Kai and the student walked back toward the southern gate through the side streets.
He kept his body pressed to the shadows and avoided the main thoroughfares at all costs.
It had been about an hour or so since he infiltrated Lis Angla Academy—and the distant hum of voices from the main building could already be heard and it was growing louder. A swelling tide of noise that signaled the end of classes.
Soon, the streets would be flooded with students.
At that point, keeping the Nigh-phantom Imprint active would be impossible.
Kai needed to be long gone before that happened.
"Earlier… the way Katrina rushed away was strange," the student murmured as they walked. "I knew she had that necklace, but I didn't know it could blink like that. I'd say there was a big chance Spissos figured out you've infiltrated the academy. Did you cover your tracks well?"
