Energy was high in the air, and it was following Rudy and Leah Greyrat, the twins, or as the local bullies like to call them, the Damn Rats. Good and bad, the Greyrat children had a reputation in Buena Village almost equal to that of Paul Greyrat himself. Rudy was known as the wild one, and Leah as the sensible one– both of them were considered very polite.

Leah was following Rudy with one goal on her mind. She was going to meet Sylphy… or rather, Sylph. The real one, not some anime version or abstraction on a page, but a real living person with real emotions, impressions, opinions, and everything else that came with it. Sylphie was always her favorite, and masking her anticipation was the hardest thing she had ever tried to do in her entire life.

"Come on now! Sylph isn't all that scary! I promise!" Rudy tried reassuring her with a grin.

"I know that! I'm not scared, I'm just tired!"

"Yeah right. You were full of energy right up until we got to the halfway point!"

"Let's just get over there already!"

It took them a few more minutes, but soon they were at the tree on top on the hill Rudy told Leah about. No one was there, but under the shade it was cooler than out in the sun. The intense heat of the summer had already broken, but the remnants were still there lasting as long as they could before the autumn cold seized it.

"See? I told you there was a chance he wouldn't be here! It's just the facts I'm afraid."

"Well then why don't we go to his house then? Didn't you tell me that you already know where it is?"

"I mean we could, but I'd rather just wait a bit. If he shows up, then boom! We don't have to walk any further, but if not, well I guess it can't be helped then. It really doesn't make sense to come all this way just to turn back."

Leah folded her arms and scowled, but as they waited a few minutes… say 40 of them, Rudy's bet paid out, and Sylph caught sight of them from a distance. The moment Sylph caught sight of Rudy, they took off running towards him, unfamiliar faces or not.

Leah dropped to her knees at the sight of Sylph– no, Sylphiette. The anime, it seemed… had not done him… er… her… justice at all in the slightest! The closer he got, the more her heart went Doki Doki. She felt like maybe this was what a heart attack felt like.

"Whoa! Are you okay sis?!" Rudy asked rushing down to her level. Leah started stuttering aggressively.

It took awhile to calm down Leah, and Sylph, for their part, felt really bad when they found out it was because of them. It was a long awkward exchange, and not at all, the perfect meeting Leah would have liked. The more Leah tried to push her nervousness back, the more it slipped out, and the more it slipped out, the more nervous it made Sylph.

Rudy couldn't help but enjoy the pure comedy act in front of himself. He couldn't have imagined the kind of awkward comedy shows he used to love could play out right in front of him. It almost felt like an elaborate skit. Being the sort of 'kind' soul he was, he knew that the two of them could only handle so much of this before some irreparable damage was done.

"Well it looks like you've met each other. It looks like you're both having a hard time looking each other in the eye as well."

 "I'm sorry Rudy! It's just… he's so cute!"

"Heh… I mean… you don't have to just blurt it out! There are some things better left unsaid!" Ruby snarked.

 Sylph slouched.

"I'm sorry I make you so nervous. I've never really had anyone act this way around me. Most people are afraid of me… or hate me."

"I don't hate you at all!"

"I know. It's kind of nice to have it the other way around for once. For all it's worth… I think you're cute too Leah!"

Leah froze. Sylph couldn't have said anything more damaging to her psyche. Rudy saw the signs and rushed in with some swift damage control.

"Okay! Looks like we're out of time for today folks! We'll continue this act tomorrow though alright?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Sylph asked.

Leah heard the nuance and it was somehow just the thing to cut through her near death experience. In other words, her heart slowed down, and her brain started processing again. Rudy shook his head and raised his shoulders.

"I'm saying that mom's going to want us home before dinner, that's all."

"Oh. That makes more sense." Sylph said in response.

Leah took a longing look at Sylph then sighed.

"Alright. I guess he has a point. It was nice meeting you Sylph. I hope we can be good friends!"

 "Me too!"

"Come on now dear sister. Our dear mother needs us to start moving our legs." Rudy said, pulling Leah along. Sylph waved goodbye.

Within moments, they were walking home, kicking dust up under their feet, both of them wearing their boots. These boots weren't the stiff kind that both of them remember being stiff in their old lives, these were made for walking and wear. They were flexible and somehow very hardy, they were tough on the outside and somehow soft on the inside.

About halfway back to home Rudy gave Leah a look.

"So… you wanna tell me what that was all about back there?"

Leah's face went red and she grimaced.

"Please just be quiet. No. I don't want to talk about that."

Rudy went into his not my business mode.

*******

For the last two days, Zenith wasn't herself. She was quiet, jittery and absent-minded. Paul figured she was just on her period, but Lilia knew better. It was too soon since her last period, and Paul was too dumb to keep track of Zenith's menstrual cycle, but Lilia wasn't. Lilia had been with them long enough to know the ins and outs of the household even better than Zenith and Paul themselves.

Lilia didn't just do her job as a maid, she made sure she excelled at it keeping an extensive diary of notes in her room. Her days in training hall taught her to do as much, especially when you don't have as much natural talent as your peers. Since she wasn't good for much else given her injury, being a maid was all she had left and so she was determined to make it count.

But Lilia wasn't just good at household duties, Zenith had come to learn over the years that she was also quite capable of giving good advice. It's how she managed to navigate motherhood, it's how she learned how to balance her chores, hobbies, and motherly duties, and it's how she figured out how to bring out Paul's best qualities. Needless to say, Lilia was just the person she needed, just the person she could go to for advice.

She waited for nightfall, for the kids to be in bed, and then she visited Lilia's room with a careful approach. Lilia's face showed surprise when Zenith visited her in the middle of the night, but the she smiled.

"What brings you here tonight my lady?"

Zenith walked up closer, her face showing more fear and anxiety as she got closer.

"Um… Lilia… I've… er… I need to talk to you about something. Something I did… something I need advice on and it isn't really something I can talk to Paul about. He might freak out if I say anything."

"Freak out? What is this all about?"

Zenith blew a breath out nervously as she approached closer to the subject. Her eyes darted back and forth and her mind began racing as to whether or not she really needed to do this or if she should just pretend that it was nothing. Truth be told, she didn't want to even think about it, but the memories were bothering her. She wanted closer if nothing else. She made up her mind and managed to start forming the words she needed.

"So um… the problem is… er… a few days ago I did something probably really bad." she managed to say.

Lilia patiently waited to see what she would say next completely intrigued as to what could be bothering Zenith so much.

 "I may have… or rather… I did… in fact… give Rudeus.. A han… a hand…"

"You gave Rudeus a hand with something?–"

 " –A handjob!"

That word felt like a sudden shout when it came out of Zenith's mouth, but it was in fact said at a regular volume. The word just carried too much weight and so the both of them froze as if they had heard someone close to them had died. It wasn't that dire, and Lilia responded with:

 "YOU DID WHAT?!"

Those words were an actual shout.

Zenith clammed up at the response and suddenly felt the urge to run. Lilia had never raised her voice like that ever before and it scared Zenith. It made her realize that what she had done was much more serious than she was making it out to be, and that her admission may have been a mistake she couldn't take back.

Lilia stepped closer to Zenith and Zenith went into full panic mode.

 "I-it was a j-j-joke!"

"Giving him a handjob was a joke?!"

"No! Saying I gave him a handjob was–"

 "ZENITH!"

Zenith let out a soft shriek then tumbled backwards onto the ground. Lilia's eyes trembled as she looked at Zenith, and as a result, Zenith had to look away. Looking Lilia in the eyes was impossible in this moment. Lilia knelt down then held out a hand to Zenith. Her look was stern, but it wasn't exactly angry.

"Tell me everything, how it happened, and how it led… to that."

Zenith folded and slowly started to tell Lilia everything. At first, none of it made any sense, but as more details came to the surface, Lilia was able to grasp a good image as to how it even happened and why. To her it was still the most shocking thing she had ever heard, but given everything… it wasn't unbelievable. Lilia gave Zenith a hug. This was the first step towards calming her down.

"First off, what you did was bad." Lilia scolded.

 "I know."

"What they did was bad too."

 "I know."

"Were it me in that situation… I probably would have done the same thing as you."

Zenith looked at her with a genuine confusion in her face.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was alright… but… unless they bring it up… I don't think there's any use fussing about it."

"But Lilia! I jerked off my own son!"

 "So you regret it then?"

 "I… well.. I think I do."

 "So you don't know?"

"No… I don't. The worst part about all of it is that I don't feel like I did anything wrong, but I feel like I've committed an unforgivable crime of some sort!"

"Well if that kind of thing happens again, come get me."

 "Get you?"

"Yeah. If you ask me too, I'll give Rudeus a handjob in your place. He makes me uncomfortable, but he's a boy, and boys have needs too just like anyone else."

"Now you're starting to sound crazy."

"It isn't crazy. It isn't unusual for a maid to take care of the sexual needs of all the men of the house."

"Does that mean you're doing that sort of thing for Paul too? I mean I've suspected as–"

 "No… Paul… he looks… but he doesn't really… sometimes a pat on the butt… but nothing worse."

 "Are you lying to me?"

 "It's the truth."

"I'll think about what you said. I don't want to even think about there being a next time, but maybe I'm just being naive thinking my son would be pure forever."

"He is Paul's son after all."

"He's mine too… even if he doesn't feel like it sometimes. Rudy is so smart and so capable, it frustrates me sometimes, but it also makes me so proud of him. He's growing so fast Lilia. I'm scared. I'm scared of not being there for him… of there being a time where he doesn't need me anymore, where he doesn't see me and only sees other girls."

"Ah… that is… I suppose that is valid. You're doing a good job Zenith."

 "Am I?"

"Yes. Rudy isn't like other boys, and Leah isn't like other girls."

 "Leah worried me."

"Both of them do… but that's the derogative of adults when it comes to matters of children."

"Thanks Lilia. I can think a lot more clearly about everything. I don't know what I would do without you. Somehow the world makes more sense with you around."

As Zenith left the room, Lilia was filled with all sorts of new fears and thoughts. Rudy and Leah were approaching Puberty fast, and from the sound of it, those Greyrat genes of theirs were immensely strong. The sexual activity was certainly not normal, but then again… maybe… no… these children… they were different. Lilia realized the incidents were only just beginning.
