Chapter 1 - Prolouge(1) - Chapter 0

A man, clearly aged to the point of barely looking human, was taking his last breaths. In front of him was the looming figure of a king wearing a mask adorned with an ancient material called 'wood'-something which was once common but now the same rarity as a glorious gemstone. The king was looking the dying man in the eyes and wishing him a final farewell,The passage of several epochs visible in the somber ruler's eyes.

The very next moment,a young man was lying in a single bed in a dull and slightly dusty house, filled to the brim with various utensils and accesories. The family to whom the house belonged was clearly not well to do.But the falling rays of the sun made it look rather picturesque..

..until a large woman wearing a 'saree' blocked the light with her huge physique alone,in her hand was a broom. She apperared agitated by the young man's tardiness and was ready to give him a couple painful wacks with the deadly weapon. But the young man only momentarily opened his eyes and went back to sleep, perhaps the drowsiness protected him from the fear of the approaching threat.

Then there was a grand landscape

The mountains and trees were dry,the weather was arrid but the sight was extravagent. The gargantuan natural formations streached so tall that it appeared they were immune to gravity, strange dusty snow covering their peaks which were themselves hidden by a layer of continuous, flat and unending clouds. In front of the large landscape was a small region devoid of large trees, covered with dry,sand-coloured grass and some portruding black rocks. That was the sight to which the young man woke up.

But the young man lost the memories of these prior events,in fact he forgot his own name, the world he came from and anyother detail about himself which would allow him to differenciate himself as a person. But he strangely could understand the world around him.

'Where the hell am I?!'

'Who am I,why am i here, where are my clothes?'

And various other questions flowed through the young man's confused and unstable mind.It was like he was born that very instant while simultaneously had lived an entire life before.

[Welcome to the system,young reincarnator!]

'What...?'

A strange blue screen floating in the air displaying the text.It looked straight out a videogame, like a text the protagonist of a generic manga of the isekai genre might see.

" 'videogame'...'manga'...'isekai' what do these word even mean? Why can I think of them and form sentences with them while not knowing what they even mean? "

A hoarse and strained voice came out

'Is that my voice? It sounds terrible'

Soon the young man looked down. His body was quite frail, covered with brown skin and some minor scars. His wasn't malnourished but still quite unhealthy. The young man frowned,he knew his physique wasn't good,he looked weak but in comparision to what?He didn't know.

A flood of memories started to fill his mind.Soon he was on the ground having the worst headache he had ever felt in his five minutes of consiousness.Soon his mind was scattered and unclear, his memories flooding in enmass every moment.Right now the young man was many things, but if it was described in one word it would be-"vunerable".

And in the arrid climate devoid of nutrition,a vunerable human with several dozen kilograms of flesh and bones was the greatest feast a starved dweller of the land could hope for.It didn't take long for a starved creature to approach the easy prey.

It was a green abomination covered in makeshift clothing,it's repulsive and wrinkled skin hiding a layer of lean but powerful muscles. It's ears were long and pointed, covered by various tumorous growths. It's face looked almost comical, with a long pointed nose, tired black eyes and a terribly mishaped jaw. There was a strange aura of something that reseambled pride in the disgusting creature's pace.

[Do you want to challenge lesser monster "Goblin duke"?]

However before the young man could even react to the system's question the green duke lunged at the prey with a weakened but still horrifiyingly fast velocity.

The young man had spent barely six minutes in this new world and his life already depended on his every next action.
