Boom!
Amid the thunder of artillery fire, a figure burst out of the flames. With a round shield bearing a five-pointed star raised high, Steve charged forward without hesitation. The moment he emerged, he slammed the shield into a stunned German soldier.
The impact was brutal. The soldier collapsed instantly, unconscious before he even hit the ground.
Steve didn't stop.
He brought the shield up again, bullets striking its surface in rapid succession. Sparks flew as he sprinted sideways, closing the distance to another enemy. With a powerful kick, he sent the man crashing to the ground.
Gripping the shield tightly, Steve turned toward a line of German soldiers who had already raised their weapons. Their muzzles flashed as they aimed at him, but he moved first.
With a sharp motion, he hurled the shield.
The spinning disc tore through the air with terrifying speed. A loud crash echoed as it slammed into the soldiers, knocking three of them backward in an instant. Then, almost impossibly, the shield rebounded.
It snapped back into Steve's grasp as if guided by instinct, immediately rising again to block incoming fire.
The seamless transition between offense and defense left the surrounding German soldiers stunned. For a moment, their coordination faltered.
That was all it took.
As Steve surged forward again, a wave of American soldiers burst out of the jungle behind him. Armed with submachine guns, they advanced rapidly, using Steve's presence to draw enemy fire away from themselves.
The advantage was immediate.
With Steve at the front absorbing the brunt of the attack, casualties among the American forces remained minimal. Meanwhile, the German soldiers found themselves overwhelmed, their positions collapsing under relentless pressure.
One defensive line after another fell.
When the battle ended, Steve stood at the front of the formation, his body covered in soot and traces of gunpowder. Without saying a word, he led the soldiers back toward the American camp.
As they approached, the soldiers stationed at the defensive line stared in silence.
The sight of him—broad-shouldered, unyielding, walking out of battle with victory behind him—left a deep impression on everyone present.
In that moment, they all realized the same thing.
A new American hero had been born.
Applause erupted.
"Clap! Clap! Clap!"
The sound grew louder as Steve entered the camp. Officers, soldiers, and even congressmen gathered to welcome him back. Their expressions carried admiration that hadn't existed before.
Steve looked at them, a faint smile appearing on his face.
After being formally promoted to the rank of Major, Chester personally stepped forward and awarded him the title of "American Hero."
Holding the badge in his hand, Steve's expression turned complicated.
For a brief moment, his mind drifted. He thought he saw Locke again, standing somewhere in the distance, watching him with a calm, approving gaze.
"Steve, we have a new mission for you," a congressman said, interrupting his thoughts.
Steve looked up. "What is it?"
"Hydra is secretly transporting super weapons," the man explained. "Our spies barely survived to get us their route. We need you to intercept and destroy their operation."
Steve glanced at Chester.
Chester nodded. "To support you, we've assembled a team."
At his signal, a group of soldiers stepped forward.
Steve's eyes widened slightly when he saw Bucky standing at the front.
Without hesitation, he stepped forward and pulled him into a tight embrace.
It had been more than half a month since they last saw each other. Neither of them had expected to reunite like this, on the same battlefield once again.
Behind Bucky stood the soldiers Steve had rescued before. One by one, Steve greeted them, exchanging firm high-fives that carried more meaning than words.
"Alright," Chester said. "Prepare yourselves. The operation begins immediately."
"Yes, sir!"
The response came in unison, filled with excitement and determination.
Buzz—
In the middle of a snow-covered expanse, a high-speed train cut through the cold wind, racing along an elevated track spanning a deep canyon.
From above, figures dropped out of the sky.
Steve and his team landed on top of the moving train, their boots hitting metal with controlled force. Without wasting time, Steve moved to the side of the carriage and gripped the door.
With raw strength, he tore it open.
Inside, German soldiers reacted instantly, scrambling to draw their weapons. But Steve was already in motion.
Two punches, clean and precise.
Two soldiers dropped.
The American troops poured in behind him, flooding into the carriage through the opening he created. Gunfire erupted immediately, echoing through the confined space as battles broke out in each section of the train.
Steve and Bucky moved together, advancing from one car to the next.
Everything was going smoothly—until it wasn't.
A strange mechanical hum echoed from the carriage ahead.
Steve slowed, his instincts flaring. As he stepped forward, his eyes locked onto a figure clad in armor-like equipment, holding a weapon unlike anything they had seen before.
He raised his shield just in time.
A burst of blue energy slammed into it.
The force sent him flying backward, his body crashing hard against the interior of the train.
"Steve!" Bucky shouted, moving to return fire.
But before he could act, another blast erupted.
The brilliant blue energy tore through the obstacle in front of him, ripping open the structure itself. The explosion rocked the entire train, metal twisting and tearing apart under the force.
The shockwave hit Bucky directly.
He was thrown backward, his body slamming into the broken doorway. For a brief moment, he was disoriented—just long enough.
The powerful wind rushing through the shattered train car did the rest.
Bucky was ripped out into the open air.
"Bucky!"
Steve's eyes turned bloodshot as everything unfolded in an instant.
There was no time to think.
He forced himself forward, raising the shield again as another blast came his way. Ignoring the pain, he closed the distance and drove a heavy punch into the armored soldier's head.
The man collapsed instantly.
The threat was neutralized.
But Steve wasn't looking at him anymore.
He rushed to the broken doorway, his heart pounding as he looked out.
For a split second, relief washed over him.
Bucky was still there, clinging to a metal handle with both hands, his body suspended over the abyss.
"Hold on!" Steve reached out, grabbing him and pulling with all his strength.
For a moment, it worked.
Then Bucky smiled.
A faint, exhausted smile.
His strength gave out.
His fingers slipped.
"Bucky!"
The world seemed to stop as Steve watched him fall.
Down into the endless canyon below.
The shift from hope to despair was too fast, too cruel. Steve stood frozen, unable to process what had just happened. He had forgotten—forgotten that Bucky wasn't like him, that he didn't have the same strength, the same endurance.
All he could do now was watch.
Grief surged through him, sharp and suffocating. Anger followed immediately after, directed at everything—at the enemy, at the situation, at himself.
Clenching his jaw, he turned back.
With a furious kick, he smashed open the door to the next carriage.
The battle resumed with a vengeance.
Steel twisted and collided as Steve tore through everything in his path. The sounds of destruction echoed as he pushed forward, unstoppable in his rage.
At the front of the train, he found his target.
Dr. Zola.
The man stood there in a suit, his face pale with fear. Before he could react, Steve grabbed him and slammed him to the ground.
Moments later, the rest of the American soldiers arrived. One of them quickly took control of the train, stabilizing its course.
The mission was complete.
Escorted under heavy guard, Dr. Zola was transported back to the United States and handed over to Chester and the others.
"Long live Hydra!" Zola shouted angrily, his voice filled with defiance despite his capture. "We will rule the entire world!"
Under interrogation—threats, pressure, and relentless questioning—his resistance crumbled.
In the end, he revealed everything.
The Red Skull's true plan.
To use the power of the Cosmic Cube… to destroy the world.
