But Kade did not turn around to leave. He stayed exactly where he was.
Damon noticed that his aide was still standing there. He slowly raised his brow. He looked at Kade, waiting for him to move.
Kade cleared his throat very softly to break the heavy silence.
Ahem.
"Another report, my lord," Kade spoke. His voice was no longer sharp and urgent like it was when he talked about the spies. His tone was much softer, slower, and slightly hesitant.
Damon frowned slightly. His eyebrows pulled together. He felt a small spark of exhaustion. He had already dealt with poisoned grain, sick soldiers, a dead spy, and a hidden mastermind all in one single day. He wondered what other terrible disaster had happened in the camp.
"Another one?" Damon asked. His voice carried a tired, heavy edge. He crossed his strong arms over his coat.
Kade quickly nodded his head. He saw the tired look on the General's face and wanted to assure him that this report was not a military threat.
