A man set the type letter by letter before handing it to another man. The man then smothers the beaters with ink before using them to cover the type in ink also. After doing so he puts a sheet of untouched paper on the bed and wheels it under the press.
He pulls on the rounce which squeezes the platen and presses the letters covered in ink onto the paper. He then wheels it out from under the press and pulls out the paper which now has letters on it.
The letters at the top of the page read: Mysterious attack on the capital has left it in shambles with giant ice spikes as evidence. Are the rumors true? Was this really what some have already
named the ice dragon?
The man then repeated the process, this time the letters read: Come attend the magic show hosted in the city center. Arrive today and on the next two days just before sunset. It shall commence right after sunset.
After repeating the process again the letters read: Solindrath has declared war on the kingdom of Estrava over a long forgotten scandal.
The man took these three papers and walked over to a rope that was strung across the room. He hung the papers on it to dry them before going to print more of them.
These newspapers were currently being printed in print shops in the capital and the cities around it. It wouldn't be long before it would be all around the country.
Is there any evidence to where he might be right now? Yoruha hasn't called in two days.
Lord Fujioka thought to himself over in the city of Vesmarra, sitting behind his desk in his mansion. He then stood up and walked over to where Reiji lived. He tried pushing the door open, but it was locked.
Locked, he never locks his room. There's a chill coming from the gap between the door and the floor.
He went back to his office and put on his winter coat before walking out of the mansion and over to where the balconies to the guest rooms were and sure enough there was one open.
You left with nothing but a bag of food only to return and break into your own room. If you forgot something you would've returned normally.
Lord Fujioka walked back inside and took the universal key to open Reiji's door. The room was just as cold as it was outside. He closed the balcony door and closed the door to the room. He then conducted a search.
The books were there; everything was. Everything except the blueprints for the layout of the headquarters of the royal guard.
I just hope that was your mana signature at Thornwick, you dense idiot.
Currently in the Shalen ocean:
Reiji ran across the main deck to the quarterdeck to meet up with captain Silas Thorne.
He noticed that the creature attacking them was enormous by the life force he sensed below the ship.
"What is happening?!"
Reiji screamed when he got to Silas, who was focusing on wrapping the tentacles in his water. Reiji noticed this and looked around. The tentacles were barely moving, straining against the water that was under Silas command.
This is only pissing it off.
Reiji thought to himself, seeing that the creature was not too happy judging by its life force. Silas then lifted his sword above his head and pointed the tip of the blade down.
"BEGONE!" Silas screamed before stabbing the sword into the helm. The tentacles were pushed out of the ship in an instant. Silas grabbed onto the helm, but Reiji was lifted into the air before he was slammed against the deck from the ship impacting the water.
"Couldn't you have done that a bit smoother?!"
Reiji screamed. Silas turned to him and laughed.
"Now it'll take a slightly stronger gust of wind to blow you away with the muscles you have gained! AHAHAHA!"
"What now? We are currently sinking!"
"No such thing is happening, you madman! I covered the hull, meaning every hole with water. We are floating like any other good ship!"
Reiji sighed in relief.
"Well, it's not over yet!"
Reiji screamed and pointed to the front of the ship where the body of the Kraken emerged. Its mouth was large enough to swallow the entire ship. Its tentacles emerged behind the ship, pushing it closer to its mouth.
Silas instantly responded by using his water the same way to try and stall it.
"This creature is the Kraken and it's frustratingly resilient to water magic!"
Silas Thorne screamed at Reiji. Reiji had a look around before a thought came to his mind.
Cannons…I heard about them when I was little.
Reiji turned to Silas and spoke.
"I might not know what a musket is but if I'm right that's a cannon and cannons use gunpowder which explodes, right?!"
"Yes!"
"So where is it?!"
Reiji screamed before a small wave of water took him down to the main deck. He saw the large hatch he went down earlier open up on its own before the small wave of water took him down through it. It navigated him through the ship before he made it to the gunpowder storage.
The wave spat him out and after getting his head straight he quickly took a barrel and threw it into the wave.
I'm surprised I took him to the right place with all of this chaos.
Silas thought to himself. He could feel every movement in the water he controlled and when Reiji threw a barrel into the wave it meant he was in the right place, since the only barrels there were the ones filled with gunpowder.
Water then spilled through a hole in the hull where the gunpowder storage was. It took all of the barrels along with Reiji. Not caring about the beaten-up ship, Silas smashed the barrels through the decks until they burst out of the main deck.
He then extracted the water that might've soaked the gunpowder and used it to slow the Kraken. They had about a minute or two before they were eaten.
Agh, I thought the little wave would take the barrels up here.
Before Reiji could even take a breath or have another coherent thought, water once again took him and the barrels to the quarterdeck. Finally, he stood up. Silas pulled out a flintlock and gave it to Reiji.
"I'll throw the barrels overboard and you'll fire so the tentacles blow up!"
"I don't know how to shoot this!"
Reiji said to Silas who rolled his eyes and took it back. He grabbed Reiji's kimono and pulled him in front of the helm.
"You steer; I kill."
Said Silas before his water threw a few barrels overboard. Once they were close enough to the tentacles, he let the water he covered them in fall away and he fired, blowing up the barrels along with the tentacles but making another large hole in the ship.
The whole ship turned slightly to the left, since Silas blew up the tentacles that were pulling on the left side of the ship.
"I'll need time to reload!"
Silas screamed.
"And why are you telling me that? What do you want me to do?!"
Because of Throne's loss of focus the water on the Kraken thinned drastically and their one to two minutes of time turned into about 40 seconds.
"I'll need 20 seconds!"
"No point! You and I know that there are tentacles under the ship and it's already thinking about using the ones you just blew off."
Silas looked at Reiji like he was a complete idiot.
"And how do you know that?!"
"Just use your stupid magic to slow it down."
Reiji said. Silas hesitated before he followed Reiji's plan, slowing down the Kraken. This bought them about another minute. Silas then attacked the severed tentacles, making the creature's pull that much weaker.
Reiji calmly walked over to the front of the ship, pulling out his katana and knife. Reiji took a deep breath before he ran towards the monster's mouth, jumping from the ship.
While Reiji flew in the air, Silas stared in mild shock before he grinned and released the Kraken. He used a wave he created to move himself and the barrels of gunpowder forward and launch himself off of the deck. The water also gave him a new, loaded flintlock.
Reiji and Silas entered the Kraken's mouth together. Reiji wielded his katana and knife while Silas had his cutlass.
