Chapter 156 - Where Love Feels Safe

Chapter 71: Where Love Feels Safe

The world felt… different.

Not dangerous.

Not dark.

For once—

Peaceful.

The field stretched endlessly before them.

Fresh green grass swaying gently with the wind.

The sun warm but soft.

The sky clear… almost too perfect.

Elara stepped forward slowly, her dress brushing lightly against the grass.

Their baby girl rested in her arms, calm and quiet.

Her tiny fingers playing with the edge of Elara's dress.

Damian watched them.

From just a few steps behind.

And for the first time in a long time—

There was no war in his eyes.

Only peace.

"You like it?"

He asked softly.

Elara turned to him.

A genuine smile on her face.

"It's beautiful…"

Her voice carried something light.

Something free.

Damian walked closer.

His hand gently resting on their baby's head.

"She's calm," he said quietly.

"She feels it too," Elara replied.

A silence followed.

But this one—

Was warm.

They settled on the soft grass.

A blanket spread beneath them.

Simple food laid out.

Nothing luxurious.

Nothing extravagant.

Just… real.

Elara sat cross-legged, placing the baby gently between them.

Damian leaned back slightly, watching both of them like they were his entire world.

And maybe they were.

"Say something," Elara teased softly.

He raised an eyebrow.

"I am."

She smiled.

Shaking her head.

"You're just staring."

A small pause.

"I like what I see."

Her cheeks flushed slightly.

"Damian…"

"What?"

A faint smirk touched his lips.

"You're my wife."

The way he said it—

Not as possession.

But as something precious.

Elara looked down for a moment.

Smiling softly.

Their baby made a small sound.

Drawing their attention.

Damian leaned forward.

Carefully lifting her into his arms.

His movements—

Gentle.

Careful.

Elara watched him closely.

"You've changed…"

She whispered.

He looked at her.

"No…"

A pause.

"I just stopped hiding this part."

Her heart softened completely.

The wind blew gently.

Carrying her hair across her face.

Damian reached out.

Tucking it behind her ear.

His fingers lingered for a moment.

Their eyes met.

And everything else faded.

No past.

No pain.

Just this moment.

Elara leaned closer.

Slowly.

Damian didn't move away.

Instead—

He met her halfway.

Their lips touched softly.

Not rushed.

Not intense.

Just… gentle.

A kiss that spoke more than words ever could.

Their baby rested quietly in his arms.

As if she knew—

She was safe.

When they pulled away, Elara rested her forehead against his.

"I love you…"

She whispered.

Damian's hand moved to her cheek.

"I know."

A small pause.

"And I love you more than anything."

She smiled softly.

They stayed like that.

In the middle of a field full of life.

Holding each other.

Holding their child.

And for once—

The devil didn't need to fight.

Because everything he loved…

Was right there in his arms.
