Kade's brain stopped working for three seconds.
It was the one of the most bizarre, out-of-character moment Kade had ever witnessed in his entire military career since the General started having affection for Camilla.
Kade quickly swallowed hard. He did not want to ruin the General's rare, happy mood. He did not want to point out how strange the situation was.
Kade forced a polite, agreeable smile onto his own face. He nodded his head slowly, looking at the tiny painted cat in the locket.
"He is, my lord," Kade agreed softly, his voice was respectful. "The artist captured his white paws perfectly."
Hearing Kade's respectful agreement, Damon's brain suddenly snapped back to reality.
The warm, soft fog of romance instantly vanished from his mind. He realized exactly where he was.
