The crowd remained silent after the wolf was dragged away.
Aire watched the man disappear into the sea of soldiers.
The hatred remained, but nobody spoke, or moved again.
Xanden opened the carriage door again. "That's it." He insisted.
Aire looked at him. She shook her head at whatever he had to say.
"You're going back to the castle." He insisted.
"No."
His jaw tightened.
Aire crossed her arms. "Don't make it seem me say this repeatedly." She told him. "I'm staying going."
Xanden stared at her.
For several seconds neither moved.
The surrounding soldiers slowly began pretending they were not watching. Unfortunately, everyone was watching.
Nate rubbed a hand across his jaw.
Xanden pointed directly at the carriage. "You have seen enough." He pressed, clearly not backing down.
Aire glanced toward the villagers. She stared at the people being forced from homes they might never see again.
