Chapter 84 - Chapter 84

Samuel could see directly from the readings that the energy levels inside the test subject were rising at an incredible rate.

They were even stronger than the energy indices he had seen before in some second-stage Extremis-enhanced subjects.

It was enough to leave anyone stunned.

Then, under the reinforcement of that energy, the man's bones also began continuously growing thicker and longer.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

But if even that was not enough to shock everyone, then what truly left the room speechless was that the test subject's heart had actually begun beating again.

And this time, the sound of that heartbeat was so loud that every single person in the already massive room could hear it clearly.

It was like some giant steel furnace, roaring like a war drum as the energy inside it kept increasing.

By the end, the sound had become so overwhelming that people had to put in earplugs just to keep working normally.

But that transformation did not last very long.

After only an hour, as the bright glow around the man's body gradually faded, the thunderous heartbeat also died away.

And at that moment, as everyone looked toward the chamber...

The only way anyone could still barely tell that the being inside had once been a death-row inmate was from the serial number assigned to it at the beginning.

Now, calling him a man no longer felt accurate.

It would be more fitting to call it an it.

Its height had already surpassed four meters, reaching around four and a half meters. The enlarged culture chamber that had seemed so massive before now looked strangely cramped around the Tyrant's body.

Ross, standing in the observation room, had no doubt that if the chamber had been built even larger, the thing might well have reached seven or eight meters tall.

Its muscles were stretched tight across its whole body. Even from a distance, one could imagine the terrifying strength contained within it. If an ordinary person were struck even lightly, they would probably be smashed apart on the spot.

But compared with the earlier biological Tyrants, the Tyrant in front of Ross now looked like a true super soldier.

Aside from the height, it looked almost identical to a human. Its skin was gray-white from head to toe, and there was not a single extra scar anywhere on its body.

Unlike the earlier biological Tyrants, whose entire bodies had been covered in grotesque wounds like giant centipede scars.

As his gaze shifted, the other two Tyrants appeared far more normal by comparison.

After undergoing viral modification, the refined-looking man on the far left had only grown to around eight foot eight or eight foot ten, just barely reaching the waist of the central Tyrant.

However, his brainwaves appeared unusually active, to the point that the researchers had specifically pointed it out.

As for the female Tyrant at the far side, she had changed almost not at all.

Her height had gone from around five foot seven to about six foot seven, which, compared with the other Tyrants, was practically negligible.

But the strange thing was that her hair had remained intact.

And unlike Subject No. 1, whose limbs had thickened to the size of a human head, her arms and legs remained unusually long and slender, perfectly amplifying feminine proportions.

Meanwhile, her glossy black nails gleamed with a cold light.

Just from looking at them, Ross was willing to bet their hardness was no less than that of the earlier biological Tyrants.

"Doctor, the target's life signs and energy reactions have all stabilized."

"Doctor, blood analysis confirms that the fusion rate between the subject's cells, the T-Virus, and Extremis has reached fifty percent. Testing also shows that a large number of cells have entered a dormant state. The condition is extremely good."

"Doctor, the fusion response in the other two subjects is completely normal. All indicators are normal as well. Only Subject No. 2 is showing unusually large brainwave fluctuations."

...

At that moment, after the professional tests were completed, one researcher after another began reporting the compiled data to Samuel.

"Mr. Killian, all I can say is... that's just like you."

"I never expected the very first trial to go this perfectly. Pioneer Technology really is extraordinary. I'm already starting to look forward to seeing how these things perform on the battlefield."

At this point, after hearing the repeated word normal in all the researchers' reports, Ross could not help grinning as he spoke to Killian.

The earlier biological Tyrants had already been enough to wipe out terrorist groups.

If these experimental humanoid Tyrants were added to the battlefield later, Ross genuinely could not imagine how the army under his command could ever lose.

After all, for the current U.S. military, the weakest point had always been infantry combat.

Because their manpower was limited, and every elite soldier required an extremely expensive investment to train.

In some situations, they would rather pay a huge cost in bombardment than let a single elite soldier die, and that was exactly the reason.

To them, artillery saturation was the cheapest thing they had.

The military never lacked firepower, and what they trusted most was also firepower.

If it came down to a straight contest of firepower, they feared no organization on earth.

In fact, if things escalated far enough, it would not be impossible for them to unleash nonstop bombardment using thousands of aircraft from multiple fleets.

But when it came to infantry warfare, that was their nightmare, especially in the early phases of ground combat.

And because of that, they had kept pouring money into the development of super soldiers.

Now, the problem that had troubled them for years was finally about to be solved.

"Hahaha, this is all thanks to talented people like these."

"Dr. Samuel is the truly extraordinary one."

"But since General Ross is so impatient, then how about we take a look next at how practical they really are?"

After hearing Ross's praise, Killian laughed and modestly pushed the credit away, then abruptly changed the subject.

"Oh? If that's the case, then I'd camp out on the floor here if I had to, just to wait for it."

There was no question that Killian's proposal had hit Ross right where it counted. He accepted it immediately without even the slightest attempt at polite refusal.

"I'm sure you won't be disappointed, General."

"Dr. Samuel, if everything is normal, begin the next phase immediately."

After speaking with Ross, Killian turned to the microphone in front of him and addressed Samuel inside the lab.

Hearing Killian's order, Samuel immediately nodded, then began instructing the assistants around him.

At once, the assistant started operating the control systems.

They lowered the dosage of the sedative that was still being continuously pumped into the subject, then injected a neutralizing compound to ensure that when the test subject woke up, its first instinct would not be to burst out in rage and kill everyone in the room.
