Chapter 10 - 10

Chapter 10: So That's How I Learned to Read

Kurenai Yuhi feigned a cough and looked at Naruto, saying, "I think we should go find a place outside to teach you how to read!"

Naruto probably guessed why Kurenai Yuhi didn't want to teach him at home. The scene in his house made him a little embarrassed, but he quickly hid it, pretending to be indifferent, and nodded happily, saying, "Okay, okay! Anywhere is fine, as long as I can learn to read."

Naruto and Kurenai Yuhi quickly arrived at a deserted small forest.

Kurenai Yuhi looked at Naruto and said, "Look at me!"

Naruto froze for a moment and instinctively looked at Kurenai Yuhi's face.

But with just that look, both Naruto and Kurenai Yuhi blushed.

As they were walking, Naruto was looking down, and Kurenai Yuhi was leading the way. She suddenly stopped silently, turned around, and bent down to let Naruto look at her.

Naruto didn't react in time; his feet were still moving. Hearing Kurenai Yuhi's words, he instinctively raised his head, almost bumping into Kurenai Yuhi's embrace, and his nose almost touched Kurenai Yuhi's prominent chest. How could he not blush?

And Kurenai Yuhi blushed because her Genjutsu on Naruto didn't succeed.

Kurenai Yuhi coughed dryly and looked at Naruto, asking, "Why didn't you fall for my Genjutsu?"

Naruto's mouth twitched slightly as he looked at Kurenai Yuhi and said, "Uh... should I have fallen for the Genjutsu?"

"If you don't fall for Genjutsu, how am I supposed to teach you to read? Am I supposed to teach you one word at a time?"

Naruto's mouth twitched slightly upon hearing this. No wonder Naruto, a dead last, could still understand the scroll of seals.

Now he finally understood; it was learned through Genjutsu.

However, Naruto also roughly guessed why he hadn't fallen for the Genjutsu. Firstly, he had strengthened his mental power by using Multiple Shadow Cloness these past two days, making it difficult to fall for Genjutsu.

Another reason was the presence of the Nine-Tailed. Even if he wanted to fall for Genjutsu, it would be difficult.

Naruto awkwardly scratched his face and looked at Kurenai Yuhi, saying, "Um, why don't you try again? Put in more effort! Harder!"

Kurenai Yuhi almost lost her composure. Although Naruto's words weren't wrong, Kurenai Yuhialways felt they were strange. What kind of vulgar words were these?

Kurenai Yuhi shook her head to clear away those thoughts and used Genjutsu on Naruto again.

This time, Kurenai Yuhi increased her Chakra, which indeed made Naruto enter an illusion.

Inside the Genjutsu, Kurenai Yuhi split into many, and Naruto also split into many. Kurenai Yuhicalled out various word combinations, one could say the division of labor was clear.

Although Naruto was trapped in the Genjutsu, his mind was still very clear. He knew it was Genjutsu, but for the future, he cooperated fully.

Just when Naruto felt bored, the Genjutsu finally ended.

Naruto's eyes blurred, and he saw Kurenai Yuhislumped on the ground.

Naruto quickly stepped forward and asked, "Are you okay?"

Kurenai Yuhi saw Naruto perfectly fine and even running over to ask if she was okay? She felt completely disheartened.

Kurenai Yuhi, the caster, had exhausted all her Chakra and collapsed, but the one on whom the technique was cast was completely unaffected. This was quite a blow.

Kurenai Yuhi's mouth twitched slightly as she looked at Naruto and asked, "You still didn't fall for the Genjutsu?"

"Uh... weren't you teaching me to read just now? I've learned it all."

Kurenai Yuhi frowned upon hearing this and looked at Naruto, asking, "Are you sure you've learned it all?"

"I should have learned it! Or why don't you rest for a while, then bring a book, and I'll read it to you to see if there are any problems."

Kurenai Yuhi thought for a moment and felt that Naruto's words made sense. She nodded and said, "Alright!"

Naruto saw that Kurenai Yuhi agreed and also wanted to sit down and rest with her, but he felt it was inappropriate to just rest like that. After all, he had troubled Kurenai Yuhi, so he should thank her.

So Naruto looked at Kurenai Yuhi and said, "Um... you rest here for a bit, I'll go over there for a moment."

Kurenai Yuhi thought Naruto was going to the restroom, so she nodded and let him leave.

Naruto returned quickly after leaving, holding several fish and a good amount of firewood.

Kurenai Yuhi saw this situation and asked, puzzled, "What are you doing?"

"Uh... well, thank you for today! I don't have much money to treat you to a meal, so I thought I'd grill some fish to thank you."

When Kurenai Yuhi heard Naruto's words, she felt a pang of sadness. The son of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, was living in such circumstances.

"No need! This is an order from the Third Hokage, and I naturally have to carry it out."

Naruto shook his head and looked at Kurenai Yuhi, saying, "It's different! Grandpa Third ordering you to carry it out is official business. You helping me learn to read, and me grilling fish for you, this is... my personal thanks."

Naruto almost said it was human relations,

But he changed his words at the last minute.

When Kurenai Yuhi heard Naruto's words, tears almost welled up in her eyes. She secretly thought, 'What a sensible child! Yet he's fallen to the point where everyone despises him.'

While Kurenai Yuhi was in a daze, Naruto had already set up the bonfire.

When Kurenai Yuhi came back to her senses, she saw that Naruto had almost finished grilling the fish.

However, Naruto's expression was a bit uneasy.

Kurenai Yuhi asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"

Naruto awkwardly looked at Kurenai Yuhi and said, "Um... do you have any salt or seasoning?"

Kurenai Yuhi was a little confused by Naruto's question and looked at him, asking, "Don't you usually bring seasoning when you grill fish?"

Naruto lowered his head and shook it, saying, "Grandpa Third gives me five hundred Ryo every month. I can buy some simple vegetables, but I don't have money for anything else, and even then, I can't always buy them. So I've never put salt or seasoning on my grilled fish."

Kurenai Yuhi's dissatisfaction with the Third Hokage grew even stronger after hearing Naruto's explanation, but she didn't show any change in her expression.

Kurenai Yuhi smiled at Naruto and said, "Since there's no seasoning, then don't add any! Let's eat your unseasoned grilled fish! I want to taste what it's like too."

When Naruto heard that Kurenai Yuhi wanted to taste his unseasoned grilled fish, he knew he had successfully stirred up her dissatisfaction with the Third Hokage.

Naruto smiled, picked up a grilled fish, and handed it to Kurenai Yuhi, saying, "Okay, okay! My cooking is pretty good."

Kurenai Yuhi took the grilled fish and took a bite. Although there was no seasoning flavor, the texture was quite good.

Speaking purely of grilling technique, Naruto could be said to be outstanding. She had to admit that the fish she, an adult, grilled might not even be as good as Naruto's.

Kurenai Yuhi finished one fish and looked at Naruto, saying, "I'm full! The remaining fish...!"

Kurenai Yuhi's words were interrupted by Narutobefore she could finish.

"Take the rest of the fish back with you, big sister! Heat them up a little when you get back and add some seasoning; they'll definitely taste even better. I know this way of thanking you might lack sincerity, but when I become a Ninja and earn money, I'll definitely thank you properly, big sister."
