Chapter 30 - The Test

Seo Yoon noticed it immediately.

Not because it was obvious—

But because it was too precise not to be intentional.

The deal had been perfect.

Carefully negotiated.Flawlessly timed.Every variable accounted for.

A multi-million contract, secured after weeks of silent strategy.

And then—

It collapsed.

"No warning?" she asked calmly, setting the file down.

Her assistant hesitated. "No, CEO. They pulled out this morning. No explanation."

Seo Yoon's expression didn't change.

But her eyes…

Sharpened.

That wasn't normal.

Powerful companies didn't make reckless decisions like that. Not without pressure. Not without reason.

And she already knew—

There was only one person bold enough to do this.

Sang-Hyun.

Across the city, in a glass-walled office high above everything else—

He watched.

Not through cameras this time.

Through consequences.

Through reactions.

Through the ripple effect of a single move.

"She noticed," he said quietly.

Of course she did.

There had been no attempt to hide it.

This wasn't surveillance.

This was a message.

Back in her office, Seo Yoon stood slowly, walking toward the window.

The city stretched beneath her, vast and controlled—just like the world she had built for herself.

Someone had just tried to disrupt it.

Not destroy.

Just… touch it.

Test it.

A small, cold smile appeared on her lips.

"So this is how you play."

She turned sharply.

"Get me everything on the company that backed out."

"Yes, CEO."

"And trace their connections."

A pause.

"Especially recent ones."

Minutes later, the answer came.

Clear.

Direct.

Unmistakable.

The company hadn't acted alone.

They had been influenced.

Pressured.

Redirected.

By the Kim family.

Seo Yoon let out a quiet breath.

Not surprised.

Just… confirmed.

"You're testing me," she murmured.

High above, Sang-Hyun leaned back slightly, as if he could hear her.

A faint smile touched his lips.

Because he was.

He hadn't ruined her deal.

Not completely.

Just enough to see—

How she would respond.

Would she panic?Would she hesitate?Would she lose control?

Or would she fight?

Seo Yoon picked up the file again, flipping through it once more.

Her mind was already moving.

Rebuilding.

Rerouting.

Rewriting the outcome.

"Contact their competitor," she said suddenly.

Her assistant blinked. "The rival company?"

"Yes."

Her voice was calm. Certain.

"If they think they can replace me—then I'll replace them first."

Across the city, Sang-Hyun's screen lit up with new data.

Movement.

Fast.

Decisive.

His smile deepened—just slightly.

"She didn't hesitate."

Seo Yoon stepped forward, her expression now completely composed again.

Like nothing had happened.

Like she had already moved on.

But this time—

She wasn't reacting.

She was countering.

"Also," she added, pausing at the door,

"prepare a message."

Her assistant nodded. "To whom?"

Seo Yoon's eyes darkened just a fraction.

"To Sang-Hyun."

Silence.

Then—

A faint, dangerous smile.

"Let him know…"

She turned slightly, her gaze sharp, unyielding.

"I don't take tests."

"I return them."

Miles away, Sang-Hyun looked at the incoming notification.

A message.

From her.

For a brief moment—

Something unfamiliar flickered in his eyes.

Interest.

Real interest.

"Good," he said softly.

Because this was exactly what he wanted.

Not control.

Not submission.

A challenge.

And Seo Yoon…

Had just accepted. 🔥
