll get to studying."
Reiji said as he stood up and picked up everything before stopping to think for a moment.
"Wait, if this is some heavily protected building or whatever, how come its layout fits onto one sheet of paper?"
"Well, I was planning on giving you the other five sheets detailing the layout but I thought it might be too overwhelming for you."
Lord Fujioka answered his question.
"I'll take it all."
Reiji said and after a moment of surprise Lord Fujioka pulled out the other five sheets of paper and placed them on the stack of books Reiji held in his arms along with the first sheet.
Reiji then walked back into his room and placed down everything. He shoved the books as far away from him as possible and focused on the layouts.
"Damnit, I forgot to ask him to make me a new sword…"
Reiji sighed.
The day flew by as he memorized the layout of the building, not even touching the books.
During dinner he requested a new katana and that same night they picked up a new one for him.
The scabbard was red and the katana's handle had a black and red design.
It fit his new ascetic of red and black and Reiji was quite happy with it.
The next day he woke up naked in his bed when the sun streamed in through his window.
He got up and got ready in the bathroom. As he was cleaning his ears with his fingers he remembered that he had to go to that green haired girl's place.
Of course, Reiji didn't remember her name since he always had a problem with remembering them.
He put on his kimono and pants. He then grabbed his survival knife and new katana.
A thought then crossed his mind.
Should I give the knife back to him?
After a moment he decided against it, since Lord Fujioka definitely saw it in his obi and never asked for it.
He walked out of his room, not bothering to lock it.
He made his way to the basement of the green haired girl.
Opening the door, a strong smell of chemicals hit him. He quickly closed the door behind him and made his way down.
She was working on whatever. The basement wasn't fully underground, since there were windows high up, almost touching the ceiling.
These windows were fully open.
"I'm here, miss weird smell."
Reiji announced himself.
After a moment she looked at him.
"It's Kagami Itsuka, mister Kurozuma. Lay down on that table."
Itsuka pointed at a table that even had straps for the wrists, ankles, neck and torso.
After looking at the table for a moment he looked back at her.
"You're not going to torture me, are you?"
He asked.
"The straps won't be necessary."
Reiji took a moment before he took off his katana and placed it on the table. He did the same with his survival knife.
He laid down on the table, looking up at the ceiling.
"...You know, Reiji is just fine. Formalities are dumb since we're both…freaks."
"You're the only freak here."
She said, taking a syringe.
After she found a vein on his forearm, she took a sample of his blood.
Reiji watched her intently, being ready in case he needed to defend himself.
"You're free to go."
She said in her flat tone, much to the surprise of Reiji.
"That's all?"
Reiji sat up, looking at the place where the needle had entered.
A little blood trickled down his forearm before he pressed his palm against it.
Itsuka was about to hand him a towel but Reiji stopped her, saying he didn't need it.
Thanks to his bizarre body the opening had already closed and Reiji wiped the blood away with his hand.
This surprised Itsuka, who grabbed a small knife.
"Now you've got me interested. May I cut you? I'll just make three cuts, each one bigger than the last. I promise the biggest one will be five centimeters in length and shallow in depth."
Reiji looked at her with a surprised expression but he wasn't exactly freaked out.
He took a moment before he offered his other arm, not the one that had the needle in it.
"Make the cuts quick."
Itsuka's eyes lit up and she held his forearm with the hand that wasn't holding the small knife.
With a flick of her wrist she made a small cut, then a slightly bigger one and then the last one.
She quickly took the towel and patted the wound, trying to clean the blood so she got a better look at his regeneration.
And like magic, the cuts closed over the course of one minute.
Itsuka was so invested in this experiment that she didn't even hear how Reiji winced when she created the cuts or when she patted them down.
She stepped back, taking a moment before speaking.
"I'm satisfied. You can go. I'll come up with new experiments soon enough."
Reiji stood up and put his katana on his back and put the knife into his obi.
"See you tomorrow."
Said Reiji before he left the basement, not getting a response from Itsuka.
Closing the door behind him, he walked through the halls to the dining room to eat breakfast.
