"You were back early. I guess it's the storm," Lisa said as she lay on Ray's bare chest.
"We actually finished the mission." She kissed his chest and rubbed. Then she stared into his blue eyes. "Really? How were the newbies' performance?"
"Well, Tars did very well. She fought a rank two rattlesnake on her own. Then she and Pan supported Jon in killing a rank three six-armed Capuchin." Ray stared at her white messy hair. He pulled her closer and gave her kisses on her neck.
Lisa drove her fingers into his hair and gasped. "A Capuchin? I guess you let them face it on their own."
"They were hit really bad after the fight, but it's necessary for evolution." Ray licked across her neck. He held her, then sat up on the mattress. He pulled her down as he relaxed his back against the bed stand. "I and Joycelyn faced a Tier One Hummer Bear together."
"What? A Tier One? Oh Ray, are you okay?" She spread her arms across his body.
"I'm fine." Ray took her hand and kissed it. "It was a brutal battle. Killing it required me to use about half my strength, and I feel I have reached the bottleneck."
He let go of her hand and smoothed her hair.
"So, are you going to get the last dose?" Lisa asked.
Ray felt her tremble in his embrace. He kissed her back. "Silly girl. I will delay the dose by some months. I want to guide the young ones a bit before I leave."
Sobbing sounds intensified. Ray sighed and stared at the window.
"Lisa, you know I have to leave this valley. I need to know the truth why we are here. You are a second stage evolver now. If I leave in six months, by then you would be a third stage evolver. You will also have your last dose six months after me."
He pulled her away from his chest and wiped her teary eyes with his hand.
"You need to know. I will go, and whatever is out there, I'll fight it head on before you come around. We know very little of the outside world. I still do not remember anything after thirteen."
Lisa held his hand. "I know. I'm just being silly. Six months waiting behind... I don't want to hold you back."
She kissed his arm. "I have been working on trying to find out why none of us recall our memories, except the camp. Mary's arrival is really helping me." She let go of his hand and sat well on him. "I will fill you in when we make some conclusions."
Ray pulled her onto his chest and wrapped his arms around her. "So, Lucas. Why did you let him go all out like that?"
"I got the mission with Mary to rescue them. We arrived to see him in a battle with a rank three thunder echo elder bat, but we did not engage. He needed that battle to evolve." Lisa said, "I could have shot it, made killing it easier, but at his level I know only real life and death battles can cause evolution, right?"
"Yes. How do you assess Loki and Ken?"
"Ken shot both Lucas and Loki while under the bat's influence. However, he showed strong willpower to prevent himself from shooting Loki. He tried to kill himself. Mary stopped him in time."
"I see. What of Loki? He has a bandage on his eyes."
"I think Loki awakened a bloodline attribute after a mental breakdown. I honestly don't know what's going on with him."
"Alright. It's been a month since they arrived. I believe they will be getting independent missions very soon. But Loki needs some time with me."
Wild wind blew into the room. The candle lights blew off. Darkness filled the room.
Ray traced his fingers across Lisa's face. "I now understand why you risked so much trying to save that clown."
Lisa bit his finger. "No, it's not because I feel guilty. Even if I did not heal him, he would have recovered. Healing him allows me to also push my bloodline to its limit. It's a win-win."
"You never disappoint me." Ray gave her a soft spank on her thigh. She yelped. He kissed her neck. "How about I help you recover faster?"
Lisa looked up at him, "I hate using you to recover," she whispered.
"With you I have more than enough breath to share"
She wiped her legs across his thigh. She felt his hand hold her under the sheets. She licked her lips, then kissed across his chest. He smoothed her hair as she licked and bit his nipple.
Ray lifted her toward himself and kissed her. He turned them over, his fingers driving into her hair as he kissed and explored her. She gasped beneath him, pulling her lips away to take deep breaths.
He held her face. "You alright?"
Lisa threw her arms around his neck. "Yes. I'm sorry... am I a burden?"
He kissed her forehead. "Never."
His hands slid beneath her. He ripped away what remained of her underwear.
"Lisa," he breathed against her throat.
She pulled him closer, her legs parting. His weight pressed her into the mattress. When he entered her, she bit her lip and arched into him, nails raking his back. Her eyes gave a tint of green. She felt her strength returning. She bit harder and dug her nails into him.
The room filled with soft sounds: her breath catching, his low groan, the quiet creak of the bed.
Afterward, she curled into his chest, her green eyes fading back to blue. He kissed her hair and held her until her breathing slowed. The storm outside had softened to a gentle rain.
Loki stared at the ceiling as he lay on his bed. The events of today were just too much for him. His eyes were still bandaged, yet he could see clearly. He touched the thick white fabric wrapped around his head.
How can I even see so clearly with this on?
His watch beeped. He sat up and placed his finger on it. A screen displayed before him.
Personal Mission: Hit and Run
Scrolling down, he saw Accomplishment: Killed 10 rank one thunder bats.
Just ten? he thought as he scrolled further.
Saved Companion's Life (Hint: Ken...)
Why was Ken's last name blurred out? And how did I save Ken's life?
As he thought about it, a hologram screen popped up in front of him from his watch.
Play hint? Yes / No
"Wow, did not know it could do this." He pressed Yes.
On the screen, Ken placed the pistol to his head, aiming to shoot. Loki saw his own eyes bleeding and turning blue. Fully blue this time, as he knelt down. For a split second, Ken took a step back and the pistol pointed upward as it fired. Mary ran in from behind, grabbed the pistol, and tackled Ken to the floor.
The video stopped.
This all happened so fast. He recalled Ken nodding at him as they returned to the base. When Loki confronted him about shooting Lucas and him, Ken immediately apologized and thanked him for saving him. Loki didn't understand. He thought Ken was just doing that to avoid guilt, which led to them arguing.
Another pop up appeared on the screen.
