"..W-Wake up, please."

A boy shakes a blood soaked figure. His tired, Green eyes widened in horror.

"P-Please, please don't go.. you're all I have.. please."

His voice grows more shrill with each passing second, tears escape his face as he continues shaking the woman. He stops eventually, breath shaky and uneven. His heart beating quickly as if something was inside his chest trying to escape. He grasps at his hoodie, wincing hard as his surroundings begin blurring. The blood soaked figure appearing in his mind as he falls backwards, scooting towards a corner.

"N-No.. No no no.." He sniffles once, tears falling from his face in a continuous stream. That crying turns into full fledged silent sobbing.

His voice barely a whisper, he manages a fragile sounding, "..I can't do this without you."

An hour passes before a noise outside snaps him out of his breakdown. A low, droning noise outside of the home. The door suddenly begins shaking, as if someone, or something is trying to get in. The boy quickly gets up. Standing at only 4,10 he can keep his center of gravity low, staying out of sight.

He creeps through the home, avoiding any creaky floorboards as he reaches his bedroom upstairs. He hides underneath the bed inside.

The door outside breaks down. He covers his mouth, not daring to make a noise.

*Step... step... step.*

All throughout the home, uneven steps move around. Idle groans and noises escape the new figure. The smell is abhorrent, but the boy doesn't dare to react.

Suddenly, another noise is heard. Feasting. He feels sick to his stomach, but he takes the chance to quietly escape from under the bed, mind racing with what he should do.

"What do I do? I-I can't leave mom! Maybe I can.. get rid of it? That- thing out there?" This thought lingers in his head further than he wishes.

"No- I can't do that.. I can't hurt it, they-.. they look human. That's wrong. Maybe I could sneak out the door while it's.. distracted?" His line of thought trails off as the sound of feasting suddenly stops. The demonic groaning grows louder with each passing second, creaky floorboards galore as it's feet stumble towards him. It's as if the husk could smell his fear.

With no other choice, he runs to a window. Using whatever strength he can muster to pry it open. Jumping out with the husk on his trail. Unfortunately he ends up landing on his ankle in a bad way, spraining it.

The boy barely has time to catch his bearings as the figure crawls through the window. It's empty eyes, previously filled with thought and emotion, now filled with a desire for hunger at any cost.

The boy screeches, crawling away on the ground, eyes desperately scanning for anything he could use.

He spots a rock, throwing it at the husk chasing him. His breathing grows unsteady as the rock does nothing, mind running with many different thoughts. None of which are coherent, clouded by pain.

Adrenaline spikes through his system, causing him to get up and limp towards the street. What he sees doesn't give him hope of this ending well.

Bodies riddle the street, torn open, innards spilling out amongst the pavement. Wrecked vehicles from car crashes, burnt buildings, all without a single living soul in sight.

He limps away from the husk chasing him, adrenaline keeping him going through the pain. As the figure slowly gains on him, he begins thinking of the possibility that he may die.

It terrifies him, his breathing grows more unsteady. He stumbles more often, giving the figure chasing him more time to close distance.

Across the street however, a door creaks open. The person on the other end seems to be alive. They call out, "Sebastian? Is that you? Hurry, over here!"

He motions towards the house, running inside before returning with a baseball bat and running to Sebastian with the figure hot on his trail.

He arrives, smacking the figure over the head with the bat once, causing it to lose balance, falling to the ground. He walks over, bashing the husks head in with his bat.

Blood splatters everywhere alongside the brains of the husk. Sebastian had paused at the door, watching the display horrified. His voice rings out once it's over, the loudest Sebastian has been.

"..U-UNCLE MARK?!"
