Chapter 52 - CHAPTER 52: A Heart That Won’t Hide

The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the quiet streets. Go Eun adjusted her bag nervously as she approached the small café where So Ra had asked her to meet. Her chest fluttered—today wasn't about work, it wasn't casual—it was a date.

She arrived first, her fingers tracing the strap of her bag as she scanned the street. The café door chimed as So Ra stepped inside a few minutes later, her calm confidence and soft smile immediately drawing Go Eun's gaze.

"Hey," So Ra greeted, sliding into the seat across from Go Eun.

"Hi," Go Eun replied softly, her voice betraying her nervousness.

They ordered coffee and pastries—So Ra a rich chocolate cake, Go Eun a green tea tart—and started with casual conversation. But every glance lingered longer than necessary, every laugh held a subtle tension.

"So… how has your day been?" So Ra asked, leaning slightly closer, her elbow brushing lightly against Go Eun's.

Go Eun's chest skipped. That simple contact sent a shiver through her. "It's been busy… but not bad," she said, trying to focus on the conversation and not the flutter in her chest.

So Ra's eyes narrowed teasingly. "You look different today… softer. I like it."

Go Eun's cheeks warmed. "I… I didn't notice."

They walked to a nearby park after their desserts. The autumn air was crisp, and the fallen leaves crunched softly under their feet. So Ra brushed against Go Eun's shoulder lightly, just enough to make her heart skip a beat.

"You always walk like this when you're deep in thought?" So Ra teased.

Go Eun smiled faintly. "Only when someone makes me nervous," she admitted, glancing at her.

So Ra's smile widened, mischievous and warm. "Me? Nervous? You're adorable."

They sat on a bench near a fountain, enjoying the golden glow of the sun on the water. The air was quiet except for the soft rustle of leaves and distant laughter. Their shoulders occasionally brushed, and their fingers brushed lightly over and over, each accidental touch sending a flutter through Go Eun's chest.

So Ra, without realizing, whispered softly, almost to herself, "I don't think I can hide it anymore. My heart… it keeps beating for you."

Go Eun's stomach flipped. She had been wanting to confess too, but the words caught in her throat. She swallowed hard, then finally managed to say, "I like you… I really do… but I'm not ready to date yet. I need time to figure things out."

So Ra's eyes widened, then softened. "You… like me?" she asked quietly.

"Yes," Go Eun admitted, voice steady despite the nervousness. "I like you, but I need time to understand what I want."

So Ra smiled, a mix of relief and joy spreading across her face. "I don't mind waiting. I just… needed you to know how I feel."

They continued walking, teasing and laughing, the playful tension between them mingling with subtle glances and touches. Each small accidental brush of their hands, each close step, made their hearts race.

"So… you really like me?" So Ra asked after a pause, her voice low.

Go Eun nodded, smiling faintly. "Yes… I do. I'm just… figuring things out. But I want to be honest with you."

So Ra reached over, brushing her hand against Go Eun's. "That's all I want. Honest. And I'll wait for you… as long as you need."

The rest of the afternoon passed with soft laughter, shared stories, and playful teasing. By the time they parted, the tension and spark between them had grown, subtle but undeniable, leaving both of their hearts fluttering.

Go Eun's chest felt light, yet her mind swirled with excitement and uncertainty. She liked So Ra… she knew it. And she also knew she wanted to explore these feelings, even if she needed time.
