A Pokémon invasion is no small matter. Wild Pokémon attacks, when organized on a large scale, carry extreme risks. Ash immediately shifted into a state of high alert—not just because of the gravity of the situation, but because almost everyone he cared about was currently gathered in this city.
"Chu! Chu!"
The wounded Horsea chirped weakly, trying to convey the urgency. Seeing its pain, Ash spoke gently, "Horsea, let's get you treated first. I understand what you're trying to say. Thank you for the warning. As a reward, let us take care of those wounds. Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip to bring Horsea up safely!"
Ash released Bulbasaur, who skillfully extended its vines to lift the little Pokémon from the water. After performing basic emergency first aid, Ash handed Horsea to Misty.
"Misty, you were the one who spotted him. Please look after him for now..."
BOOM!
A sudden explosion rocked the harbor. Ash turned to see a ship engulfed in smoke and sighed. "Well, looks like the rescue operation starts now..."
With the group working in perfect harmony, the people who had fallen into the sea were quickly pulled to safety.
"Please... notify the Chairwoman... ah..." One of the sailors gasped before losing consciousness.
Ash didn't waste time. He pulled out his phone. "Hello? I have casualties at the pier. Send an ambulance and a medical team to Porta Vista Hospital immediately." He then turned to Professor Oak and Gary. "Grandpa, Gary, I'm leaving the survivors in your hands. My people will be here shortly. I suspect this whole mess is linked to the Chairwoman they mentioned."
Gary nodded, his expression uncharacteristically serious. "Leave it to us. Go find out what's going on."
"Be careful, Ash," Delia added, her voice full of concern.
Ash led Elesa, Daisy, Cynthia, Misty, Yellow, Giselle, and Brock toward the construction site. When they finally met the Chairwoman, they were hit with a wave of recognition.
"Wait, weren't you back in Porta Vista?" Ash asked, staring at the old woman.
"How dare you! Don't bunch me in with that eccentric woman! I am her cousin!"
This was Nastina, the cousin of the Gold Grandma they had encountered earlier. After huffing and puffing, she continued, "I appreciate you saving my crew! But since you're clearly capable trainers, I'll pay you 30,000 PokéDollars to exterminate those Tentacool!"
To Nastina, 30,000 was a fortune. She had no idea she was talking to the owner of the Continental Hotel, a man who gave out 30,000 as a casual tip to his bellhops.
Nastina explained her grand plan: building a massive underwater coral honeymoon suite to lure tourists away from the Continental Hotel. The Tentacool were simply in her way.
"Not interested," Ash said, turning his back on her. "You're destroying a natural habitat and then complaining when the locals fight back? You brought this on yourself. We have more important things to do. Let's go."
"Bye-by!" Elesa added with a sharp smirk. "Try not to work your boytoys too hard!"
"Unchecked development leads to a backlash you can't even imagine," Daisy said coldly. "I hope you enjoy the consequences."
Cynthia gave Nastina a piercing look. "It's because of people like you that humans and Pokémon are constantly in conflict. Reflect on that."
The girls followed Ash out, each leaving Nastina with a scathing remark. Even Brock remained a gentleman to the end: "My apologies, madam, but my Pokémon are Rock-types. Water is... a bit of a dealbreaker."
Once they were clear of the construction site, Ash's tone became clinical. "We're heading straight to the Continental Hotel. It's fortified and safe. If the Tentacool and Tentacruel are launching a full-scale assault, their numbers will be in the thousands. I need to prepare the defense systems... though I'm still hoping for a negotiation."
"Preparation?" Cynthia asked. "Usually, a wild Pokémon invasion of this scale requires the regional military or League task forces."
"Don't worry," Ash replied with a confident glint in his eyes. "I didn't earn the title of 'Pallet Town's Big Boss' by just playing nice. Let's move!"
While Ash moved to secure his hotel, Nastina went to the town square and announced a 1 Million PokéDollars bounty. Just as Ash had used his wealth to hire Hunter J, Nastina used hers to lure in desperate trainers. Naturally, Team Rocket—flaunting their latest machine—was the first to accept the contract.
