"Elektra!"
He turned around to face the woman in red standing in the room. Her beautiful face was set in a cold expression.
"Daredevil has become the greatest obstacle to my rule over Hell's Kitchen. As my most powerful assassin, surely you don't want someone standing in our way?"
Kingpin spoke calmly, his tone Brookline with an underlying authority that brooked no argument. "I want you to go out and kill Daredevil's best friend, Foggy Nelson. Give him a little 'lesson'."
"..."
Upon hearing this, a flash of hesitation crossed Elektra's heart. Although she had committed herself to the darkness, long ago, she had been Daredevil's girlfriend. The two had ended in a breakup. To be ordered to kill his best friend... she didn't have the heart to do it.
Yet, she couldn't refuse Kingpin's orders. If she provoked his ire, the only thing waiting for her was the wrath of the Uncrowned King.
"Boss, if she can't bring herself to do it, I can go!"
Bullseye, standing nearby, couldn't help but volunteer. He saw Elektra's hesitation and saw an opportunity to drive a wedge between her and Kingpin.
"What does this have to do with you?" Elektra turned her cold gaze toward Bullseye. Her eyes flashed with a freezing light. "It's just a kill. I can handle it. I don't need anyone else meddling. I accept the mission."
With that, Elektra turned and walked out.
Bullseye glared at her retreating back. Once she was gone, he turned to Kingpin, his annoyance palpable. "Boss, do you really trust that woman? She's still tied up with that Daredevil. She's bound to have second thoughts!"
"Do you think I'm an idiot, Bullseye?"
Kingpin's massive frame sat there like a fortress. He glanced at Bullseye, radiating a natural aura of authority. A dangerous pressure began to fill the air.
Bullseye trembled instantly, lowering his head in fear as he pleaded, "I'm sorry, Boss, I..."
"Enough!" Kingpin waved his hand dismissively. "Do you think I don't know about their history? I'm using this opportunity to purge all unstable factors. Do you understand what I mean?"
"Boss, you mean...?"
Bullseye looked up in pleasant surprise. Meeting Kingpin's decisive, murderous gaze, he began to shake with excitement. If Elektra died, he would become Kingpin's number-one enforcer! He could already imagine the look of terror, despair, and disbelief on Elektra's face right before she died.
"Two birds with one stone! Boss, you really are incredible!" Bullseye praised him with near-fanatical fervor.
"Heh." Kingpin smiled thinly, his true thoughts unreadable to anyone.
What neither of them noticed was that in the dark corner of the room, the shadows had rippled momentarily, drawing no attention from the two villains.
...
Meanwhile, Elektra walked out of the building. Her mood was as heavy and complex as storm clouds before a gale. Kingpin's words echoed in her ears. His command was an invisible shackle, tightening around her heart. The internal struggle within her grew more pronounced. Tender memories of her time with Daredevil flashed through her mind, causing her to hesitate more than once.
However, as an assassin, she ultimately could not escape her inexorable fate. She knew she had to strike a lethal blow; this was the curse of her profession.
As the night deepened, Elektra lay in wait at the entrance of the law firm—the one founded by Daredevil and his close friend, Foggy Nelson. In the black of night, she was like a leopard stalking its prey, her gaze sharp, the night breeze whispering past her ears.
Time trickled by as she waited. The sound of her own heartbeat seemed exceptionally clear in the silent night.
Over an hour later, Daredevil—Matt Murdock—stepped out of the firm dressed in a black suit, leaning on his blind cane. At the sight of her former lover, a torrent of emotions surged through Elektra. her eyes flickered, and for a fleeting second, her murderous intent wavered.
"..."
Matt seemed to sense something and tilted his head slightly. His sightless eyes pierced through the murky night, appearing as though they could look right through the darkness itself. Elektra's heart hammered against her ribs as she remained perfectly still, hidden.
Soon, Matt retracted his gaze and, tapping his cane, vanished into the night.
...
Meanwhile, a hundred meters away, atop a neighboring building...
Lin Feng stood alone, enveloped by the endless gloom while the cold night wind whipped around him. He looked down at the unfolding scene with a calm, indifferent expression.
"System, can I check in now?" Lin Feng asked internally.
[Ding! System has detected that the host has not yet triggered a 'Famous Scene.' Check-in is currently unavailable.]
The prompt echoed quietly in his mind.
"Just as I thought..." Lin Feng didn't mind. He waited patiently. The Shadow Khan Legion was spread throughout New York, acting as his eyes and ears, helping him monitor key characters from the shadows.
Currently, both Elektra and Daredevil were within his sight. Lin Feng knew that Matt Murdock hadn't actually left. Whether it was due to his heightened intuition or if he had truly discovered something, Matt was currently hiding just outside the firm.
Elektra, despite her extreme caution, had clearly failed to notice this. However, neither of them realized there was a third—or even a fourth—party watching.
"To me, Hell's Kitchen isn't just a place of chaos; it's a treasure trove! Where else could I find more famous scenes than here?"
